  1. How about Tyler Fitzgerald? He was a decent starter for the Giants in 2024 and was tearing up AAA before the Dodgers released him. He has adequate range at 2B and adds speed on the bases.
  2. I would rather he pitches for the Twins next to prevent another bullpen game. Even if they hold him to 75 pitches, that’s more than they will get out of the bulk reliever.
  3. I really hope he performs well. If he doesn’t he will eventually get non-tendered. If he performs well he is likely to get traded. He can play third base well enough to start there for a different team.
  4. Fun game to watch. Bullpen was shaky but the wheels stayed on until the end.
  5. It takes time and repetition. He has the athleticism to play second base. This might be the first time he actually has struggled to perform as an athlete. MLB is difficult and unforgiving.
  6. So that level of production is exactly what they hired him for in the first place. If he keeps it up they will find another team willing to take on at least part of the contract.
  7. I am not convinced “Resets at AAA” are useful. AAA is homerrific right now, more likely to encourage bad habits than to correct flaws.
  8. This is a perfect, low-expectations time to break in a rookie. They have 3% odds to make the playoffs.
  9. The problem with keeping Clemens is he’s 30 and likely to be out of the league by 2029. Plus he’s eligible for arbitration starting next year so he is a likely non-tender after 2027. Who wants to pay Clemens $4M in 2028?
  10. He’s hitting .277/.306/.489 over the last two weeks. You usually DFA a player during a cold streak.
  11. He’s not really blocking anyone except Wallner. FWIW, Bell reaches 10 years service time at game 109.
  12. Culpepper and Roden are my picks. Cut Arcia and option Kreidler.
  13. They really have no choice but to keep playing him in the hopes that he heats up and a team is willing to take his backloaded contract at the trade deadline. That $1.25M buyout is a big chunk of what he is still owed.
  14. .280/.407/.540 in May and .391/.481/.696 so far in June. That’s exactly what Culpepper needs to do to force the promotion.
  15. It is true, unless you count the rehabbing Abel and Sands. Matthews, Prielipp, Morris and Paredes were promoted. Marco Raya has an ERA of 6.29. Klein has an ERA of 5.73 and is walking 4 batters per 9 innings. Funderburk has been lousy since his demotion. Festa is injured. The best options are 30-year-old lefty Aaron Rozek or CJ Culpepper, who has pitched 10 games in AAA.
  16. The Twins haven’t really cared about defense at second base since Todd Walker took over for Knoblauch.
  17. Junkballers are most useful when they throw strikes.
  18. Yes. He’s still trying to pull the outside pitch but his plate discipline has improved. It helps to swing at strikes.
  19. You should be very suspicious of stats from St Paul. Offense is very high in AAA. He ended up in Buffalo, where he currently has an ERA over 23. They can fast track Sands and Abel back to the Twins. There is nobody blocking their return.
  20. Breaks Lee was on base before the Bell HR but he got himself picked off. That was a really dumb time to try to steal 2B with one of their slowest runners.
  21. Wichita could use some talent. Maybe they will get Winokur and Marek Houston after the draft.
