  1. Poor guy, what a cold and heartless thing to say about a human being... That said, he serves up BP in games, he can't figure this stuff out in games.
  2. Trade? Who would take him? DFA or release? Sure. He's toast.
  3. Florimon's dWar was 2.1 in 2013, that's not going to change much this year. His defense and the impact of being involved in many more defensive plays as a SS more than his 4-5 plate appearances per game, defense will be a much larger impact on the outcome of more games over the course of the season. However, this Twins team can't afford 3 wasted spots in the lineup over the whole season. Suzuki has hit well, but won't keep it up over the whole season. So far Hick's stats look eerily similar to 2013, but he started slow last year (much slower than this year) maybe he'll get stronger over the season. my point is Florimon is less the problem, than the combination of his, Hicks, and Sukuki's bats. Hicks may be self correcting, Suzuki should be a smaller part of the lineup as the season goes on, so the problem should be solved over time.
  4. Last year, there wasn't a choice on the long leashes in the rotation. You take your lumps when you have zero MLB caliber pitching. After watching the horrid pitching last year, I have no problem holding on to the three best pitchers from last years rotation, even if they are less than ideal. The Pelfrey signing made perfect sense, he was the best second half pitcher on the team. Granted, terrible rotation, but the devil you know is better than the devil you don't. The last thing TR wanted to do, was roll into ST with no depth again. So far Correia had been less than stellar, but effective. I have no problem with Pelf or Correia yet. I agree that I would like to see Meyer and May in the rotation, possibly this season, when they are ready. Correia and Pelfrey are relatively cheap and effective insurance that gives the team the luxury of allowing Meyer and May to mature before coming up.
  5. Compared with 3 at the break of ST last year, I'd say the Twins are looking better at pitching this year... Does it make you wonder how the starting rotation conversation went last Spring Training? Gardy: well we went out and got the Vanimal and Corrieasy, they should be pretty good, we still have Diamondsy, he should be pretty good. I'm hopeful Pelf can come back from Tommy John. Who else do you have in the rotation for me Terry? TR: Well we have these 5 guys that are AAA filler, take your pick. Gardy: I guess since Deduno manages to miss a steel barn with magenetic baseballs, we'll roll with DeVriesy and Hendricksy, who throw watermelons down the middle of the strike zone. I don't want that Deduno kid unless I'm desperate. Besides, what could go wrong?
  6. Bremer: I drove through Little Falls, it's a great town in the middle of ... Umm... Minnesota
  7. What a shame... Couldn't knock Hicks home
  8. How did he hit that pitch, the way he did, as hard as he did? Wow!
  9. Thanks Thrylos, I'm curious about him as well, and hope he can prove the detractors wrong.
  10. I would like to see Plouffe's fielding improve some... But if his hitting is sustained for the better part of the season with no prolonged droughts, I would agree with you, he is part of the rebuild.
  11. The Twins started the season with 1) a starting rotation that still pitches to contact 2) a light hitting good defensive catcher, backed up by just the opposite 3) a new to the position first basemen 4) a good defensive and offensive 2nd basemen 5) a mediocre fielding, good hitting 3rd basemen 6) black hole hitting, Hoover fielding SS 7) a terrible fielding, power hitting left fielder 8) a big question mark in CF 9) an unproven potentially very good hitting, bad fielding right fielder 10) a plethora of DH talent there has to be more than one player behind the pitchers mound who can field their position cleanly with minimal errors. Hitting has not been an issue so far, but the Twins have been winning games 10 to 8. I'm not ready to pull the plug on Florimon yet. I would be ok with Florimon for the rest of the season if the following items occurred, reducing or eliminating the other lineup black holes. 1) Hicks proves his potential to be a .250 hitting, excellent fielding CF. 2) Pinto earns the lions share of catching duties. 2 I think is pretty much a lock 1 I'm not sure of, 50/50 it would be icing on the cake if Florimon learned to bunt and steal bases effectively with some frequency.
  12. I loved Jamie Hersch correcting the spelling on the Circle Me "Burt" sign on the mn lottery segment... High quality tv
  13. 7 innings, three runs for Corriea. Not bad at all.
  14. Gibson, Nolasco, now Corriea have each put in good starts. This is encouraging. I'd like to see Corriea get out of this jam... Damn Plouffe just threw it into the outfield...
  15. Mauer finally hit like the first baseman we all wanted! Keep it up!
  16. Well said. A good reminder why I keep showing up... Thanks
  17. You make a very good point. Does Kurt "call fastball/the manager loves me" Suzuki bode poorly for this? My worry, to your notion, is Pinto learns too much from Suzuki as far as specific pitch calls goes.
  18. I wish the Twins had a lead off hitter... Put this lineup down one(cutting Florimon off) and I wouldn't worry so much that the run production this season is short-lived
  19. At least Sano's elbow hasn't fallen off, nor Buxton's hand... JK I have been suspect of the medical staff and the PR that goes with it since "bilateral leg weakness gate". Back to Dre's point... I think he's right, this will be a lower attendance season until this team puts something out there worth paying the price of admission for. The food and drink isn't that great...All we've heard is Sano this, Buxton that, those two are on the shelf for a big chunk or all of this season. That means the Twins need to find a new mechanism for 2014 and 2015 optimism.
  20. I think this says it all http://www.twinkietown.com/2014/4/11/5601440/mauer-continues-silence-on-cattle-mutilations man Randball Stu is funny!
