  1. Except that's not the option.....You need one of those guys to be the number 5, that still leaves two spots open. Cole and ? fill those?
  2. How do you propose getting 4 starters here, if you don't QO one or both of Pineda and Odo?
  3. There aren't going to be two better pitchers than Berrios going to any one team, let alone here. That's just not realistic, given history of all of MLB.
  4. I'm not sure I get promoting Harper. They've seen him. Isn't the goal to see the new pitchers?
  5. Keep one of Pineda or Odorrizi. Sign one of the five best free agents, they have plenty of money. Trade for someone, I couldn't list a specific name, but there will be a decent or good pitcher traded this off season. I can't guarantee it is better than this year, but you can't not sign anyone and go with four rookies. It also isn't realistic to expect them to sign three good free agents, as some have suggested. No team has ever done that. This front office chose to have this problem, by not singing anyone or trading for anyone, and it isn't an easy one to fix.
  6. Ridiculous straw man argument. Seriously, no one has suggested this.
  7. They don't really have an option. They need to keep one, if not two, of the three free agents. Having money, and actually signing free agents you want, doesn't always happen. They'll have to outbid lots of teams for the few really good free agent starters. And no, they aren't going into next year with three or four rookie starters to start the year. No serious playoff contender does that.
  8. Good luck to Gibson. Health issues suck. It also potentially explains this season. I expect Alcala and Hildeberger to be up after Rochester is done. Well, hope on Alcala.
  9. On the plus side, no one is stealing this coach for awhile....
  10. You will be lucky to get two thirds of a year from Pineda. Perez? So, basically the same rotation?
  11. It's clear the bullpen is a stars and scrubs group, or at least it was before all the DFA action. Now? The two new additions add depth and talent for sure. I have no idea if any of the less experienced players are good or not, just not enough data.
  12. I don't want to point to one player. It could be that they are drafting better hitters.... I mean, they took power hitters early, not pitchers and not Nick Gordon. Maybe that's why there are more home runs. I am saying nothing more or less than one year doesn't tell us much at all about development in the minors.
  13. Roster resource on fangraphs has all the data you need on options.... As for Romero.... Exhibit A for trading prospects sometimes.... His lack of helping the team this year is definitely part of the bullpen problem. I got no answers for what to do, though
  14. Astudillo is the easiest.... He is not on the roster unless there is an injury. Eleven or twelve pitchers. Great post, btw.
  15. Hard to say. I'm not sure how we would judge this. Other than Arreaz, not much help has come this year. Yet. I suppose we could see if the twins get more risers in rankings?
  16. Heck of a last scene in that Star Wars teaser!
  17. That new Mandelorian preview is awesome.
  18. John Carter of Mars was not as bad as I had been led to believe. My wife and I were mostly entertained.
  19. It is their job to make the team better, not Chief's. They acted just like the last regime, trading meh prospects away, but keeping the best ones. The exact opposite of Houston. So, yes, exactly what many of us said would happen. The window is wide open, and they added two ok relief pitchers. But at least they didn't spend money on Keuchel, or top prospects on anyone. So the window can open again, only to allow them to do the same thing again and again.
