  1. Exciting stuff on both fronts. Fingers crossed for health...
  2. Fantastic work. Great indicator of value in risk/reward, especially the tiered data sets.
  3. but he is consistent. He's consistently inconsistent. That's why he's a bad groundball pitcher. He has no idea where the ball is going. I would love it if he became the second coming of Brad Radke, but he's not Brad Radke. Do I want him to fail? No. Do I think he's going to be a viable starting pitcher? No.
  4. If May and Meyer are coming up, you need Darnell for insurance, unless you want Scott Diamond on the major league roster again.
  5. His xFIP in May is quite similar to his career. Tough April, but to be expected considering the changes he faced. He is who the Twins signed. That's how free agency works. He isn't going to be better this far in his career than his average over the whole 4 year contract.
  6. I agree with Stringer. His fielding is not good enough. High OBP predicated on the walk, with .198 BA says his BA should come up to Mendoza and his OBP should come down quite a bit. Why not challenge a .198 hitter? NL rule: Never ever walk the pitcher.
  7. I know they won't end at .500 but it's a heck of a lot better than watching the last few seasons
  8. The All-Star for the Twins should be Hughes or Dozier, but I think it will be Perkins. i was optimistic about the signing, and am further heartened by the start. I hope he can continue his duchess as the data suggests he could. Being in a larger park really did help his performance. Imagine what a real major league outfielding defense could do. Not a high bar, but he has been the Twins' best pitcher this season. Even with the rotation shaping up over the last 3 weeks or so, he has continued to be their best pitcher.
  9. I'm curious to see the counts on the heat map. My guess is the majority of the red blob down the heart of the plate comes at 0-0 and 3-0 figuring that he isn't going to swing, so make sure to get a strike. Good stuff Eric, thanks
  10. With Buxton's aggravation of his wrist injury, is there a new return to actin time table?
  11. He's hitting way better than Hicks, and he's been almost as good if not as good as Hicks in CF. That's more of an indictment of Hicks, but Santana has earned it too. As RiverBrian said, if you're making a super utility guy, commit. When Full/Arcia come back, send Hicks to AAA to learn to be a 4th outfielder without the pressure or pitching of the bigs.
  12. It depends... If you're still under rookie contract, you're Dallas Kuechel you stand to make $500,000 per year. If you're a free agent, you're Ricky Nolasco you stand to make $12,000,000 per year. Both had xFIP in 2013 of 3.58 Theres a reason why GMs prefer to build from within, and players choose free agency.
  13. this is what I really like about Jack, he has a wealth of knowledge and explains it well, just really dry
  14. like pop up video? It's a great concept. I'd like to see some more situational stats on the live broadcast screen as well.
  15. I have been back and forth on Bartlett [Et Al] throughout the offseason, and I might be one of the quotes. Signing one of Bartlett, Kubel, Guerrier, in isolation isn't the end of the world, but when it's 3 and you owe all three of them roster spots, that's a lot of risk. Pressly and Mastro are both sorely missed, and Raley was certainly more a part of the future than Guerrier. This team is doubly worse because of Bartlett and Guerrier's presence and the players lost associated as such. if Pressly and Mastro are so easily replaceable, why is Hicks futilely hacking away and losing fly balls with the big league club?
  16. Not a big fan of Nunez in LF
  17. Encouraging to his output this season, a week ago his BA was .205. Well written and I too am excited about Mr. Pinto.
  18. I'm with iTwins. Build on your strengths, not rob Peter to pay Paul. Dozier has been a treat to watch.
  19. Good stuff jorgenwest. I'm very excited for Meyer and May
  20. Agreed, great post stringer. He's a second basemen, and a dang good one. I know SS has been a dearth, but Dozier is a strength at 2b at a position that had been every bit the black hole that SS has been for Twins. Also so agreed, the Twins do need more "heady" players who field their position well AND hit well. High batting average is only one part of the equation, and being a good hitter can be done with high slugging and obp.
  21. I'm with you, like SS, not near enough CF depth close to MLB ready. Hopefully Buxton works out, and then have two good CF options.
  22. I doubt Pelfrey would admit out loud to the press that he deserves to be demoted or moved to the bullpen.
