    The next time you want to try a rookie or a guy in a new situation will be the first. The bullpen was shot, and they could have used Varland in a Maeda start almost certainly. We know stands is bad just like Luplow and Gallo, who you also don't want rookies to replace. Stevenson already has more hits than Gallo and Luplow can dream about.

    Also, just cut him open and operate is naive and ignores the fact it doesn't always work and he's a human, not some robot you can just cut up.

    There's nothing surprising about Jenkins continuing to play. Martin is healthy. That's the difference. He was a top pick and prospect for a reason. I'm intrigued by the catchers, but it's likely Vazquez blocks them next year no matter how bad he is.

    Yes. There might have had to be another small move, but yes. I will say, this way, they get to choose who replaces Miranda, and possibly now Buxton, so that could be the sliver of logic.

    I'm only trading him for a guy I think is a legit, young, starting pitcher, not just to clear space. They need pitching next year and the years after....

    My concern is that Martin and Lee will just sit in AAA, providing no value. As this FO and manager defer to veterans. Just like Wallner and Julien until injuries forced their hand.
