  1. My point remains the same. There are posts here that trading him was the doom of the season. It's not one guy. Also, who is pitching instead of Lopez? It would be great to have him and Lopez..... But that wasn't an option.
  2. Those last two episodes redeemed that last season in the eyes of many. I loved it all (well, maybe not LOVED).
  3. I'm not sure what they should have done with Buxton, but IIRC, this board loved his signing as a "low risk" opportunity. Alas, sometimes even low risk things don't work out. I am hoping, illogically I think, that he gets healthy next year.....
  4. Fair, my main point was that process matters, and the FO dictates the process, and if process isn't working, that's on the FO (as is the skill of the players).
  5. I don't think for one minute the players don't care. Not one single player.
  6. This is a great point......it is also interesting, because it is the theory that the hitting coach should be fired. If the players are just doing what the coach is saying, then he should be fired because the process he's put in place isn't working. But, as you point out, the FO wants THAT PROCESS. So, unless they admit their mistake and adjust, they are the real issue (if it is process, and not skill).
  7. I think the problem is the players aren't good. I think I've been pretty clear on that. To add: I don't think any manager could win at a decent clip with three bad OFers, CC playing like this, and Buxton being hurt. Not one. So, as I've said, I don't know if I'd fire him or not, because I don't think we know if he can manage a good (complete, with good players hitting and pitching) or not, other than the two years he had that and they won.
  8. If Carmago came up and was even good, why not? They are adding almost no cost. (note, I have no idea if he's any good at the MLB level, certainly no team saw this coming this year).
  9. You posted Buxton should take less money, do you really think that's realistic? The money is not important to this team, the fact he's not healthy is. He should, IMO, be on the IL until he can play in the field.
  10. You can do the wrong thing, and it works. You can do the right thing, and it doesn't work. You judge people by what they do. For example, if you drive home drunk and make it, would you judge that as right? And keep doing it? That said, I have no idea if Rocco is good at his job, and admit he might be part of the problem (but IMO, the problem is the skill of the players).
  11. As pointed out, no, Taylor isn't close to a legit starting CF. And, there is no indication they want AK in the OF right now (I'd do it, but if you look at AK this whole year, he's not been all that good, yet).
  12. You base this on what? We have no idea how the players feel about him. None.
  13. The buck stops with the FO not giving him any good OFers at all....and a DH that isn't healthy.
  14. Ah, got it. Yes, it would be great if they had good players (which was the point of my post, they don't, imo). And, I don't think for 1 minute Acuna would rest once a week.
  15. hahahaha. Rose colored glasses? He's calling for changes all over the board.
  16. you believe that CC would hit better if he was placed in the 3 hole and left there? What routine really changes other than the first time thru the order?
  17. Based on what? Outcomes? Also, yes or no, the OF hitters on this roster are legit starters?
  18. We really going to use BA as the sole measure? Some of those are rounding errors..... You can think it is the hitting coach, but I would argue having three DFA / backup players as starters in the OF, before this year that's what they were, is the issue, not the batting coach. Also, it is clear Buxton and CC are hurt, so I'm sure that's a much bigger issue for them than the hitting coach.
  19. I'm curious, but isn't their role to get a hit, no matter the spot in the lineup? I can't imagine it matters one iota to the vast majority of veterans what their batting order number is, other than pride.
  20. Not my point at all.....my point is that that's not what sunk the season, since he was on the team last year and they didn't win then either.....
  21. So you think this is a good hitting roster? It isn't the players?
  22. Wallner could be worse than Kepler, but we won't know if he doesn't play, putting them in a bad spot next off season...... You gotta find out this year.
  23. I mean, Gallo was amazing at first, but not so much lately. He won't be back next year, and as constructed, this team isn't winning the WS. Now is the time to move on. See what you have in the young players so you can decide what to do next off season......
