  1. Man, I really trusted the brain trust on Stewart when he was picked. So depressing so far this year.
  2. if this is what they are stuck with, then the manager needs to actually use those players, whether he likes it or not...
  3. Let's just say we disagree that they need to trade for RP. Let's also disagree that they "started late" and not good RPs were available for them to sign. That's, um, just not true. They decided to add old, bad players. They then added more old, bad players. They clearly don't want to call up the any young RP from the minors. They don't want to take a starter from AA or AAA and make him a RP in the majors. Breslow and Belisle aren't "fine" or any other word for "meh". They are bad. No one wanted them on their roster for a reason. I do agree on your ESan take, he was great again. It's criminal how under rated he's been here. And, Mauer has been great in May. Let's hope he can keep it up.
  4. No one is anti RBI, people are anti using RBI as one of the best ways to say if a hitter is good or not, since they are very situational. A routine fly ball to the OF can be an RBI, or not, but it was still an out that the player had little control over.
  5. Another reason it will be hard to game the system: two other teams have 2nd picks before the Twins do.
  6. Fangraphs generally puts current and future value grades on players. In the top x write ups, he talks about probabilities in words. If people think prospect lists there and BA don't include that, they must be reading different lists than I am.
  7. In fairness, the bigger issue according to many on this site isn't expanding the zone, it is taking a FB down the middle of the zone on 2-0 counts with men in scoring position. That seems to be the issue most here have with him. He's not good compared to other 1B, that's a real issue for the competitiveness of this team.
  8. Didn't Mike Fraser law predict this, based on April numbers, on this site? We should all be happy when Mauer is hitting.....
  9. the argument being made was that the farm system didn't have good players, while also arguing that we need to keep those players to build for the future. It wasn't about where the Twins were in teh rebuild. It wasn't about who they should trade for. That's a different discussion, completely. People here are saying both: the twins don't have much minor league talent the twins can't trade their prospects because they need those guys to be competitive. It is hard to see how both of those are true, to some of us.
  10. I agree with Chief. You can't argue they have no prospects, and argue they shouldn't trade them because they need them for the future of the team. Either you think they are good and valuable, or the farm system won't be able to deliver enough players to make this team relevant any time soon.
  11. Of course the Royals are paying for it now. That's part of the price of acquiring talent thru trade of prospects. Cleveland also made trades, so did the Cubs. I'd argue the Twins are still paying the price for not trading Aaron Hicks (and whatever else) for Cliff Lee......
  12. You can't trade draft picks in baseball.
  13. I don't believe anyone has changed their mind on Greene at all. Why would they? I guess we just disagree on this. You either think Greene is a legit ACE and know what the risks are, and want to take him, or you don't. Pitching 2 more times for his HS team isn't going to change any opinions on his stuff.
  14. Ahem. Someone posted it wasn't over......
  15. How did shutting it down change anyone's mind on Greene? If anything changed, it was McKay and his drop as a pitcher, and Wright's continued dominance. How Greene not pitching changes anything is beyond me.
  16. What happened to that Buxton that was hot? I liked that Buxton a lot. This game is not over.
  17. Leave him in. Save all those bullpen arms.... disappointed.
  18. Wow. The ad server just served up a Mormon ad.... Good luck with that!
  19. btw, the picture with the thread? I've been growing a "beard" for almost two weeks now. It would end up looking like those if I kept going. I think I'll be shaving it off over the weekend. OTOH, I will be visiting my mom next week, and she hates when I don't shave, so it's tempting to keep it.
  20. Depends, do you mean for this year, or for the next 5+ years? those lists are VERY different. For example, the Dodgers have a minor leaguer that some think has no position, but he can really hit. That's very different than saying that bad team X has player Y that can hit.
