    He is currently one of the top 5 catchers in baseball. I expect a bidding war for him at the deadline. Every contender could use him.

    I would trade Jeffers to the Pirates but I want more than a good reliever / 5th starter in return for an All-Star caliber catcher.

    Ober for Mlodzinski - is that enough? Jeffers would be a great addition to the Pirates if they want to swing a big deal.

    Gallagher could get Bailey Ober’s spot in the rotation. There aren’t many other options.

    Royce Lewis .324/.405/.818 in AAA in May. He makes Sabato (.257/.366/.371) look like a chump over the same stretch of games with the same opponents. Plus, Lewis is on the roster and is a MUCH better fielder. Head-to-head there is no comparison. If you want to promote anyone based on AAA results in May, it is clearly Royce Lewis.

    I would be surprised if we see any extensions with this many unknowns in the CBA.

    What I like about this is they decided to use the good arms they had in AAA to fill the gaps in the bullpen rather than just letting them waste their innings in St. Paul. They made the best roster with what they had. Is it a new bullpen strategy that leads to wins? Not as much as having 8 strong 1-inning relievers.

    I am actually rooting for a fade from .500 sooner so they take initiative to remake this roster. Standing pat because they're just below .500 and in wild-card contention would be the absolute worst outcome.

    Even if they keep Jeffers for the rest of this season, it doesn't matter for next year. He's a free agent. Spending in 2025 won't carry over to 2026.

    Any pitcher good enough to pitch well for 3 innings every 4 days is probably good enough to pitch 5 innings every 5 days in the rotation instead.

    I doubt it. They would have tried to squeeze another inning out of him and he still would have given up all those runs. He was getting crushed.

    They didn’t even really try him as a one inning reliever.

    I am also shocked. SWR got two appearances as a reliever (and pitched 3 scoreless innings).

    If you measure using the 3 weeks after the Twins acquired Yoendrys Gomez, they have a top 5 bullpen.

    Twins are batting .234 in a league batting .240. Buxton, Lee, Larnach, Martin and Jeffers all have above average batting averages. Power is not the Twins problem, their SLG and HR totals are near league average.

    The article I read stated it as CBT threshold, which includes benefits. Maybe the article was wrong.

    The $300/$150 also needs to subtract the same $20M which makes it $280/$130

    It is a very good sign that the owners first proposal had full TV revenue sharing in it. That alone could save the 2027 season. Now the only thing to argue about is how hard/soft the ceiling and floor are and what numbers to put on them. MLB is at $245/$171 and MLBPA is at $300/$150. That is not very far apart at all.

    If the Dodgers include prospects to shed dead salary, the Twins can cut the salaried player and keep the prospects. This happens in other sports with a cap all the time.

    You have to make it so the teams that have the best attendance make the most money. I don’t care if they’re spending or even winning if the fans are attending.
