  1. I'm not saying you're wrong, but they already have at bats for Arcia. I can't see including Parm in the decision making process. Morny has value in the current lineup and I can't see cutting a check for 5-6M if Ryan can't receive something fairly significant in return. Just like Perkins, I think it's a win-win situation. If we can get a haul great, if not we retain 2 of our better players. 7-31 in not a defining moment in this franchise.
  2. I agree. Surprised only 3 college pitchers in the top 15. I'm hoping for our SS of the future with some pop, otherwise a college starter with a high floor who can make it to Target Field in 2015.
  3. I agree. A couple of these guys are starting to look like they belong and plenty of time for another one or two. We rebuilding or as Terry Ryan would say, it's a transitional year. Things look so much better than they did a year ago and I'm starting to think they will make at least a small incremental step before the season ends. We all know the cavalry is on the way.
  4. Good point about playing between Sano and Rosario. I actually thought they would go with a great field/no hit SS last year. Wasn't expecting one this good. Good pick up by Ryan.
  5. Always best to win.
  6. But Chief, there's Fargo, Bismarck, and Minot International Airport.
  7. Whom is continuing to bring up The Shining Light? I'm providing the counterargument for those keeping score at home, that maybe things aren't so joyful in Mudville.
  8. But Mike, some fan bases just don't want to wait for 16 years-old to develop. I like what he did and I like King Theo, but standing on the mountain top and screaming you're in the rebuilding mode, doesn't play well in Chicago. They didn't spent all that money to get him away from Boston, to win 1 more game than the Twins and Cub's fans expect more. I really have to question where the OP stated Cub's fans are thrilled. Did I mention King Theo was hired a month before Ryan and presided over the Cubs worst season in 46 years? Cub's fans are thrilled, yet I don't believe a single poster on this board is all that happy about the Twins current plight.
  9. I have never heard of a fan base thrilled about a rebuild. Could you provide me with the exact words these thrilled Cubs fans you know are using? I work in Schaumburg every winter and I want to share the giddiness with my co-workers.
  10. I think back when they were called the Senators.
  11. I'm not sure about the strategy, but I do know it's not playing well for the richest franchise in the 3rd largest market. Fans want International signings but by that they mean Cubans or Japanese who can play right now. They don't seem too impressed by what is considered an aggressive mid-market approach.
  12. I agree Nick. I'm guessing Ryan will try to resign him before the end of the season.
  13. I couldn't agree more. It's not like he's not wearing a batting helmet.
  14. Hard to argue that if we had followed the brilliant Cubbie strategy, we would have 2 more wins and maybe even the 8th best farm system. Don't forget their record breaking expenditure of purchasing 16 years-olds in the International market. They have adroitly positioned themselves to dominate in the 2020's.
  15. Jim your example made my arm hurt. I pitched in North Dakota in college and rarely threw my curve until the end of the season. Simply too cold and could never get a feel for it. I ran sprints between innings to keep a sweat on, so the number of pitches was no problem. Really didn't use the curve unless the sun came out. Go Vikings!
  16. You're not minimizing the accomplishments of the FO of your favorite team are you?
  17. Your position on Ryan is softening? Couldn't have been much over a week ago you said he was pathologically adverse to risk.
  18. With the top farm system in baseball, not very likely the Twins are lagging behind, but any rebuilding team is certainly an easy target.
  19. I try to give the FO a little leeway every time Joe has kids.
  20. This is not an uncommon sentiment of the anti-Ryan group. They feel signing a top tier starting pitcher during free agency is the only way. The pro-Ryan group realizes there are only about 5 per year and very unlikely this happens. IMHO this is insurmountable.
