  1. That was my first thought also. The bullpen was NOT what kept this "core" from competing...... I'm glad we now have the new owners announced. But talk, like the Pohlad's, is cheap. Let's see what they do to relentlessly focus on winning (like signing a mediocre first baseman/DH).
  2. Zips change at first base after signing Bell - 0 change. Literally the same number as before. 7 million well spent!
  3. No to all those. Lewis and Keaschell haven't shown any ability to be healthy. Wallner is 28. Lee? Wut?
  4. Geezo beezo. I hadn't really thought about this. Really? He's the third highest paid player?
  5. If I'm the second or third QB this year, I come out, because I'm not in the top five next year. Unless I get millions to stay, which I'm sure he'll get offered by Knight.
  6. I'm guessing I'd not like most pro athletes, given what we read.... luckily, you can just root for jerseys.
  7. Why would you move Keascell to the OF at this point? Four of Their top prospects are OF. Long term, it's about those 4 (2-3 being good or better). They also have Wallner and Roden and Martin on the roster (or Larnach/Outman). If Keaschell was moving anywhere, IMO, it would be first base.....
  8. Please don't. That said, McCarthy seems like the kind of guy people (well, some fans) like on their team, but hate on the other team. Just guessing here.....
  9. Concur. They need Turner to take his place and save some money.
  10. It would be great if he hits like he did the 2nd half of last year all year. That is, however, not likely. But, hey, it could happen.
  11. Career? Almost all of that was more than 3 years ago. If he DHs, he blocks Wallner or Roden (or Larnach, who I still don't get how he's around still) from playing. If he doesn't Dh, well, he's not good at first base at all. So, it comes down to a guy that isn't a great hitter playing awful defense at first, or blocking the Twins from finding out if Roden can hit or not in a likely lost year.
  12. It is getting hard to believe anything good is happening here....
  13. Who said there is any easy fix? Calling people who disagree with your take childish? Nice.
  14. Play Roden at first? Wallner at DH? Make a trade or three? Not sign a guy that was not good for three straight years?
  15. He has a lower OPS than Wallner each of the last three years .... And many of you liking this deal want to get rid of Wallner.
  16. This. If you aren't rebuilding, you should be trying to win. As for Lewis, he's supposed to be a great leader. He's been sold that way since he signed. Let's see what happens this year.
  17. Fangraphs had him the 140 th best free agent, and Minnesota, who claims to have a limited budget, spent 7 million on him....
  18. If he's the DH, he's blocking Roden from playing, unless they bench or trade Wallner.... who should be the DH. If he's the first baseman, good luck to the people near the first base line. So, unless he's the starting first baseman, he's absolutely blocking people.
  19. Not a fan at all. What's the plan? Because there doesn't seem to be one. Dude was terrible 2.5 years and really good for half a year, in the last three years. For a team on a budget, you can't spend money on replacement level guys. Can't wait until falvey is gone.
  20. There are better ways to spend Christmas. Or any day.
  21. Already glad I'm not watching.
  22. They might be toast next year if Parsons misses a year ish..
  23. Truth
