  1. As historically bad as this offense again will be, I still gotta go with Garza. Drew a close second. Dozier struggled at SS and took it to the plate with him. He played gold glove quality 2nd base and had a nice offensive year. No way I move him back.
  2. To the crowd who says "dont spend money, develop the young players". Who you gonna develop at SS? Santana is old. If he was gonna turn into something, he'd have shown signs by now. Polanco is two years away. Drew makes so much sense.
  3. I dont know why its so hard for so many people to understand. With the new ballpark and the new TV contract, the Twins are raking in money hand over fist. They can spend it, even if they have to overpay, or they can put it in their pockets. And no, this money isn't put in an account to be used when the team is competitive again. It's gone forever so Mr. Pohlad can take it with him when he dies.
  4. Who cares? The money is there. They can spend it, or they can put it in their pockets. Do something. Throw us some crumbs. Give the fans something to get excited about. They owe us that for filling that ballpark for four years. I dont care if they overpay. I dont care if it only nets one more win. The money is there. They are under the 50-52%. Sign Drew. He's not a savior, but he's an upgrade.
  5. Spot on hit the nail right on the head. They hide behind "we're not gonna spend just to spend", then conveniently put it in their pockets. Guess what? This is minnesota. You have to overpay to attract free agents. And as I stated, they aren't anywhere near their 50-52%. Its all profit, baby.
  6. Would be a dream of an experience. To talk to Viola about game 7, 1987. To ask Hatcher about his world series HR in 1988. Maybe someday it'll happen for me!
  7. Just say no to Duensing. That ship has sailed. I'd love to see Swarzak get a shot. If he can beat out Deduno, I'd be fine with them switching roles.
  8. For all Ryan's bold talk, if the offseason ended today I'd consider it a disappointment. They've signed some pitchers, but the payroll hasn't gone up. As the payroll stands now, it will be well below their 50-52%. This offense as it stands now will still challenge all-time futility records. Its that bad. They have ONE proven hitter. ONE. Two if you count Willy, but he was brutal last year. Why not sign a professonal hitter? Why not go all in on Morales? Who on earth cares about the draft pick? Apathy has set in for so many Twins fans. Nolasco, Hughes, and Pelfrey aren't enough to cure it. For goodness sake, throw us some crumbs. Do something. Overpay if you must. The money is there. They can spend it, or they can pocket it.
  9. August 2014: LF Rosario CF buxton RF Hicks DH Arcia
  10. I dont like the idea of the whole league held hostage waiting for the tanaka thing to work itself out.
  11. Maybe I completely overlooked it, but where's the Morris thread? It was a good lively debate.

  12. I think the 80's was a great era of baseball. For one thing, it was pre-steroids. Atleast the game was pure. I gotta get back to work. Signing off. Peace.
  13. Alright. Im not even going to click on it, I'll take your word for it. I'll admit when I'm wrong. I'd still put him in the Hall though.
  14. Prime example of why I cant relate to today's fans. I'm from a very different era of baseball. An era when the game was, for lack of a better word, better.
  15. You want a good reason for the inflated era? He pitched deep into games. He wouldnt give up the ball. If he had an 8-2 lead after six innings, he didnt come out. He'd finish the game even if he gave up some meaningless runs. Also, to save the bullpen, he stayed in games he was losing. He ate up innings at the expense of his era. Its almost bothersome to me this is a thing of the past. A game with Correia comes to mind. He got roughed up early in a game at KC and Gardy yanks him after two innings. Leave him in for 6 innings. Who cares if he gives up 8 runs. Save the bullpen.
  16. What on earth is wrong with discussing the past?
  17. If thats not an indictment on WAR, I dont know what is. And I say this respectfully, because I get vibes that saying anything bad about WAR is practically a ban-able offense.
  18. Thats your opinion and I respect it, but there is so much more than numbers involved here. Anyone from his era who watched him pitch knows he's a hall of famer. So many people today whose only connection to Morris is video of him striking out Ron Gant and crunching numbers on their laptop. Numbers dont do him justice, and when you add in his postseason resume, it just floors me he cant get in.
  19. I'd love Hicks leading off, he just didnt seem to handle that pressure well last year.
  20. Another thing to worry about.....Sano's elbow. I keep on reading things from time to time that make me nervous.
  21. Platooning is only role Plouffe should have. He should never face RH pitching.
  22. I know alot of people hate Willy in the OF, but if they're gonna get anything in a trade for him, he has to stay in the OF. I'm hoping Bartlett wins the SS job, and I'm REALLY hoping Hicks wins CF keeping Presley a 4th outfielder.
  23. SP: Garza (Keeping the dream alive) 1. 2B Dozier 2. 1B Mauer 3. 3B Sano 4. RF Arcia 5. LF Willingham 6. DH Kubel/Plouffe platoon 7. CF Hicks 8. SS Bartlett 9. C Pinto
  24. I have never understood why so many people are concerned about saving Pohlad's money. As if 3/$30m to drew would hamstring the franchise. For goodness sake, even with their signings, payroll has barely gone up, and with this new massive mlb revenue deal, the money is flowing in. They SHOULD be overpaying right now BECAUSE THEY CAN!
  25. Doesn't a 4th year option based on innings pitch make perfect sense? 3/$51m with a $17m year 4 option if he pitches, say, 540 innings the previous three years?
