  1. Trade for an already good pitcher, or don't bother, imo. They have plenty of prospects to fix.... No sense trying to fix a veteran. That's why you sign a bounce back candidate.
  2. You wouldn't pay $20MM per year for 3-4 fWAR per year at SS?
  3. Jeffers tied for 13th most home runs among catchers.....and close to the top 10 (though getting there seems unlikely).
  4. Not interested. He's not a SS with the glove at all from all reports.
  5. He leads with his elbow, which hides the pitch longer.
  6. the headline and the last paragraph don't go very well together.....he still looks like possibly a mid-rotation starter. Frankly, I doubt ANY scouting reports had him that good.....so maybe the headline is right, but the last paragraph isn't... I think he's a 4, that will sometimes pitch like a 3. That's a good pitcher. 2 WAR a year, give or take. It was a GREAT trade.
  7. I've never liked the Rooker pick, so you are nicer than me.......
  8. I guess Miranda has been a tiny bit better.....their numbers are nearly identical. That said, Miranda is a better defender, and is younger......but I don't get why anyone thinks he needs to be up this year (not sure if you do or not).....but he's no more earned it than Rooker did, which was my point. Rooker will be on another team's roster, and Miranda will be in MN at some point next year. IMO.
  9. Did 29 teams pass on every free agent the twins have signed? I think we are just going to disagree here, which is fine with me.
  10. Did you look at them in AAA? I don't disagree, but that's hardly the point. He's no more earned it than Brent did.... Why does he need to be up this year?
  11. HIs AAA stats are worse than Rooker's.....what is the hurry, here?
  12. He wasn't expected to be a 1.0 fWAR guy.........who would you have put at SS? I'm guessing 99% of the people in MLB and this site would disagree with you, btw.
  13. Those aren't even comparable situations at all. Not even close.
  14. It is almost like looking at BA alone, and not all aspects of a hitter, including position, is a good idea...... Jeffers is putting up decent numbers for a CATCHER who is a rookie. He's 31st in fWAR among catchers......partly because he's 15th in home runs among MLB catchers......if you only looked at Home Runs and saw a player ranked 15th at his position in all of MLB, you'd think he was great.....
  15. I'm guessing they are looking for starters next year ... He has been a starter, not a good one. I have strong doubts, given his track record..... My fear is they count on him for next year, and he reverts to what he's been.... As for today, nice to win.
  16. I was responding to a post that talked about not going with an OF who was hot in spring training. Separately, I didn't get the Dobnak to the bullpen decision at all. Nor the shoemaker signing.
  17. The literally won the division the last two years before this.....I got no idea how anyone can feel all they sell is hope.
  18. If the FO makes decisions based on hot spring training stats....that would be bad.
  19. The young pitchers need a mentor or two..... They need at least one veteran, probably two. Then use the rest of the staff to rotate guys in.....
  20. There is no realistic path to a great staff to start next year. No team has added three great pitchers in one off-season. With luck, they could have a good rotation next year, but it will be luck.
  21. who is saying we know Ober is good? We are saying he's in the starting rotation.....I guess someone may be saying that, but I don't think most are.....He might be? But we pretty much know he's in the rotation next year....
  22. I'd only bring in two from outside the org at this point. Free agent ( a 2/3, not a 5) Trade (a 2/3, not a 4/5) Ober Ryan or someone Someone else from inside the org Lots of guys in AAA that are young for a change..... I think bringing in a third from the outside just means that a lot of high upside arms spend next year in the minors.....rather than getting time in MN.
