  1. Frankly, if MLBtraderumors is correct, and they are both waiting for calls, and not willing to throw in money, well, I have little faith this team is going to help themselves for the future this deadline.
  2. Tigger is my second favorite tiger, after Hobbes....where is Hobbes? some pictures: edit: not to diminish the awesomeness of the intro, I'm just adding to the list....
  3. Sometimes they get put up in other peoples' houses, but no.
  4. probably not......I'd do the first two for sure, meaning your proposal might be fair.....
  5. two thoughts/questions: I'm not sure there is a FA SP next year as good as Santana* Are you saying they can get a better SP than Santana for the number 80ish prospect? *I have not checked, but it wouldn't surprise me.
  6. if you want to compete next year....where does the talent come from, if they aren't here this year? Are you expecting a bunch of minor league callups to produce next year? if you are going to argue May got a shot, we'll disagree, see the post after you with all the stats.
  7. In a week or two, after he sits, sure.....but no hurry.
  8. Oh, that last sentence is so true, so very true.
  9. Cheaper than just spending the money, in the offseason, and not losing a prospect at all? Or, cheaper money wise? Because the discussion we are having is that if you want guys on multi year deals in trades, why don't you want them in FA?
  10. When did we start discussing Lucroy on this thread? I am baffled by this entire part of the conversation, since, that's not what the thread is about. It is about the consistency of the approach and the process of rebuilding this roster. If we want to revisit points I've already conceded, we can do that.......If a team had dealt for Lucroy last year, it would have cost less than it will this year, and they'd have him and his results for the year...... A good trade last year? Either trading for RP sooner, or not dealing for only 1, would have been better than what they did, imo. I don't know......it is super, super, super unlikely that acquiring help last year would have made a difference, other than the bullpen (which many pointed out as a weakness before the year started) and a CF option.....neither of which they did. IMO, and YMMV of course, trading prospects for RP with multiple years of control, but not wanting to sign such pitchers (the whole point of the thread).....that seems like an odd strategy to me.
  11. Going to Hawaii in January......looking forward to it!
  12. I was trying to be kind/generous/nice.......apologies.
  13. Actually, we are discussing if/when a team should go all in, or go all out. I put a small parenthetical in one post among several, saying I thought the Twins could have acquired Tulo last year. I'm willing to concede that was a bad idea. Can we now return to the point of the thread?
  14. I'd trade him, but man, the replacements are awful........not surprising really. When trading Aaron Hicks, you aren't exactly (or shouldn't be expecting) getting a great return. Aim low, hit low.
  15. Well, he said he wanted him.....and it's possible that is true, but if it is, ouch. Big ouch.
  16. I'm sure TOR really regrets the playoff run last year, or the high possibility of being in the playoffs this year......But, I bet the Twins are loving the last 5 years and this year. edit: They saw a window, when NY and BOS were down, and traded and signed players to go for it. They were awesome last year, and are looking like serious contenders this year. By arguing they were stupid for doing this.....aren't you really saying there is no time to go all in? I mean, when should TOR go all in, if not when NY and BOS are down, and they are close?
  17. Remember, Tor also salary dumped Reyes in that deal.......it's like people can't recall that part. It's amazing how people write entire paragraphs about 1 small part of a post, but barely anything on the actual point......which is that sometimes, a team should go all in, or trade from the future. Ryan has done that 1 time in his tenure, 1 time. But, hey, if Jason Tyner is your DH, that's no time to deal for help...... Using AZ as an example of bad management? That's like fishing in a stocked trout pond with corn......anyone can point out that stupidity. Most did at the time......
  18. they've made it clear, as has the national media, they wait for others to call them, and they wait for others to make an offer. Or, everyone is lying......
  19. On either side of the deal.......Pomeranz doesn't exactly have a long history of this success. So, when the Twins are close, I'd be on the Boston side. When rebuilding, I'd be on the other side.
  20. And they gave up a great prospect to get him. Sigh.
  21. Has TR successfully built around them? Did he sign flyers and deal them? Did he keep a closer around, when he wasn't needed, or did he deal him to help the rebuild? How good have his trades been for guys that really matter? The idea of building around those two players is a fine idea.....how is he doing in putting 25-30 other players in place? I think above you said 2017 was the goal.....so if they don't contend next year, are we ready to move on? The goal posts for those that think TR should keep his job keep moving (for these even willing to put a date on a goal, I always thought goals had to have a time component, but that's not apparently true for baseball contention).
