  1. Commenters on this site have every right to be skeptical of anything injury related that comes out. Honest communication about injuries in this organization is non-existent.
  2. The update I heard on the radio maybe a couple weeks ago was that Buxton felt great, was at 100%, except as he was decelerating after a sprint he would feel something in his hip as he came to a stop. No knee issue to report, no hamstring, no migraines, nothing except that little twinge in his hip when pulling up at the end of a hard run. Otherwise ready to go.
  3. I think Royce would have gotten him at second, yes. I am fine disagreeing! It would have been a close play. Lots of plays are. I think you are right, that the runner slides in harder if Lee reacts, instead of pulling up. Instead of a throw, it needed to be a sideways pitch. I tried to find a gif but couldn’t, so here’s a video. Lewis was a little further away than Panik here but the pitch in this position saves time instead of squaring up to throw.
  4. I have to disagree. I think a sharp sideways toss to second to the glove side, gets the runner and starts the dp. Especially if the runner is pulling up at second like he does there. Thrown balls travel faster than baserunners. The sad thing is if Vázquez fields the throw and applies the tag, he probably has time to throw to first and complete the double play anyway.
  5. The funny thing is, either last year or during this years winning streak, I heard someone on the radio ask Rocco to explain the team’s success and these were were pretty much Rocco’s exact words. “Guys come to the park and know what is expected of them, and are able to settle into their roles.”
  6. That ground ball to Lewis looked identical to the ground ball to Julien the other day. It doesn’t look like either Julien or Lewis are comfortable trying to pitch or flip the baseball sideways to the shortstop on that play. The ground ball to Lewis should have been a double play. Even so, Vázquez needs to catch that short hop. Also I don’t understand the obsession with contact plays with your runner on third, or constantly trying to cut the opposing runners down at home plate at all times. These are decisions from the dugout. If you get the easy outs there, the inning doesn’t spiral. Even on that first one, if you play the infield at medium depth, and Miranda fields it instead of Lee, it’s an easy play to first and it’s 2-0 with two outs and bases empty.
  7. I think this is not as hypothetical as you are making it 🙂 One answer to this, from a similar thread last year, was, “to plan which night to drive down to the cities and take our kid to a game that we know Buxton will be in the lineup.”
  8. Where I disagree with you is I think they should have cleared the shortstop position for Lewis. Usually you want prospects to earn the job, but I think Lewis was a different breed and it was ok to just ink him in at short for the next 10-15 years like the Yankees did with Jeter.
  9. Reminder, that the highest scoring NFL Game of all time was a 1966 battle between the Washington Redskins and New York Giants
  10. For Correa, I think they will use the Miami series as a “rehab” and if he can’t get through that, then they will know they can leave him off the postseason roster. The Baltimore series at the very end might work too if nothing is at stake. There is just too much to lose by putting Correa on the postseason roster cold, and then watching him crumple to the ground on national television suddenly, or what is more likely and less dramatic, need to be removed between innings.
  11. It looked like an “atom” ball, which are difficult to gauge, off the bat. The ones hit right at you. The higher the exit velocity, the less time to react. If Margot is standing five feet to either side, he sees the angle better and makes the catch.
  12. Personally, I would have those two reversed. But that’s a matter of taste, a Coke, Pepsi thing. I listen to interviews, and I love Levine’s candor and detest Falvey’s shallow dismissiveness about everything. (Beat writers sound the same way.) “The Twins are great, everything is incredible, we got this.” Maybe Joe Pohald eats that **** up. Maybe Falvey shows a different side in private. If Levine is the one ultimately calling the shots on things like the Mahle trade or Gallo signing or pulling the trigger on other bigger dollar signings, well then Levine should get the pink slip. Either way, we will all be cheering together like last year i hope when the playoffs roll around. Baseball is too much fun in October.
  13. Thanks; I don’t think that’s the reason. Baldelli had Kepler pencilled into the lineup Sunday then Kepler was a late scratch.
  14. Ok so I won’t ignore it — do we actually know why Kepler’s knee is sore? @Matthew Trueblood @Cody Christie
  15. Royce Lewis should be the Twins shortstop. People know this. It is unfortunate however that on this website, you can count on one hand the number of people willing to say so, and still have fingers left over. There is still more context that was left out from the Provus-Baldelli interview, if anyone is truly interested and has time. The funny thing about this is that Castro is not really that good at short. But by the Twins logic, the inferior player is the one who is immovable?
  16. I am trying to envision the New York Yankees moving Derek Jeter around the infield.
  17. The fact they handed the shortstop role to Castro and now see Lewis as more of a utility guy,… cannot be helpful. /rant
  18. Well darn it, that’s probably gonna do it for me and for the Twins tonight (but you never know)
  19. Rocco should install a computer in the dugout for real-time game thread updates!! 🤣
  20. Thanks - both Kare11 and my weather app indicated a second wave of storms going past 10pm*. to quote the new Twins ace, Simeon Woods Richardson**, on refusing to open a box with a fake spider yesterday afternoon: “This is why I have trust issues.” *always check two sources, haha **only half joking
  21. Well I might ask for the actual rule
