  1. KLAW tweeted it is total speculation on his part, but that Greene is the least likely player in the draft to get to pick 3....
  2. Agreed, I was responding to the poster that said if the top 5 are about the same, offer to sign one of them for less, at least I think that's what the person was saying. Frankly, I'd rather have the elite talent, and a top 40 guy, than a top 15-20 guy, and hope another top 20 guy a: drops, b: will sign with you.
  3. don't know if it will. That's a fair question. Other than the ETF change, which makes them A LOT more liquid, not sure I can answer that.
  4. See, I have been doing my research.....just wish I could buy in my retirement account before the ETF is real......If not that, if I will sell some stock to buy some, as a ST gamble. Assuming tax rates drop this year, ST gambles are worth more for a few years.....
  5. Mine is a guess....for one, I think the ETFs will be approved by the SEC. That alone could vault values by 20%. Also, I think there will be a dip in the market this year, not a collapse, but dip. I think in uncertain times, unless China somehow does kill it (they won't), bitcoin is a "safe" haven.
  6. only if you assume they are a car company...which may or may not be true. I think I have enough money there anyway....
  7. Plus, if the top 5 are about the same, how do you convince one of them to take number 5 money, given they will feel likely to be picked 1-3?
  8. told my wife I expected a 20% return by August on it. And, I don't have cash to invest outside my retirement accounts, and you can't buy it there.....so still thinking. Wish those ETF were real!
  9. yup, and yet I'm told not to worry that not 1 young player has been added to the roster for 59 win team.....indeed, they seem hell bent on getting older, not younger.
  10. I have a good amount of TSLA already. but, I was considering that. You would not like my retirement portfolio, or maybe you would. LOTS of IT stuff (GOOG, QQQ, Shopify, nvidia, workday, FB). Lots of risk in there. Of course, those assets have returned HUGE returns for me the last 12 months.
  11. Well, they aren't adding any young players. We just won't agree on this. For a 59 win team to promote zero players from the minors at the end of last year that will stick this year, and none to start this year, that disappoints me. Not asking you to be disappointed, it's just where I am. Heck, if Berrios and/or Duffey/May is in AAA, they have LESS young players than last year....
  12. I keep dragging my feet on bitcoin...... I have 15K in cash between my two big retirement accounts.....thoughts from anyone? I am NOT risk averse.....
  13. No chance I pass on elite talent for the small chance someone falls.
  14. Fair. I just have a REALLY hard time liking the roster not adding 1 young player to a 59 win team, and adding a bunch of mediocre veterans. All so something nebulous can maybe happen. And, while I like wins, I don't care about 78 vs 72 wins. I care about 2018 and beyond being good to great.
  15. your under the assumption: 1. Hughes will start. I'm not. 2. I should care about the success of anyone on the current SP staff, which I consider pretty much all placeholders at this point. IF Garver and Murphy aren't good at helping pitchers, do you want them catching Berrios and Gonsavles in AAA? If they are good at helping pitchers, don't you want one in the majors, so they are ready to help Berrios and others when they come up? Yes, they know more than I. Yes, a catcher will help these pitchers. But, ESan will be gone before this team is good. Gibson might be. Santiago will be, imo. Hughes will be a RP or hurt. I just can't get all that excited about helping THESE pitchers. Heck, the RP corps is pretty much guys that won't be here in 2 years either.....
  16. As I said yesterday, to what end? They appear to be going with a bunch of veterans. Who are they going to help develop the first half of the year? Also, if the young guys need so much help, and Murphy and Garver can't help them, how will Berrios and Gonsalves learn anything in AAA with such bad catching?
  17. Right, I have no issue with Castro being the starter right now, but I am wondering if there are any young guys that haven't already been in MN that will get a shot on a 59 win team.....it sure looks like not. That seems awfully hard to believe.
  18. Then do I care if Gimenez is here helping the pitchers? I still vote no.
  19. Legit question I am asking myself.....if Berrios is in AAA, and May is a RP, do I actually care about any of this SP staff 2-3 years from now?
  20. Does anyone think Castro is catching most games in year three of that deal? And while he doesn't have to replace him, he should probably play some before he has to.
  21. Backup QB syndnrome, and hope, and his amazing ability which none of us have seen....
  22. benjamin 12:30 does hunter greene have a very good chance to remain a starter? Eric A Longenhagen 12:31 I think so. Elite level athlete for a pitcher, delivery is gorgeous, prototypical size/strength, there's nothing not to like.
