  1. I would forget about Stewart being promoted this season unless it is at the very end. He's essentially doing instructional work during games. He's improving his fastball and changeup while building stamina. Good things to work on.
  2. The Pohlads can't just increase the wattage of a radio station. The FCC only allows so many high wattage stations in a geographic area. Those stations cost a lot of money to purchase. They have done some beamforming work to get better coverage areas but I think they're running into urban canyon effects in the city. It is interesting that you can't get the signal south of Target Field. I have no problems receiving 96.3 just north of St. Paul all the way to North Branch. You might have shadowing from tall buildings. Get the antenna up as high as you can and try different ends of the house. If that doesn't work then you'll probably have to pay for MLB at-bat.
  3. Cuts are coming. My guess is they want to give the fringy guys some playing time to see who goes home. Thorpe and Gonsalves are not getting cut. They both might be slated for Betsy instead.
  4. Keep him and go year-to-year. Bullpen pitchers are volatile and he's not a free agent until 2019. He shouldn't get more than $5M a season even in his final year of arbitration.
  5. It was never Presley v. Hicks. It was Presley v. Bartlett and Bartlett is out of baseball.
  6. My original comment was about adding Meyer to the 40 man roster for one game and immediately sending him back down. You don't burn an option to make someone a spot starter in a doubleheader if you can help it. Meyer will be added when he's expected to stay on the roster.
  7. Forgot about Pelfrey. We'll have to wait and see the results. Some other pitcher might be hurt by then.
  8. Pretty simple from my point of view Arcia for Herrmann Willingham for Colabello Fuld for Santana
  9. Risers? I guess, but these guys were all pretty high on the list to start with. How about this list: Mitch Garver Levi Michael Kennys Vargas Aaron Slegers Logan Darnell Alex Wimmers
  10. Hicks' platoon splits as a LH batter are far worse than would be expected from a RH batter facing RH pitchers. That's why people think he should give it up.
  11. Phil Hughes looks like an example in the "Anderson is a good pitching coach" category. At least he's better than the Yankee pitching coach.
  12. The only reason the Twins would offer a contract buying out arbitration is to get a relatively cheap option year when Dozier is 32. That discussion can wait until the offseason.
  13. Hicks just got a week off and no rehab because they were shorthanded. Give him a couple games to knock off the rust.
  14. Thanks for this bit of perspective. The Twins are doing the right thing keeping him in EST. Imagine trying to finish high school while traveling all over the midwest living out of a suitcase.
  15. I think the other half of why they want versatility is the short benches in the major leagues. It's a lot easier to carry 13 pitchers when your three bench players cover 4 positions each.
  16. I'd say Santana has the tools to be a good #9 hitter. He's never going to have a .400 OBP but he could produce just enough with the bat and have some speed. I agree he belongs in AAA and Escobar needs to be the starting SS. Nunez grades out worse at SS than Dozier or Plouffe.
  17. How much of this is having to play every day? He's a platoon DH (with Colabello ideally) being forced into everyday action.
  18. Are you comparing the Twins brain trust to a clown car?
  19. Four shortstops, three catchers and your "outfielders" are Kubel and Colabello even when Mauer returns. Combine that with a pitching staff that doesn't strike anyone out and 8 relievers. Ugh.
  20. That is a terrible plan. Kenny Wilson would make Florimon's bat look good. Pinto is a much better player than Fryer. Calling up Vargas AND Parmelee is adding two players with the same skill set.
  21. I hope the Indiana coach learned a lesson. You don't "punish" a player by forcing them to injure themselves.
  22. I can buy 6 tickets for the family for 6 Twins games for $400. ASG tickets aren't happening. We'll go see Trout when he comes in September instead.
  23. It is hard to frame Nolasco's pitches if he can't hit the mitt.
  24. The problem is having Arcia, Kubel and Parmelee is having 3 of the same baseball player. Kubel is a better hitter right now and Arcia probably is as well. Fuld is supposed to be the LH hitting 4th OF which means they aren't bringing Parmelee up to play defense. The only way to make room for Parmelee is to trade Kubel.
