  1. Rosario lead off single. It was 4-0 when I turned it on, now 4-5, so I'm going to do Twins Territory and tune out for the night. Thanks all, I will lurk to make sure I don't miss anything. Great set up Riverbrian!!!
  2. you could be right about that. Somebody once said in a Parker pitch framing thread said Suzuki had short arms. It sounded silly but there may be something to that.
  3. I think the called strike one would be more appropriate for this game, but whatever, great gif anyway
  4. The 'F' in Casey Fien's last name actually stands for f***
  5. Nice. Pretty much. The Latin word for left handed is: "sinister" (no joke) Maybe Bucknor is left handed......
  6. If only all the veterans could hit as well as Miguel Sano and Eduardo Escobar........
  7. remember you can only drive 15 mph through Ontario
  8. Duffey was pitching fine, his pitches were just a bit out of the strike zone. As weird as that is to say.
  9. Horrible third strike call. Keep your shirt on, Torii.
  10. This could be read many ways. Maybe Berrios shouldn't have pitched so well.
  11. Yes and no. Berrios is not some guy who wandered in off the street. He's a high draft pick. The whole point is for him to pitch in MLB, and he's demonstrated he's ready to do that. And just as important, the Twins need him. In my opinion, calling him up is best for both parties. (Although I note you are one of the posters who think the Twins should have thrown in the towel on 2015 ) Do the Twins know what's best for Berrios? Probably, but not necessarily. The Twins operate as a traditional organization with time-tested methods for player development, methods which a lot of progressive organizations seem to have abandoned. Given Berrios made it his stated mission to pitch in MLB by his 21st birthday (May 27th), and given how well he's pitched since then and handled himself, I'd wonder if the right thing would have been to call him up last month. They may yet call him up, so we'll see. In other organizations, you see top prospects making very short starts in Milb in order to conserve energy, and you see 21 year old pitchers contributing in pennant chases, as bullpen or starters. Lance McCullers is a real good example at the moment. Age 21 is not as young as it sounds anymore. So, the disappointment being expressed here is not exactly coming from out of no where.
  12. This is actually a decent comp. Not close to perfect but somewhere in the ballpark, at least. Biggest differences being control and Berrios has been healthy all year.
  13. During these past few great starts, Berrios probably thought he was pitching for a promotion to MLB. Poor kid.
  14. I'd like to hear one of the Twins Daily writers give one good reason why Berrios pitched 6 innings and 91 pitches tonight. EDIT: you could argue the Twins are genuinely not concerned with an innings limit, given how young and strong he is. But gee whiz, leave a little in the tank for him Maybe they'll use him in the bullpen? This team just gets me sometimes.
  15. Let's hope that Texas heat is working it's magic, and both the Rangers AND the Astros start wearing down.
  16. Works for me, though there's really no playing time to be had for either of them.
  17. Provus interviewed Antony who basically said it will be either Santana or Polanco, one but not both.
  18. If the sunflower seeds is part of the plan to wean him off dip, then I'm all for it. Chewing them while actually batting doesn't bother me too much. He's probably got nerves and it gives him something to channel that nervousness. Probably is not affecting his plate appearance.
  19. So: Graham is eligible to come off 15-day DL on Sept 11 (give or take a day). Berrios is called up Sept 1st with some other guys (someone is dropped from 40-man to make room for Berrios); Graham remains on 15-day DL through end of season, Twins do not reactivate him; Twins make postseason, Graham is still injured, and therefore Berrios can replace Graham on postseason roster? The only formality is certain permission from the commissioner's office?
  20. yippie kay yay, jerks! I'd go into Toronto with Duffey's slider/curveball, May and Jepson in relief, and maybe even an inning of Alex Meyer, someone they haven't seen yet.
  21. So hypothetical: Graham is currently on the 15-day DL and therefore eligible to be on a 25-man postseason roster. Berrios is not called up Sept 1 and remains at Rochester until their season ends, and is still not called up to join Twins after the Rochester season. Not called up at all. In late September, Graham is moved to 60-day DL. Berrios would then be eligible to be called up to the 25-man to replace Graham, no one is dropped from the 40-man roster, and Berrios gets full postseason eligibility?
  22. At this late stage, what are the mechanics for getting Berrios on the 25-man prior to Sept 1st, so that he can cleanly qualify for a possible postseason roster? Can players on the 25-man still be optioned? I am envisioning a situation where Berrios replaces O'Rourke tonight or tomorrow and some third player removed from the 40 man. Like you, I'm not sure what Ryan needs to see in this Berrios start tomorrow night. (Talk about SSS). Hopefully it will be a 2 inning start, followed immediately by a shower and trip to the airport.
  23. this is what I've been thinking. Is it too late to do a Berrios-O'Rourke swap before September 1?
  24. The Berrios call up is the big one that hopefully happens prior to Sept. 1
