  1. Actually, the whole staff's been better since Belisle became the closer. (ducks)
  2. Gibson's ERA now under 6. Another three or four starts like last night and he'll cross the pitcher's Mendoza line under 5.
  3. I sympathize, too. But consider: Fulmer has realized more success in his vocation than 98 percent of all people who've ever lived. He'll get over it. He has to.
  4. I was reffing for the first Friday of high school football, so missed the game. Was pleasantly surprised. Maybe a great run is in the Twins future. But I agree with Riverbrian in his setup, that our interest should focus on getting into the play-in game.
  5. Always enjoy your analysis, Mr. Jimbo. It's always fascinating how some pitchers get professional batsmen out, and others fail, and the differences between them.
  6. Watch the body language. Twins players are pumped and alert and on top of every play. The Tigers are playing out the string. Fun to see us as the better team for a change.
  7. Dunno. Those first two examples of crazy fun were quite memorable.
  8. For no discernible reason, earlier today I recalled Johnny Cash's funeral, and how everyone there dressed just like him. That is all.
  9. Just some thots... Fifty years ago today, the Twins led the Senators 7-0 at home after six innings, but gave up seven runs in the 7th and lost in 20 innings, 9-7. Minnesota then lost the AL pennant on the season's last day. So close. But what do I know. I was 11 at the time, living in Flint and rooting for the Tigers and -- gasp! -- the Yankees. I sense good things happening with the Twins yet this season.
  10. Just an aside, but my sense is neither team wins it all. Heck, they may very well not win their leagues. Superior talent, but all their W's have come early and way too easy. Will they respond when they come up against a truly hot team in the postseason?
  11. Got home in time from work to see Belisle's excellent punch-out to Choo's back foot. Love big comeback wins where every inning is a highwire act. A winning streak would be nice right about now.
  12. "...current Houston hitters have combined to hit just .179/.254/.286 (.540 OPS) off Gibson." Kyle Gibson: Rastro killer.
  13. One of my favorite players. I think he'll win some games for the Twins.
  14. Thanks to all for another entertaining and educational game blog. Always gives enjoyment no matter the score.
  15. And on the offensive side, gotta like his stinging two-out gapper and later avoiding injury to the pitcher and himself on his swinging bunt. The guy's a great athlete.
  16. The question is, How will you manage the flight over Kansas?
  17. And Cleveland must be in some real pain by now. "How can this bunch of hasbeens and never-wases beat the best pitcher in the AL?" Not to mention teams with arguably much more talent -- New York, Baltimore, Detroit, Boston, Texas, and even a temporarily surging KC -- doing poorly when they should be running laps around the Twins. But they aren't. Somewhere, somehow a Nuke LaLoosh is lurking and will come to the rescue for that 4th or 5th starter. We may shock the world yet.
  18. Speaking of Heisenberg, he was always hard to keep track of.
  19. Nah. But he is pitching a no-hitter. /jinx on/
  20. Note to Mejia: Don't walk guys hitting .174. That is all.
