  1. next year, next year, next year.......been reading that here for three years now. Remember when people debated if the Cubs or Astros were ahead of the Twins, just last year? Good times.
  2. If we think he's not great, why would a GM give up 3-4 prospects, including a pitcher in the top 10 - 20 prospects in teh game?
  3. Can't. Tell. If. Serious. If so, why? Based on what, in the last two years?
  4. I have a bit of hope for Tonkin, if he's used in 1 inning bursts....call me naive and overly hopeful, but I do.
  5. According to fangraphs, the Twins have a number 3, and a bunch of number 4/5/6 types. Also, no one is suggesting they need to have five number 1 starters. Also, you can sign a FA to a long term deal, so that when they are good, that player is still here. If they aren't good in the next 3-4 years, they will have wasted Buxton and Sano.
  6. A team can work on the bullpen and the rotation and hitters all at the same time. This thread is about the bullpen
  7. Sure, whatever, but giving them a pass on this seems a bit overly forgiving to me....I'd like to see this team "wing it" by betting on an unproven young guy as a RP, just one time, out of the gate.
  8. Agreed, as long as Molitor is here, I don't know how anyone could feel good about the bullpen.
  9. I wouldn't change a number from what Seth wrote. I also predict adequate defense.
  10. Well, the stats are ambivalent on if he's the 3rd or 5th worst player in all of MLB the last two years.....you just can't trust them with that kind of variance.
  11. 28 home runs, about a 337 OBP. Not traded, because having a 2B at the end of his contract is somehow more important to a bad team than taking a chance on prospects. Heck, I predict he's signed to an extension, and they never trade him, just like Perkins.
  12. Let's see what changes....Not holding my breath on Molitor changing, but we'll see. As for the players on the roster, I don't know if I could be more underwhelmed on the "changes" they've made.
  13. funny, if I was on your meds, you could reverse those! magic those meds are!
  14. It's not like the front, middle, or back end of the Twins' rotation is anything special. The Dodgers are projected to be the best staff in the game, even with Urias held back....it makes good sense to hold him back, use him less early, and have him ready for the playoffs. That all makes sense for the MLB roster this year, and the future. I guess we just disagree that having 1 number 3 and 4-8 number 5 starters, is the same as having the Dodgers rotation.
  15. You don't see any difference in finding room on the Dodgers' rotation, the best in the baseball, than on the Twins' rotation?
  16. Or maybe the Dodgers have one of the deepest rotations in the game? They are number 1 overall in the Fangraphs WAR projections for starting pitching, filled with great or good pitchers, while the Twins are 26th.....
  17. deleted, I'm tired of this argument that goes in circles. A decision can be both right, and frustrating / disappointing.
  18. that would make him 10-15% more productive than last year on a rate basis! That seems optimistic, but I hope you are right.
  19. Fangraphs projection: Name PA AVG OBP SLG wOBA Bat BsR Fld WAR Joe Mauer 455 .268 .355 .390 .322 -0.5 -0.5 1.3 0.8 They project the Twins to be 18th in 1B WAR this year, give or take.
  20. I knew Hrbek was big, but he's so big he occupies third and first place in walks? I am guessing first is Harmon? total guess.
  21. I say he does what he did last year, rate wise. Counting wise? Adjust for 120 games. So, about the 18-20th best 1B in the league. As for Park staying, they got lucky no one claimed him, I guess. Because if they thought he was going to be here, they never would have cut* him. *or whatever fancy word MLB uses for what the transaction was.
  22. I am hoping more like 4, but think you are probably correct.
  23. 18 months is a fast track? Sigh, our standards here are so low...
