  1. Poppen pitched in a June 7 loss to Clinton. 4.2 IP, 6 hits, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO At first glance, it appears not to be Poppen's finest outing. However, according to the MiLB game log, in the 22 batters Poppen faced, only three balls were hit in the air: a line drive single in the 3rd, a fly ball triple in the 4th, and a pop out in the 5th. The result was that Poppen's Groundout-Flyout ratio was 10:0 for the game. Earlier in the afternoon, it was announced that Poppen had been chosen for the Midwest League All Star Game. Congrats to him!
  2. Poppen was the starting pitcher June 1st in a 11-1 victory over Quad Cities. Poppen's line: 6.1 IP, 5 hits, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 SO Poppen retired nine straight in the middle innings. The run off of Poppen came in the seventh, and was unearned. He was at 97 pitches.
  3. Poppen pitched on May 27 in a 6-0 victory over Kane County. The teams were (and are, as of June 8) competing for first place in the Western conference of the low A Midwest League. 7 IP, 3 hits, 0 runs, 1 BB, 6 SO Poppen threw 106 pitches in his seven shutout innings.
  4. Poppen was the starting pitcher on May 22 in an extra-inning win versus Clinton. Poppen's line: 5.0 IP, 4 hits, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 5 SO Poppen allowed two runs in the top of the first, the first three batters reached. Poppen then settled in, but his pitch count in the five innings ran up to 95.
  5. I would rather the post-game discussion began: "Kintzler couldn't put away those last batters. Your thoughts." Molitor later admitted as much, so there's that.
  6. Sano is headed to the All Star game and having a legit MVP season. Erv is pitching like an ace. The Twins are still in first place. It would be awful for the front office to continue sitting on their hands and do nothing about this bullpen.
  7. Twins radio propaganda post-game team talking about how shocked they are that Kintzler surrendered a home run, and how terrible the offense was tonight after the 5th inning.
  8. Falvey, currently looking for bullpen help. Falvey's got this. http://i.imgur.com/nb9v261.jpg
  9. no, he has very much been Ron Davis the whole time
  10. I read somewhere on here that Polanco is on leave, so does the new guy take Polanco's place and then reassess when Polanco returns?
  11. If one of the main three outfielders misses time, then I think Granite is called up, Grossman becomes the everyday starter, and Granite slips into the fourth outfield spot nicely. Hard to believe but the Twins outfield is in very, very good shape. The big blemish is that Buxton still hasn't found his hitting groove.
  12. Again, we are not talking about Granite being a starter. If he does ever start some games, maybe he can lay down a mean bunt. only half joking
  13. OK, but what about Granite's skills as a base runner, as compared to Adrianza or Escobar? I think that was the top point of the original post, and not whether Granite can do great things at the plate.
  14. Go back to Armando Galarraga's "perfect game" 7 seasons ago. The umpire clearly blew an obvious call. The next batter was put out, ending the game. It was such a unique play. My question to Tigers fans at the time was: Couldn't the scorer or the league contrive an error for that play (E-3 on Cabrera for poor underhand throw, or something) and at least let the pitcher officially keep a no-hitter? Follow up question. What is the scorer's working relationship with umpires, if any.
  15. I saw that diving play Mauer made last night. Unbelievable.
  16. Agree, you can do all your regular evening stuff, and still have a ballgame going at the end of the night
  17. Also, "two hands with those pop-ups, kids"
  18. Mauer, always taking the first pitch
