    I'd like to see Jay promoted this year, but I agree with Seth, it's more likely as a RP given pitch limits. Some great performances. Hoping we see promotions in a couple weeks.

    Wow, I'm trying to defend you, and I feel you just attacked me. We are on a website dedicated to discussing how well players play, and managers manage and the FO is doing their job. If you think that's not decent, why do you own this website, exactly?

    Plus, just because some people aren't great at their job (see AZ FO, probably).....that doesn't mean the structure is wrong/bad/evil.

    Very happy Rogers is up, and in the bullpen. Definitely the right role for him.

    I don't buy the whole AA is better thing. There may be more high upside guys there longer than in AAA, but there are a lot of AAAA players in AAA, guys that know how to play and have talent. I'd guess the competition is more consistently good, and has a few upside guys. Based on the data that someone shared about the top players, most play more in AAA than you'd expect.

    On topic, I agree, they should hire a President of Baseball, or whatever the old GM is now called.....yes. Agreed. No idea what that means for everyone else in the organization, but it should mean Ryan and many baseball types are replaced. Terry Ryan has done many great things for this org. I just think it is time for a new voice.

    How is it good to punt 4 rounds, to pay for 1 guy? I think you underestimate the bad side of punting a pick or 4...... And, the easy fix, is to change the draft to be like the NFL draft, or to do something truly new and interesting and go to a combo FA/draft thing like I have previously suggested.

    In fairness to Seth, he knows these people personally. It's pretty hard to say bad things in public about people you know.......

    I also believe in process.....but plenty of MLB players follow good process, but aren't good MLB players. Outcomes matter. They really do. Otherwise, you could hire my 18 year old and tell him what process to follow as a scout or as a sales lead, or whatever, but that wouldn't make him good at it. Process is not sufficient to judge performance.

    I agree with all of this. Outside of baseball and the tv contract, I'm not sure how anyone can say bad things about the Twins (now that I don't live there anymore, I don't have to see the terrible ads, but I realize those ads aren't aimed at me.....). I also agree, I don't know what all he does.....so it's kind of hard to say how well he does it. I'm not sure that was the point that the poster we both are responding to made.

    I think the point, Seth, is that most people here see you defend pretty much every employee as a great.....and some wonder, then, if your opinion has much weight. OTOH, I've seen you be critical of some employees, or question them, so I'm not sure that view is completely fair. But, I think you realize you rarely say anything bad about the employees/players, despite going on a pretty bad run here lately.

    Well, this is a sticky one..... On the one hand, I'm not sure 1 month is a lot of time to "fix" him. I had been saying keep him down for another month or so, and then call him up (assuming he's hitting well) and see what you have. Really, it needs to be about the long term. On the other hand....he is on the 40 man, their "CF" is hurt, and he's the best fielding CF they have. I just want the manager to play him every day, and see what is changed or not.

    Well, most of these new Presidents are really the GMs, and it is title inflation..... that said, from the times St. Peter talks about baseball.....he really shouldn't. He's not good at that part of his job. Well, he's not good for over involved fans with lots of knowledge. Maybe he's good overall..... I really have no idea how well he does at the other aspects of his job.

    True.....but none of us can fly around and scout. So, we are pretty much left trusting the Twins (not me) and scouting the stat lines.
