  1. The problem is having Arcia, Kubel and Parmelee is having 3 of the same baseball player. Kubel is a better hitter right now and Arcia probably is as well. Fuld is supposed to be the LH hitting 4th OF which means they aren't bringing Parmelee up to play defense. The only way to make room for Parmelee is to trade Kubel.
  2. That would be awful. A pitcher (who hits about as well as Chris Herrmann) would have to bat! They'd better call up a couple more pitchers just in case.
  3. Nolasco can't hit his spots. It makes sense that he falls back to fastball when he can't control his breaking pitches.
  4. I don't think service time is as big of a deal as unnecessarily burning an option. The Twins will want to have 3 options left after this season if possible. That means a late callup and September shutdown while in the majors.
  5. Dude. Mike Lynn. Plus, I think the Wolves have the top 4 on the list.
  6. This wouldn't be the first pitcher who came back too soon from TJ surgery and had a dead arm or injured his shoulder overcompensating.
  7. Clearly Polanco is a better prospect but Michael is succeeding at a level that we haven't seen previously. I just think our perception might have been different if Michael had spent 2012 in Elizabethton and 2013 in Cedar Rapids.
  8. I agree. Hicks has had a performance at the low-end of "tolerable" but he usually starts slow and there is reason to expect improvement. Florimon has a negative OPS+. There is also a reasonable replacement for Florimon on the 25 man roster. There isn't a replacement for Hicks who is above A-ball.
  9. Pretty much any journeyman veteran.
  10. I think Meyer comes up when an injury or trade opens up a spot. The Twins have been without starting pitching depth for years. They aren't going to give away pitchers in May. Meyer is very likely to see the big leagues this season. Correia will pitch the second half of the season on a different team. Pelfrey might be worthless and Deduno is fragile. I think Trevor May gets called up in September and it might be to replace Meyer in the rotation when he reaches 150 innings pitched.
  11. Don't look now, but Levi Michael's batting line is almost as good as Jorge Polanco. Would we think differently of Michael if he had gone to Betsy out of college and played well instead of jumping all the way to Ft Myers?
  12. This is the same Kyle Gibson that was awful after he was promoted? Gibson proved the Twins right, not the other way around.
  13. I don't think they want to mess with the 40 man roster because they don't consider these moves to be more than stop-gaps. Arcia is coming back fairly soon and they're hopeful Hicks only needs the 7 days.
  14. "Tanner Vavra (22-64) .344/.391/.438" Is it wrong to say "Good eye, Tanner!"?
  15. Hicks to the concussion DL is likely. Darnell comes up but they aren't sticking with 14 pitchers for more than a game. If Darnell stays then Theilbar is getting optioned down.
  16. If they bring up Bernier it is to sit on the bench. I really dislike the idea of continuing to play a batter who can't hit. I suppose it doesn't matter which one sits on the bench right now.
  17. Need a placeholder? Why not try Escobar full-time and bring up Doug Bernier to be the utility guy? Bernier won't be great but he's seeing the ball well right now.
  18. Those guys are in A-ball and have ETA of 2016 at the earliest. Also, you can never have enough pitching.
  19. Nolasco 5.9IP/start Hughes 5.6 Gibson 5.6 Correia 5.4 Pelfrey 4.9 All Meyer has to do is pitch 5.5 IP / start with better rate production than Correia.
  20. I have the solution - don't start Pelfrey again until July!
  21. Correia is a mediocre pitcher who is being paid market value. There is little marginal value there.
  22. I think Turner and Garver will keep any Suzuki extension short. I'm not sure Suzuki would want an extension when Pinto is breathing down his neck. I don't think he's ready to be a backup yet.
  23. Nolasco was terrible at that last week against the Rays. His ball was moving but he couldn't hit his spots. If Nolasco hits his spots he's pitching as well as last year.
  24. Willingham has always taken a fair share of walks. Arcia hasn't but maybe he'll learn now.
  25. That might be Deolis Guerra's most important contribution to the organization. I'm fine with giving Meyer a few starts in AAA to prove he knows how to control his new changeup.
