  1. Puckett's personal life has nothing to do with this topic, and I doubt there's even proof of alot of his extramarital accusations. Denigrating Puckett in this manner to prop up Mauer really comes across as wrong to me. He was a good man.
  2. Keeping Bartlett doesn't bother me. Heck, he'll probably be the starting SS by mid-April. The one that really makes me mad is Kubel. He's been terrible since midseason 2012. When he swings he misses the ball by a foot. Atleast Bartlett is on the ball. He's made some decent contact and takes good atbats. There's hope. Kubel is lost. A disaster. I believe they're erroring badly not keeping Herrmann and sliding Pinto to DH. Mackey actually got one right.
  3. Herr probably had the higher OPS, but Brunanaky had a miserable start to the season. I cried when they traded Bruno. I was a heart broken 8th grader.
  4. I just think the Pohlad family is far more villainous than Calvin Griffith. The ballclub was Calvin's only income. He HAD to pinch pennies. But as I was saying, the MacPhail era was the glory years of this franchise.
  5. Are you the Jerr who used to post at KFAN rube chat? I don't post there anymore, but I remember wondering what happened to you.

  6. Say what you want about Griffith, but 87&91 were Griffith's players.
  7. Exactly what I was going to say. Losing MacPhail hurt bad. They've never recovered. In the 20 years since he left, its been 75% futility and 25% mediocrity.
  8. There isnt actually anyone upset they lost Presley, is there? I'm actually pretty happy with how they filled out the roster. My biggest beef is Kubel making the team. Would rather have Herrmann instead so Pinto can DH. Kubel will be released by June. Probably earlier.
  9. Well, its nice Diamond can now see what the other 29 teams think of him.
  10. I agree. I didnt see what made his statement so great. Put one good full season together then maybe he's earned the right to shoot his mouth off.
  11. I've heard there's no law that forces teams to make their financial records public.
  12. Well props to the Twins for doing the right thing. Still think its insane keeping duensing when Diamond would have been just as good for a fraction of the price. I have a feeling Burton's going to be awful, so hopefully Tonkin will be taking his place soon.
  13. Tonkin couldnt do any more to make the team, yet down he goes. And three of six relievers are lefty's? I could justify Diamond making the team if they traded duensing, but both of them? Does ANYONE feel comfortable with the Fien/Burton circus we're about to witness? And only three rhp's?
  14. The confusing thing is if defense is the reason Pinto isnt the starting catcher, how is he supposed to improve his defense sitting on the bench? I could justify him making the team if he was the everyday DH, but as backup catcher? Twins fans should feel very betrayed that a terrible player like Kubel is not only stealing money, but stealing playing time from our young players.
  15. Neither Kubel OR Parmelee should make the team. My bench is Herrmann, Cowbell, Presley, Escobar, and Bartlett.
  16. So you're saying Gardy is worried pinto will wear down DH'ing five games a week and catching two? I don't think swinging the bat and running the bases is especially grueling.
  17. This fear of losing his DH obsession makes my brain go numb. Its so illogical. On a team this offensively inept, how can ANYONE rationalize not having his bat in the lineup everyday? Everyone seems to over-analyze this to death, when it should be so simple. He's probably the second best hitter on this team. Watching him at the plate its obvious he's up there with a plan. He's not wildly flailing like Arcia. He should do an 80/20 DH to catching ratio until he proves he's not ready to hit at this level. But the thought of sending him to Rochester so he can play everyday is absurd because he could easily play everyday here and help them win games.
  18. I'm afraid if Santana was going to amount to anything, it would have happened by now. Escobar 2 with a slightly better stick.
  19. Once the Metrodome is completely torn down, I firmly believe the curse will be lifted.
  20. Well he's the LF'er whether we sign morales or not.
  21. Morales at DH makes so much sense. As much as people hate Willingham in LF, it makes sense to leave him there for one more year, if for no other reason than to increase his trade value.
  22. Nope, I'm not losing my mind. I just googled "Rob Antony negotiatated Kubel's $8 million contract", and that's the headline that came up. It was Phil Miller's article from a couple days ago. He's since corrected it, but the google headline still shows $8 million.
  23. Brock , I'm sure you're right on Kubel, but I could swear I read just recently in the Strib that Antony negotiated Kubel's $8 million contract. But who knows, I could have been having a mental lapse.
  24. OK, fine. But at this point how can they look us in the eye and go into the season with this lineup? Its insulting. I could be wrong, but is kubel really guaranteed $8 million if he makes the team? Thats insulting. Going into the season with the current SS situation is insulting. They have the money. And a bad team in an arctic climate is gonna have to overpay, but dont they owe it to their loyal fans? Now Sano is out. Gardy is already bad mouthing Hicks. He aint making the team. They have to do something to improve this offense.
