  1. Uh, Toronto had the best team in baseball last year.....the playoffs are not a good measure of that. I'm not sure using them as a failed team is a good idea.
  2. Ha, well, packaging him with Durbin threw me off the sarcasm, and I was sort of listening to my conference call.......so it could be me. But, phew.
  3. I think my head just exploded. Did someone just type that Garza was a wasted pick?
  4. How often do teams pull the plug on a veteran after 3 starts?
  5. Agreed with the post up a few spots.....you aren't likely to trade anyone in May.....
  6. I predict it starts: Santana, Gibson, Hughes, Milone, Nolasco I predict those last three will be mediocre or so, and the Twins will find it very hard to justify pulling them from the rotation, since they are here and "fine". I predict being frustrated that better pitchers are in AAA, while the Twins win just under half their games.
  7. Ryan's not saying it, posters are.......I agree with what you post here.
  8. I love all the "if everything works out, he'll be fine" posts.....well, ya. But should you count on everything working out?
  9. I like Rosario staying in LF, because by June, he will be the LFer for sure. Why move him around?
  10. No issue at all. Glad we got it cleared up, and I agree, they did not think the Mauer thing would happen, but the lack of any candidates behind him that they believed in is an issue.....
  11. I'm responding to the argument he can't hit because he wears down. Was that not obvious? So, if he doesn't hit well because he wears down, then rest is called for, no? Also, this "trend" goes back to his time with the A's. NONE of this is about the Twins.......it is about questioning the argument that he wears down, and somehow WE are all smart enough to know that, and neither the As or Twins were. Is that clear?
  12. A well run team would have realized this, played a bad player 1 more time a week, and gotten better overall production, yet no one did that the last 4 years......why?
  13. Agreed with the above......so every single year he's been over worked in his career? It isn't that he just isn't that good a hitter?
  14. I don't recall TR saying that he didn't expect a good offensive year when they extended him......does anyone have those quotes handy? I don't know, saying the problem is that he's been tired 4 of the last 5 years, or whatever, seems like a pretty convenient excuse to me.
  15. I'm hoping the team decides that getting youth experience is important this year, and it is 60% Murphy from day 1. He's the starter next year and beyond, he should be getting as much work this year as possible (w/o wearing him down), so that next year and beyond he's the man. I predict it is more like the exact opposite though.....
  16. There are people who seem to think the team should go with guys in their 20s, who might have upside, rather than 34 year olds who haven't been healthy for 18 months.
  17. Maybe they really want a new veteran clubhouse guy, since Plouffe, Mauer, and Dozier apparently can't do that......or maybe they want him to teach Sano how to get hit.
  18. Some rebuilding teams bring up young guys and let them play, w/o signing guys to "motivate" them.....they trust the process.....
  19. Great point. It signals that they aren't going to sink/swim with youth. Or, maybe it doesn't, but that's how it looks.
  20. We were told not to worry about Kubel and Bartlett and Stauffer......how'd that work out? Signing old, bad, players is not something that you would expect a winning team to do, imo.
  21. I just can't see him as part of the plan for the first half of this year. But let's hope he is up here in the 2nd half, and is awesome.
  22. Don't forget to send me your thank you check on NFLX, Brock....
  23. My overly pessimistic day trader friend is convinced this is a dead cat bounce (or something like that), and we are DOOMED this year........
