  1. Didn't see the game, but I'm told the White Sox scored without the aid of a bunt. Can someone confirm this?
  2. Good job! I think right now, less is more And depending on how the game goes, we might want you to do 90 more of these
  3. It is frustrating that this is the third consecutive year Perkins has gotten hurt and then subsequently said he needs to be smarter in the future about pitching with an injury. Unti he can throw many consecutive fastballs at 94+ and feel good, he probably shouldn't be put into a close ballgame. Who knows when that will be. I'm sure the Twins will say all the right things and claim he is still the closer. It's sad, because when he was on, he was lights out and you could bank on it.
  4. I seem to recall Molitor overusing guys last year and not using other guys hardly at all (like Stauffer)... But now that I think of it, O'Rourke was one of the guys he didn't trust so never mind
  5. If Molitor doesn't trust everyone in his bullpen, then maybe it's a better idea to have a loogy like O'Rourke on the roster who only has to pitch to one batter a game anyway.
  6. Which leads to a better question: why was Tonkin brought north at all, then?
  7. I've heard or read in several places that "young guys are going to struggle." Granted I might be hearing this in the broadcasts and amplifying it in my head, but Jack Morris who is supposedly a straight shooter also said it on Barreiro yesterday. It's only half true. What about the old guys who are struggling? I'm really not too bothered by the slow start but the veterans are definitely getting a free pass in this. Again. I mean, if it weren't for Mauer hitting lights out, this team would probably be 0-7. oh wait
  8. You are starting to hear this a lot in various places in the media. I don't know where these ideas come from. You are 100% correct. Plouffe, Dozier, Suzuki are not young guys. Perkins, Jepsen and Fien are not young guys.
  9. Yes. And going into week 2 with an 0-1 record.
  10. This is good data and I followed the links, but I have to agree with LaBombo in that there are some validity issues, mainly that these articles and data are primarily focused on the relationship between production, aging, and they don't really get to the topic of how changing positions is going to affect the injury risk of our big, whiffing slugger. Also, who knew there was a team called the San Francisco Padres? small details and stuff https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hO9cuW2gX1ViAL-SA7LP5ggLHvs5POHY2po1oneetTE/edit#gid=4 I will continue to believe that the most pertinent data points are right in front of our face: Kyle Schwarber's ligaments and Danny Santana's hamstring. To that data we can add the near collision between You Know Who and You Know Who on a fifth inning single on Monday. At least that play took place in slow motion and it would have looked more like a clumsy embrace with at worst somebody getting a bloody lip, than what happened between Schwarber and Fowler in Chicago. But thanks again for the links. It's obvious that we all care about this issue even though we might disagree on the risk and its overall importance in the grand scheme.
  11. Or at least the rotation!
  12. It was a very late slide, but like you said, he did it correctly.
  13. "I know I've made some very poor decisions lately" Is this video referencing the fans or the front office?
  14. By the way, did everyone see the slide in the 5th that Molitor jumped out to challenge, and then decided better of it? The tamest slide ever. It's really unfortunate that this is the new mentality, that of finger pointing and coaches challenges. Yes, the fans lose when more and more calls on the field are ruled on by replay guys in New York.
  15. I admit you are right about this.
  16. In fairness, and I'm not bashing Mauer, but Mauer hasn't done him any favors since two of the balls were low throw scoop plays. But the Escobar boot on Saturday was critical. In fact, Dozier has been pretty substandard too from what I've seen. Every one on this team needs to look in the mirror!
  17. Arcia strikes out too much, and Kepler hasn't completed his orientation paperwork yet. Hope that help!
  18. I really don't like the idea of losing Arcia's bat, and Sano deserves at least a fighting chance to show he can or cannot become a serviceable 3B, but as an omnibus legislative bill, all or none, take it or leave it, I will accept your changes and vote in favor. Now get to work on bullpen legislation.
  19. I'll buy your ticket and give you $20 bucks spending money. PM me.
  20. We needed one of these today..... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oULt45Vgx_Q/VnnrBSkdJnI/AAAAAAAAAZI/W3pglK2JLyA/s1600/Star-wars-baseball-gif.gif
  21. so if we *do* have a close game tomorrow, May and Pressly are used up and it's on Jepsen and Perk.
  22. I may have to slightly recant my criticism of Reusse. Not really, but he might have a point. Because Sano swung and missed on a ball right down broadway. Never mind broadway, that pitch was right down the two yellow median stripes of broadway.
  23. Not even the 1988 Baltimore Orioles, who started 0-21?
