  1. Definitely some truth to all of this.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it also looked like Suzuki struck out on a pitch measured not in inches, but feet, off the plate. As in 3 feet low and away. I did see the catcher lunge for it from where I was sitting. But, yeah.
  3. I do agree with this. I think my biggest issue is that people (not just on Twins Daily) seem to think that base runners have malicious intent and want to actually hurt the guy.
  4. The old system was fine, except for two things: 1. Plays like Utley's and Bautista's needed to be enforced on the field, with severe action taken against the player if necessary (fine, suspension) and, 2. Baseball teams shouldn't use middle infielders from Asia as middle infielders in the American game. That's really about it.
  5. I disagree. The rule was put in to prohibit Utley's football "slide" that took out Tejada, not the slide that took out Kang. It's pretty well documented that middle infielders who learned the game in Asia always have the problem of planting their legs when they make the turn.
  6. Whether the base runners feel it's fair or not, it will be on them to change their behavior. I hope you are right that managers don't get too carried away with challenges on this!
  7. Yeah, you know, dropkicks, roundhouse kicks, folding chairs over the head, the types of slides you see all the time at second base.
  8. Exactly. I would add it's already turning into a ticky-tack, finger pointing play which managers will begin challenging and guys in New York will be ruling on instead of the umpires.
  9. Wow. They are calling this extremely tight. I'm really not sure how I feel about this one. And I definitely don't want to see middle infielders turning into finger pointers like Murphy did.
  10. I'm surprised he can't give a coherent answer to that question at this point in his career. A politician like him should at least have a talking point to regurgitate. Maybe he can hire Rubio to his campaign for memorization tips. Granted, the WaPo opinion writers are the biggest tools in the MSM in my opinion, but I'm definitely not feeling the bern after seeing that one.
  11. I see the strikeout as more of a paradox than disconnect. You want pitchers who can get strikeouts, but your batters striking out is not such a big deal anymore.
  12. The Twins have another minor dilemma on their hands by the way Danny Santana finished spring training. Hitting everything in sight. I'd like to see Santana get into the lineup somehow to see if they can capitalize on that late spring training performance and get him hitting again, but I don't want to see Escobar removed from the lineup either. It would also be tough to take Buxton out of center, example being of what an easy catch Buxton made of that deep Chris Davis ball in the 8th.
  13. In this case I agree. Although Fangraphs classifies balls like that as either remote 1-10% chance or unlikely 10-40% chance to catch. That ball was in the air a long time and certainly not an impossible catch. Fangraphs has both Arcia and Hunter as catching remote or unlikely chance balls like that in the past.http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=10306&position=OF#iefielding Sano is more likely to hurt himself trying to catch a ball like that than actually catch it.
  14. Yeah but as any fantasy football player knows, Phillip Rivers has historically been a second half QB.
  15. The Twins could maybe reduce their strikeout rate by calling up Adam Brett Walker?
  16. Also May was a positive. I hope he grows into the shut down man role because he could be good!
  17. The Adam Jones 2-run double. Just watched the video. I think an above average RF would have a 50-50 chance to catch it, but like people said, it was crushed, it was more of a fly ball than line drive, but it was hit off the wall in right center. But check this out: it looks like Sano actual broke *in* on it. As if it was hit in front of him. Buckle up folks this is going to be ugly!
  18. probably a Nordeast for me, but not til later
  19. First Twins home run in 2016: Go!
  20. yah you'd think if they were postponing, they would have done it by now, instead of waiting to get everyone to the park and then telling them to go home? Maybe the game will end sometime around 10 tonight so I can catch the end
  21. Tetherball game thread comments: "Wow, the USAF Chief really got smacked in the head with that one" "The damn thing is on a rope and goes in circles, how did he not see it??"
