  1. The trade probably would have been Polanco for Topa and Bowen if you leave DeSclafani out of it. The Twins essentially bought Gonzalez for $4M because the Mariners needed to clear payroll to fit Polanco's salary in their budget. I am going to guess DeSclafani was the best 5th starter candidate they were offered for Polanco. Nobody is trading a good starting pitcher for an expensive second baseman. I don't think anyone except the Mariners really wanted Polanco.
  2. If it is a short-term move, yes. If someone has a serious injury they'll promote their best pitcher.
  3. I am much more entertained watching Bobby Witt Jr play baseball than I am watching Randy Dobnak. I would love a team full of players as talented and exciting as Witt Jr.
  4. There should be a ton of seniors and super seniors available since this is the last extra COVID eligibility season. That will save money and give teams the opportunity to go overslot on other picks.
  5. 1) Woods-Richardson - he's on the 40 man roster, has the most upside, has already made his debut. They need to find out what they have. 2) Headrick - could flip-flop with Woods-Richardson if the callup is for one game and he's the guy scheduled to make the start. 3) Festa - I don't think they will have much trouble adding him to the 40-man roster if they need to do it 4) Dobnak - Twins Daily needs to quit trying to make Randy Dobnak a thing. The only good thing about Dobnak is they can immediately cut him from the 40 man roster and nobody will claim him on waivers.
  6. Randy Dobnak lives rent free at Twins Daily. He gets way more attention here than he deserves.
  7. After promoting Martin the cupboard is completely bare at AAA for outfielders. You may want to retract that statement.
  8. With Martin up to the Twins I'm counting 7 non-catchers on the roster. Miranda will probably DH if he's having trouble throwing. That means 6 guys for 7 spots in the lineup. I expect Severino will be the 3B with one of the catchers playing 1B.
  9. There are too many relievers on the AAA roster for anyone to get regular innings. I wouldn't pitch Dobnak or Boushley very deep into games.
  10. I hope so. Martin will be competing with Margot for playing time in the outfield.
  11. The expected choice, no surprise. Against RHP I think I'd rather see him play LF with Wallner at DH and Kirilloff at 1B than see Wallner in LF, Kirilloff at DH and Santana at 1B. The defensive upgrade is about the same but I'd rather give playing time to the rookie and see what he can do.
  12. Nobody gets more than 50% time anymore but I agree with this sentiment. Camargo should get half the playing time at C.
  13. Or Larnach to LF and Wallner to DH.
  14. Miranda is "flexible" as in he can't field at any position very well. I agree with "best bat" in theory but I have no idea if that is Martin, Larnach or Miranda. I don't know if any of them are better than playing Santana every day so they would probably not get DH playing time. Martin is redundant with Margot and Farmer. Larnach is not getting playing time ahead of Wallner and Kepler. Whoever comes up is going to be a pure backup which means the positional flexibility of Martin makes sense.
  15. Under good news - both Buxton and Correa looked healthy yesterday.
  16. Didn't Kepler also tweak something which led to his replacement?
  17. Rocco used the whole bench except for the backup catcher. I think you will see a lot of that this season. The depth is already proving important.
  18. The management team who really looks bad here is Boston. Montgomery was reportedly interested in pitching for Boston; his wife is in residency at a hospital there. They could have added a good pitcher for a fair price. Instead, they spent their money on the injured Giolito and getting rid of Chris Sale.
  19. The Diamondbacks will be an exciting team to watch this season. Their fans should be thrilled that they are trying to win it all.
