  1. no, they need to be patient, and make sure he is consistent, and that he is 100% ready before promoting him. Otherwise his career may be over and ruined.
  2. He's plummeting down boards, just don't see it.
  3. I'd guess we can expect a guy that plays in the majors, with a 30% chance they are a legit every day player. As for the last part about Dozier and Hrbek......those are exceptions, not rules. If you consistently miss on your first round picks, you are in trouble.
  4. Much better than aluminum, and no college is going to invest in wooden bats, waaaaaaay too much money.
  5. No one's downside is MLB CF.....but I get your point. Like I said, what I know, I read here.
  6. Just reading this, and nothing else, he sounds more like Revere than Buxton to me......
  7. In this week's power rankings on CBS......they don't know what to make of the Twins, but have them 7th.
  8. Well, if he can dominate w/o a good breaking ball, I'd think you'd want to challenge him and move him up so he HAD to use the breaking ball. But then, I believe people grow by being challenged in general, not in beating others at games when they are just far superior. It is a philosophical difference I clearly hold with the Twins' approach, imo.
  9. would be cool if he got some time there in the minors, if they are considering it......wouldn't it?
  10. I hope Sano and Buxton force their way up this summer.......that would be fun. I'll keep typing it, Sano should be getting time in RF right now, Plouffe is a legit MLB 3B.
  11. The coverage here is great, thanks to everyone.
  12. The options in the minors are a big part of the optimism, because if they have to make a call on someone, they now have options.
  13. I don't buy the conclusion of the article at all. Any article that says power does not matter at all, well, I am not buying that. He's just not good compared to other 1B right now. Can that change? Can he get back to elite hitter status? I don't believe it, but I would give him the year to prove me wrong. If he's not MUCH better at the end of the year, I approach him about taking early retirement. Because you are not SUPER likely to win with a 1B that doesn't hit well, and they aren't benching him while he is on the roster.
  14. It's a bit early to say "so much for", isn't it?
  15. I find it odd that Bard would go to SP again......and not slowly come back.
  16. I agree, if one works out, that's a good ratio (as long as they cut the other before waiting too long).
  17. You read that 100% wrong. Plouffe is a top 10 player at his position.......it is rare to get more MLB talent in return, it usually comes in the form of prospects. My post was pretty clear, I thought, that it would be hard to get more talent, that is younger, that is MLB ready than you give up.
  18. Not sure why 1B and 3B are grouped, but it doesn't hurt anyone, because there aren't many guys....... Big believer in Sano, at 1B or DH or OF, mostly believe he can be a good 3B (counting hitting, since as posted above, it would make him even more valuable). Sort of a believer in Kepler, but I need a full year of productivity to really believe he has taken the step of translating all that talent to productivity. No idea how I feel about any of the others that aren't already 28ish.......just not enough data* *well, I am relatively sure a few won't make it, but not naming names.....
  19. Sure, if you can get younger and better, sure.....seems doubtful to me. And by younger and better, I mean MLB player......where they don't have a good/soon prospect. So, Catcher, and 1B (maybe) and corner OF. Oh, and maybe 3B if you lose Plouffe.
  20. Not shutting the door is different than people saying they should trade them. That's pretty clear, I think.
  21. Saying we have doubts, is very different than what doc said. And no, this isn't about lack of attention span......I would suggest not ascribing intent/belief/cause to other people.
  22. It raises an interesting question......if your best pitching coach is in the majors.....are you really helping your minor leaguers all that much?
  23. He won't stay in their minors for that long, he'd leave. Every year not in the majors is lots of money down the drain. If he isn't up here until 30, would he ever even make $1MM in a year?
  24. Not sure what this means? Should Meyer be up, even if he walks guys? Should they continue to keep him in AAA, not making MLB money, when he could maybe be up here as a RP? Should they make him a reliever soon? I am not sure what you are saying, other than agreeing, right now, he doesn't have control. He may or may not have control. Randy appears to be anomaly among tall pitchers, not the rule.....
