  1. Martin has to be added after the season, so that isn't it.
  2. He could be in AAA and still be on the 40 man roster.....ready in case Castro or MAT can't play (or Buxton).
  3. it does not matter.....if they know they'll win their petition.
  4. Good for him. I'm hoping he gets a real shot to play.
  5. right....so easy to get him on the 40 man yesterday. My guess is they are assuming MAT and Buxton will be healthy for the playoffs.....and it won't matter.....I don't agree. I see no upside to NOT making him available, just in case.
  6. Sure....if they can deal Lee for a legit SP, I'd consider that too. Probably not Lewis, though his injury history makes me nervous....I see him, if healthy, as a STAR.
  7. Sure he could have, just option a pitcher (or Farmer) for 10 days, but I'm not sure they had to get him on the 26 man, just the 40. The pitcher could be replaced by Varland for those 10 days, for example, today, when the rosters expanded.
  8. He could have been put on the 40 man easily....he can't replace Miranda on the playoff roster unless they win their petition. I agree, I'm glad he's on the roster....
  9. 100% they expect AK, Castro, and Buxton up in the next week or two....in the meantime, Luplow keeps playing. IF Buxton can't play CF, and IF MAT's hammy is still an issue, I'd like there to be another CF option than Gallo on the 40 man....
  10. Why not just put him there yesterday?
  11. I'd love for Lewis to be the starting CF (or Martin)......and for Lee to be at third. But I don't believe Lewis will be there for a second. We'll know in March/April....
  12. As far as I can tell, they now have a 39 man team for the playoffs, not 40.
  13. Julien is at 2nd if they don't trade him. 100% of the time. Where would they play Lee if Lewis is at third and Julien at 2nd? AAA.
  14. If he's healthy...but why not IL Miranda yesterday and put Stevenson on the 40 man?
  15. But now they have 39 guys on the 40 man for the playoffs......that's my point. They could have done this yesterday and kept him in AAA until today. If they waive Stevenson w/o a fully healthy Buxton and MAT, that would be odd, imo.
  16. too late! That's the point of my original post.....
  17. If they need MAT insurance, he really should have been up yesterday......
  18. Buxton hasn't played more than a third of the games in a year almost ever.....Martin or Lewis will play more CF than Buxton next year and every year after that. If Lewis is at third, no idea where Lee is other than St. Paul.
  19. I'd take a chance on him over Gallo all day, every day at this point. But clearly they disagree.
  20. He's also a LH hitting OF....which I thought they had too many of? Like, I really don't get this at all....
  21. So, they are calling up Stevenson....but he can't be on the playoff roster? Why would you do this? Why not yesterday? Unless I'm not understanding, this seems really, really, really, odd.
  22. We'll never know if Lee can play until he's in the majors......It's all about Lewis' and CC's health....if they are healthy, Lee sits in ST. P as insurance.....I doubt, very much, as you point out, he will hit like Julien. Julien has been awesome.....and I believe he'll be somewhere between his peak this year and Steer.....My point is that they have depth, but not much young pitching that anyone trusts. Depth is great! But having more starters that are great is better.....
  23. Ya, I'm not convinced I'm right, nor am I convinced I'm wrong. I'd bet good money he's the starting 2B next year.
  24. Well, unless Lewis also moves to the OF, Lee will sit in AAA no matter how he plays, until there is an injury. We know that, given this year. So, I do see a logjam. I'd rather move Julien for a really good pitcher and have more good/great players in the majors, than sitting in AAA.
