  1. I can't believe the players union agreed to this draft pick compensation garbage. Its a ridiculous concept.
  2. 2015: 1. CF Buxton 2. LF Rosario 3. 1B Mauer 4. 3B Sano 5. DH Arcia 6. RF Hicks 7. 2B Dozier 8. C Pinto 9. SS I have no idea.
  3. 3/$45 + $15 4th year if he pitches 180 innings in 3rd year.
  4. Drew would be a solid signing.
  5. Johan. You're probably right. MLBTR probably picked it up from Cafardo.
  6. Per MLB trade rumors. Sounds like Twins are a strong possibility. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/cafardo-on-1.html
  7. The teachers union doesn't care about the kids. If they did, they'd be making sure the good teachers got rewarded. Instead the good teachers get laid off and the lazy ones keep their job. And obviously I'm saying this in general. There are some good tenured teachers, but far more bad ones than there should be.
  8. I'd love to explain myself further, but I honestly don't know what's acceptable to say here and what will get me banned. And other than the oversensitivity, I think this is a great site and I don't want to get banned.
  9. I've always viewed teachers as a dime a dozen.
  10. Excellent excellent take. The way Gibson pitched last year he SHOULD start 2014 in AAA, regardless how good he is this spring. If healthy, Deduno has wicked stuff and should be the 5th starter. As far as Correia goes, I keep him until July and trade him ONLY if they get an offer they cant refuse. Trading Correia and filling the 4-5 spots with retreads who are out of options would be stupidity.
  11. People are making this far more complicated than it needs to be. 1. Unless Gibson has an amazing spring, he should start the season in AAA. 2. Trade Correia for the right offer. If the right offer doesn't come until July, so be it. 3. Release Diamond. 4. Unless Deduno's shoulder is ruined, he deserves the last spot in the rotation. 5. The fact that Worley is out of options should have no bearing on him making the team. If he's not one of the best 12, try sending him down, and if he's claimed, so be it. In a matter of minutes I just solved the problem.
  12. This guy could be a bust of Hideki Irabu proportions. Garza for half the price makes far more sense.
  13. Coming back from TJ in 10 months is dang impressive. So many pitcher's rehabs are littered with setbacks and "shutting it down" when things dont feel quite right. Ask the Cubs about their dealings with a certain former Twins pitcher. Pelfrey's got guts. That counts for something in my book.
  14. More than 12 would be disappointing. Get these starters good and stretched out by April 1st and leave them in to battle for extra outs in the late innings. Making starters grind it out late builds their endurance, and their confidence, even if the results aren't always favorable. And of course, it saves the bullpen and allows you an extra bat on the bench.
  15. I'd rather sign Garza and develop our position players. When Meyer, May, Gibson, etc. are ready to contribute and the rotation becomes crowded, trade pitchers to fill positions of need. 2015: 1. CF Buxton 2. LF Rosario 3. 1B Mauer 4. 3B Sano 5. DH Arcia 6. 2B Dozier 7. RF Hicks 8. C Pinto 9. SS million dollar question Moving Dozier to SS would be foolish. He is a gold glove caliber 2nd baseman. Don't mess wirh that.
  16. If both Deduno and Worley have a good spring, I would look to deal Correia. He might have some value. Gibson can go to AAA, and we can only hope Diamond gets claimed.
  17. Being in shape cant hurt, but I dont hold it against him. I hope he wins the 5th starter job. I always liked the legendary Rick Reuschel. Dude could deal.
  18. The real question is does he still have that tire wrapped around his waste?
  19. Knoblauch never played with Gaetti.
  20. Well if sano makes the team, plouffe and kubel should platoon.
  21. Baker career: Far more talented than Pelfrey, but a head case.
  22. I dont blame the Twins FO one bit for thinking it was all in Baker's head. There always seemed to be something ailing Baker's arm, and the organization had grown tired of it. Baker may have better stuff than Pelfrey, but I'll take Pelfrey any day over Baker. He's durable. He's a gamer. He's not whiny and wimpy. And it seemed any time Baker got his pitch count in the 90's, his whole body language changed. Afterall, once you get close to 100, you're supposed to be tired, right? Classic new age "6 innings and I've done my job" pitcher.
  23. They're just signing Suzuki to lure Tanaka!
  24. I remember being embarrassed for the state of Minnesota whenever there was a nationally televised game.
