  1. cuz everybody's got something to hide
  2. don't be so naive, "a feather in his hat"? It's obviously a double entendre. You've never wondered why it's called canoodling? It sure doesn't happen while fishing...
  3. it's the same number of clouds, it's the density of the clouds that is the difference
  4. Because Dwight Schrute wasn't the first human being, therefore not alive to annihilate the monkeys
  5. hose meal Mauer? Nah, he was probably written out of the lineup and upset about it
  6. Swarzack, ick! Jim Crickett wrote that the coaching staff needs to change or the Twins are dead, they need to improve the rotation and fielding or they're dead too. Good to see Santana starting at SS though
  7. I'm not as worried about hitting and scoring runs as I am with fielding and pitching. Yes this team gas scored a ton of runs based on timing and luck, but those things have circulated through the players so much that I'm less worried that it's isolated, including a Dozier.
  8. that's just it, when Plouffe leads your team with a .749 OPS as a 3b, where the heck are your corner outfielders, DH and 1b. For as bad as the outfield fielding as been, there is where your ops leader should come from, not your 3b or 2b
  9. Well said. Does the expletive rhyme with bucket?
  10. I mostly agree with RB but for one minor tweak. 2. Pitching should be 1. I wasn't one ace type front line starter, if he's not that guy that the other teams says "not that guy" about I'm not interested. They already have a bunch of ok pitchers, they don't need another Nolasco type. 3. Defense should be 1b. Hughes went 7 innings with 11 strikeouts on Saturday, still gave up 5 runs(only 3 earned) against a team that went 7 for 31 on the game. 5. Fundamentals should be 2(or 3 depending on his you count 1/1b) and is very much in line with defense. I agree with his take on Mauer 100%. I would go so far as to say the Twins organization and Mauer's career are on different trajectories. When he's healthy he will be a good hitter, but the health part will continue to be a question. Mauer is not and has not ever been in his career a player coach, but that's the direction this team is headed with the requirements of its veterans. On the other hand it appears Kurt Suzuki does kind of fit that mold. He's supposedly the vocal coachy leadery type.
  11. I would add a surgeon to the staff. This team needs someone to remove players' heads from inside their backside, and place it in their shoulders again. Obviously it's tough to run bases or field a baseball with your head up your backside, I think this might help.
  12. 1) interesting on Pinto, but that's as far as it goes... 2) Santana still looks very out of place in CF, he's just fast enough to make catches, maybe with enough reps he could change that, but I doubt that day will ever come 3) I'm unsure of the logjam, let the prospects earn their place
  13. 1) the twins have the third worst record in the MLB 2) the Twins have scored the 6th most runs in MLB What did we just learn from 2 simple rank stats? That the Twins are behind the rest of the MLB in both pitching and fielding. It requires comprehensive quality in pitching, fielding, and hitting to win championships. I think all aspects of the game can be improved to a point, with practice. But all require an amount of talent to excel. Arcia can be lived with (if he practices and improves) given his fielding talent limitations, if and only if, left field and center field are played by quality fielding players. Buxton may be a step up from current in the fielding department, but he is only a prospect. Let us not forget that he was injured by a fielding mistake to end his season. That's not just snake-bitten dumb luck. That was a lack of execution that caused his injury, totally avoidable, and at least part Buxton's fault.
  14. I'm in general not a fan of fighting in sports. I prefer the collegiate and Olympic hockey games to NHL for the very reason that I think hockey is a better sport without the fighting. I think Doug M. deserved to get punished for a single act of stupidity, and he did. I also like his fire and accept that it may lead to the occasional outburst. It is fine, as long as he learned to keep his temper in check as to not let it go so far as fighting again. All that being said, I would buy tickets to Terry Ryan vs. Billy Beane in a 10 round bout. Nothing below the belt! Ding! Ding! Let's get ready to rumble!
  15. Scoscia trotted out 19 relievers when 1 game he didn't have a starter and used relievers in 1-2 inning stretches the whole game. He planned on 7 pitchers for that game on purpose.
  16. but the "Twins" are the Twin Cities
  17. Linus, Dougie Baseball has been Dougie Baseball since the 90s. It's what makes him a good fit in my mind. His zeal for the game and attention to detail has been well regaled of his playing time during a very low point in Twins history. I know very little of his managerial experience, but I like what I do know, I like very much
  18. Happy to be proved wrong on Burton today
  19. Pop quiz: who is older? Atchison or Chief?
  20. huh... I just looked it up...
