  1. I'm terrified too Garver is a fine backup, maybe he can become a good starter, but he's not there yet. Rolling with Castro and Garver as the primary plan for 2019, creates a high likelihood of repeating 2018 with AAAA emergency catcher as your primary catcher again. Knee injuries to catchers can be catastrophic. Garver has options. Gotta plan on Castro being the backup next year and have Garver be your AAA backup plan. As for 2018, I'd like to see Garver take the lions share of catching duties from here on out. Lets see what we got.
  2. Changing tune yet after the Jays series?
  3. Sano, Buxton, Gordon, Gonsalves, and Wade are all at Rochester right now. There’s depth in Rochester. It may be that Falvine treat the triple A stop on the development train differently than Ryan did. It seems for the current FO, double A is last stop on the prospect leg, and triple A is for major leaguers and quad A types. My theory is Gordon spent a long time at double a until he showed the polish or sign of big league readiness, then went to Rochester as his stop to play until a Dozier trade is completed to make room for him in the bigs.

  5. Alright Eduardo and BD, keep building that trade value.
  6. Pretty much https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/07/orioles-trade-zach-britton-yankees-dillon-tate.html I’m with you, I’d want a lot more
  7. Pohlads also have a reputation for being extraordinarily cheap. During the previous offseason JP told the candidates for VP Ops that they had to keep Molitor. Last offseason the Pohlads spent 135 mil, which is median-ish for payroll. Way more than ever spent previously. Point is, things change, and maybe this isn’t as much of a change as Terry Ryan would have led us to believe. I like Tom’s creativity. It’s true that we really have no idea how any of the inner workings tick.
  8. Derek Falvey and Thad Levine owe Jim Pohlad an explanation, and I’m sure there has been several discussions to that effect. Safety recalls happen all the time in consumer products. People in the US die every day from consuming e. Coli tainted foods, do we ever see the manufacturer explain or apologize? No. If anything comes of it, it’s as a result of the governmental investigation. People died! Where’s the public confession? We’re not anywhere close... it’s a crappy product. Crappy products are marketed to US consumers all day every day. It’s a part of life. I don’t see the confessional precedence being set on a bar this low. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it, EXCEPT... the Minnesota Twins belong to a legal monopolized cartel. They can set prices and wage rates as a group. We all remember contraction, it can happen again. So if you don’t like it, don’t buy it, but you have to accept the consequences. Personally, I think actions speak louder than words. I’m curious and hopeful that actions will indeed renew my faith. I lived through longer and darker stretches with this team. It’s only baseball.
  9. the current trend in MLB is greater specialization with pitchers. Until Rosters expand from 25, that specialization of pitching requires decreased specialization of the bench, especially in the AL. When Mitch Garver is a top 6 hitter on your team, it would be great to use that bat in a pinch and still have a catcher for an emergency. Gardy and his dang 3 catchers killed the utility of his bench. A guy like Astudillo could have fit that need really well. Alternatively Astudillo has tantalizing contact skills. The same kind of skills that made Rosario such a tantalizing prospect. He’s no slouch and the offense sucks, get your hits where you can, and C has been a black hole with Wilson.
  10. I’m more frustrated by not getting his bat in the lineup. Those contact skills are killer! There’s nothing wrong with having a super-ute who can catch a game on a doubleheader or once a month just to spell your start/backup combo.
  11. Gibson being traded?
  12. with the trade deadline looming, the wet spot might get worse
  13. thanks for sharing, I hadn’t seen any timelines, only innings played in triple a, So why was he listed at C on the roster?
  14. Astudillo never caught an inning...
  15. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/twins-logan-morrison-confirmed-for-activation/ Who’s this Astudillo guy? He played great for a handful of games and then inexplicably benched, and now sent down instead of Taylor Motter who can’t hit at all...
  16. I agree, doubt Santana’s option gets picked up. I’m assuming in ST ‘19 May and Pineda are “competing” for the same spot in the rotation. If both are healthy, one goes to the bullpen. I think Romero will lock up one of the rotation spots.
  17. If the Padres spent actual big league resources to pick up a near big league ready catcher, I wouldn’t give up too much to acquire the guy they want to divest of.
  18. I’m with you. GTs have been much less fun this year
  19. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/twins-jeremy-hazelbaker-dealt-to-minnesota/ Color me puzzled
  20. https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/phillies/trades-pennant-race-and-maybe-big-award-await-gabe-kapler-phillies-2nd-half-mlb-trade-deadline Sounds like there’s some interest from the Phillies in Escobar as a second choice to Machado
  21. If your lower half is in the 40s, how old is your upper half? Also, how does one go about living in Antarctica for 3 months? I feel like this needs to be explored further...
  22. I liked this only because I found your wording funny. Not because I like that Cleveland traded for Hand.
  23. you’re a 5 win player until you’re not. The risk/reward of free agency... Earlier this season, there was a new low to the depths of streakiness Dozier had embodied. He’s turning it around now, so there’s some gas left in the tank. His recent performance most likely shortened his next contract, but the annual average is still prolly going to be in the 10-12 mil range, just as if it would have been if 2018 mirrored 2017. Only 2-3 years instead of 4-5...
  24. this is way oversimplified. There’s no way to know what his motivation is.
