  1. I think they have an OK plan for CF. Hicks backed up by Mastro. Hicks will start to hit precisely when he quits switch hitting.
  2. I wouldn't lose any sleep over losing a player as awful as Presley.
  3. I'd give Pelfrey one more start to see if he can pitch 6 innings. If he fails, swap him with Sam. You perform or you lose your job. Im sick of the long leashes Twins players get. Trade Correia ASAP. Would love to see Meyer by June, and Trevor May soon after. The Pelfrey signing is mystifying.
  4. Never been a fan of replay, but I am all in on electeonic balls and strikes. Umpiring has sunk to a new low levels of patheticness.
  5. Oh the value argument. So we trade him for a pitcher and put a stiff in LF. How much sense does that make? Arcia projects as a DH. Hicks may not even pan out, especially if he doesn't quit this switch hitting nonsense.
  6. Duensing in the 8th? Really? Tonkin's here. Use him.
  7. The secret to his success so far? He's busting them inside, pissing batters off. Will be very interesting to see if he shies away when hitters start chirping at him and giving him the evil eye, or if he'll continue busting them in. As long as be stays waist level he has nothing to apoligize for.
  8. I'll say it again, and I'm stunned nothing is ever made of Gardy, in all his over-cautiousness, doesn't get his starting pitchers enough innings in spring training for them to be ready for the season. Did he even have anyone built up to 6 innings in March? The end of spring training he had three starters go 3 innings each in a game. Starters need to be stretched out and build arm strength and endurance in spring training, and Gardy is terrified to do it. Its over-cautiousness gone crazy.
  9. I don't belive he puts in the time. He admitted he didnt pick up a bat the entire offseason, even thougj the concussion symptoms were gone by the end of October. Just looking at him he appears very frail. I don't think there's any weight training going on here. He's not young anymore. He needs to realize he cant rely on natural ability anymore. Skills deteriorate over time. Now he has to start working at it. I chuckle whenever FSN does a profile on him and he's working out. He's always doing cable rows or wrist curls with itty bitty dumbbells. Pretty grueling!
  10. Deduno had a great spring. His struggles are because he's in the bullpen. He's a starter, and deserves to be starting on this team. Its amazing on a staff this bad they have their best starter in a mopup role in the bullpen.
  11. You know how Mauer could impress me? March into Ryan's office and volunteer to play LF and demand they sign Morales to play 1st base.
  12. Zero HR's and zero rbi's through eight games for $23 million could have something to do with it. Or maybe that his arsenal is pretty much limited to opposite field bloops, flares, and bleeders. Or maybe that seemingly his main objective every atbat is to draw a walk and let somebody else worry about driving in runs. Pitchers fear him so much they start him off with a first pitch meatball every atbat that he takes 90% of the time. Verlander said it best last year when he said even if you make a mistake to Mauer the worst he's going to do is single.
  13. Not a fan of Burton at all. He's not dependable. Especially in an 8th inning role. Fien had a lousy 2nd half of 2013 and IMO hasn't looked good this year. Would really like to see Tonkin take Burtons role.....soon.
  14. All the more amazing when you consider his struggles last year. He had that odd stance where he had virtually no chance of hitting a pitch on the outside corner.
  15. If they really want to keep Bartlett that bad, how about demote Florimon and make Bartlett SS until the next guy is ready. I'm completely Florimon'd out.
  16. Herrmann is a below average outfielder. I have vivid memories of horrendous botch jobs last year. Cola's no gem either, but this team needs offense. Don't let the first six games fool you. Herrmann provides no offense. To me he's nothing more than outfield insurance and allowing Pinto to DH.
  17. To me the most sense is colabello RF, kubel LF, Pinto DH.
  18. I think not picking up a bat the entire offseason, and not doing much of anything to stay in shape october-february has more to do with his struggles than lingering concussion issues. He even admitted before ST he hadnt picked up a bat all offseason. Eventually I hope he learns he has to work at it and not rely soley on his amazing talent.
  19. If Escobar has any trade value I'd like to see what they can get for him. Herrmann has to be on this team.
  20. They'd certainly make it more boisterous than it is now.
  21. I just think its ridiculous starting the season March 31. The season should never start before April 10. Play more doubleheaders.
  22. Gardy inherited a fundamentally sound team from TK. Since that group slowly faded away, Gardenhire's done a pitiful job of teaching fundamentals. Its ironic how TK's teams were super fundamentally sound, yet he never said a word. Gardy's teams are bad to mediocre at fundamentals, yet he's always tooted his own horn about "playing the game the right way" and so on. He's a very overrated manager in my book.
  23. I don't think I believe in ghosts. I'm pretty much of the belief that when you die your soul leaves this earth. Any paranornal stuff I consider demonic, IMHO. Scares the living **** out of me.
  24. Nolasco reminded me of Liam Hendriks.
  25. Its an indictment on Gardenhire wasting Pinto's bat on the bench to guard against the highly improbable scenerio of Suzuki getting hurt. Herrmann should have made the team over any of these three; kubel, bartlett, escobar.
