  1. No offense but it is pretty clear that Berrios won't be pitching during the next few weeks for the Twins so you'd need someone else in that spot. With that said, while this is certainly outside the box thinking it is probably too far outside for any MLB team to actually implement. Thanks for throwing it out there for discussion.
  2. I think the Yankees are going to fade and not make the playoffs. The Twins just have "it" right now.
  3. Let's not talk about setting up your rotation for the playoffs. First, they have to make them. Second, they get to play a one game playoff. Third, if they survive that they go with what they have. Don't worry about things that you can't control especially since when they get to the final games everyone is on the table for use.
  4. Fire Terry Ryan.
  5. Thanks Seth - good perspective. Let's sit back and enjoy the run and see what happens.
  6. "Throw him in the bullpen!" "Trade him for a barely breathing prospect!" The guy goes out and wins and pitches well. He needs to stay in the rotation.
  7. On July 29th I posted the following - I've added some additional comments. I enjoy reading everyone's comments on this great site and why I don't have much insight I thought I'd have fun and list five things that won't happen even though some people would like to see them take place. 1. Terry Ryan will not be fired. still stand by that 2. Joe Mauer will never catch again.still stand by that and hope people will realize that 3. Joe Mauer will not be traded. ditto 4. Jose Reyes, Cole Hamels, and anyone else making more than $12 million a year will not be traded to the Twins. too easy of a prediction so no bonus points 5. Jose Berrios will not be promoted anytime soon and save the Twins' season. the first part was true but the second part may not be Now, here are five things that just might happen. 1. Miguel Sano will end up with at least ten homeruns. i should have said twenty?? 2. The Twins will trade for two bullpen guys but not give up much at all. stand by that 3. Ron Gardenhire will bat cleanup for my softball team next week. he kicked ass 4. Buxton will return in September and be ready to go in 2016. was off by a few weeks 5. The Royals will regret trading five minor leaguers in the span of two days for temporary help. i may have been wrong but it is too early to tell
  8. I'm going to sound a little nutty but I think the Yankees blow the wild card lead and don't make the playoffs. They have fattened up on the Twins and the Braves recently but are having some troubles. They have a lot of AL East games to finish the year and it could get dicey. Maybe I'm just a dreamer but let's all hope that happens.
  9. I'll say it for the millionth and one time: MAUER IS NEVER GOING TO CATCH AGAIN
  10. I think you are absolutely right on the CLA.
  11. I have a Dodge Caravan. Here's my take on TR and the trade deadline...and I'm probably dead wrong but who cares: He looked around and kicked some tires but didn't see any catchers or shortstops worth giving up quality minor leaguers. If I recall other than Tulo no significant SS's or C's moved at the deadline. He maybe could have went for an upgrade at one of the OF spots but the Twins had guys in those spots and Buxton was going to be coming back. As far as starting pitchers, I'm not sure if there were any other upgrades out there without giving up a ton of youth. If I was the GM, I would have likely done the same and said, "Boys, 2015 is up to you but we will go all out in 2016."
  12. I think it is way too early to throw in the towel on Ervin Santana. History has shown that he will be worth his contract. Here's an interesting link to the salaries of MLB starting pitchers - it's not like Terry Ryan went nuts and started handing out obscene contracts for no reason. http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/rankings/cap-hit/starting-pitcher/
  13. If I was Joe Mauer I'd probably be working my tail off to try to get back to where I was and would be mad as hell that I wasn't performing to my own expectations, let alone the expectations of others. With that said, i would bet a lot of money that he has the same thoughts.
  14. Thank you for posting what I've been thinking - but in a much better way! Go Twins.
  15. 40 games to go which is nearly 25% of the season - at least they aren't throwing in the towel. By the way, they are only 2.5 games back for the final spot. If you had told me in March that on August 22nd this would be the case I would have asked you to hand me some of that weed.
  16. Great forum topic. While there is always reason for a concern and these issues have all been discussed above, it is interesting to note that Santana was 23 last year and Rosario is 23 this year. This makes no difference at all but it is good to see youth playing important roles for the Twins.
  17. I don't "hate" Arcia but I'm just realistic in that he is not getting called up this year and likely won't get traded for anything fantastic until he is consistently good. I hope that he gets back to where he was and gets even better. If he does that, the Twins will face the quandary of where to put him and that is not a bad one to have at all. Hopefully, he will light it up in spring training next year. Until then, I would just say that we need to relax.
  18. Although Oswaldo Arcia looked promising in 2013 and 2014, the fact is that he does not look promising in 2015. Despite this, many people have posted at various times this summer about calling him up. This is not going to happen. He needs to get his act straightened out or get healthy - whichever is the case. Until he does that, I would recommend that we give the Arcia obsession a break. http://www.healthcareatoz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Breathing-In-and-Out-of-a-Paper-Bag.jpg
  19. BEWARE THE GHOSTS OF DANNY SANTANA AND OSWALDO ARCIA!
  20. You can tell because he has snappy nicknames for all of the new guys, like Rosie, Sany, Robbie, and Ervin.
  21. It's Gardy. He moved out of his RV and is living underneath the bench.
  22. A couple of years ago I went to Cedar Rapids after getting some insight from Seth - it was a beautiful ballpark that felt much older than it actually is. My family thoroughly enjoyed it!
  23. It's a good thing we have some depth - it will be an interesting test this weekend for some of the younger guys.
