    At the moment, there is no one in the bullpen who you feel good about coming in, who you know can give you that quick, shutout inning. That's bad news. Thielbar had an amazing shutout streak when he was first called up. Maybe a guy from the minors like Achter or Meyer or even a AA guy could give the bullpen that shot in the arm.

    Yes for the first couple months we were lucky and good. Now we're just good, in the same sense that 20-25 other teams are "good," to say nothing of the swoon the whole team is in.

    Good job with the mock picks. My boy Josh Graham of Oregon, the guy who wants to be a starting pitcher and then be starting catcher on his off days, was taken by the Braves in the 4th round, 120 overall. Mariano Rivera, son of Mariano Rivera, went at the end of the 4th round (Washington).

    Ironically, his recent relief appearances have lasted longer than one or two of his starts did. The mechanics question is a good one. Does anyone know if Meyer is pitching exclusively from the stretch? Or is he starting innings with the wind up?

    Meyer seems really coachable. His first bullpen appearances seem promising. I'm ok if he finishes 2015 in relief and doesn't enter the conversation as a starter again until next spring.

    Even Ryan said there was nothing wrong with his shoulder! Instead of putting Meyer on the DL, couldn't they have just called him up anyway and given him some rest prior to his first appearance? The plot thickens

    I'm guessing the Twins are still high on Meyer so I would expect people to keep defending him when other people throw out stuff like "he blew out his shoulder last August." The story about Meyer seems to change depending on who you are talking to. The September bullpen story was probably Gardy lobbying through the press but like I said, who knows. Maybe that was actually the plan. My understanding was he was up against his pitch or inning limit, even though I admit that was probably more of a range than an exact number. Whatever, I'm glad he's doing well in the bullpen now.

    That is bizarre, because in the Scoggins story Mientkiewicz is quoted as saying Polanco is without question ready for a promotion. Who to believe?
