Time to end the Oswaldo Arcia obsession

Twins Video

Although Oswaldo Arcia looked promising in 2013 and 2014, the fact is that he does not look promising in 2015. Despite this, many people have posted at various times this summer about calling him up. This is not going to happen. He needs to get his act straightened out or get healthy - whichever is the case. Until he does that, I would recommend that we give the Arcia obsession a break. http://www.healthcareatoz.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Breathing-In-and-Out-of-a-Paper-Bag.jpg

Spoken like a true front office employee, Doug :)

I will advocate for Arcia for as long as he's in the organization. He is 100% raw talent and he's going to put it together someday, along the lines of Ortiz and Gomez. I don't want to keep seeing those guys leave the organization and then flourish. I don't care if Arcia "straightens out his act" or not. In fact, I kind of like his energy.

The Arcia obsession is just beginning!

Give him a break, guys. Doug isn't saying that Arcia will never succeed; what he's saying is that now is not his time in the majors, and to be honest, I couldn't agree more. What you see is a left-handed power hitter, but what I see is a batting swing-and-misser who is doing terrible against worse pitching than what the guys up in the majors that Arcia-advocators are complaining about are facing. Arcia has run into some kinks that he needs to work out before being called up again. I'm sure the time will come, but for now it would be fruitless.

Amen!  Some posters "selected" Arcia as "their hero" a couple of years ago--and they are reluctant to admit a mistake.  The passion for Arcia explains why "super hero" movies sell so many tickets.

If Arcia was in another organization, he'd be exactly the kind of guy that all his haters were wishing Terry Ryan would bring in to the Twins organization: a major league ready outfielder and great teammate with boundless energy and tremendous power (which he has ready demonstrated at the MLB level) who is entering his prime years.

I don't "hate" Arcia but I'm just realistic in that he is not getting called up this year and likely won't get traded for anything fantastic until he is consistently good. I hope that he gets back to where he was and gets even better. If he does that, the Twins will face the quandary of where to put him and that is not a bad one to have at all. Hopefully, he will light it up in spring training next year. Until then, I would just say that we need to relax.
