  1. All but one of these players was unknown to me and I wonder how they rank where they do over some I have heard about. I especially wonder how Fernando Romero can make #25 when he did not even pitch last year.
  2. Please - the Twins will not step up to the true aces on the market and lets not encourage Terry Ryan to go out and sign another lower cost vet - we have Nolasco, Hughes, Santana clogging the system now. Bring up Berrios, work with Duffey, Gibson, Berrios and make a trade with the others. Get young, not mediocre.
  3. Sad discussion. The concussions to Mauer and Morneau devastated them and the team and it is truly sad to see us have to debate whether the highest paid player should be a PH. On the other hand, we need to play the best each night and if it is not Joe he has a few million reasons to feel okay.
  4. Let's hope we can have a full season MVP next year - that would make quite a difference.
  5. No more FA long term contracts blocking the young players. Bundle and trade for Catcher help, otherwise the future is now.
  6. Tyler Duffey - without him the drama of September would not have happened.
  7. Dozier should have been dropped in the lineup - not from the lineup. But we have these crazy unwritten laws - Dozier at the top of the lineup for the entire second half makes no sense. Escobar was better than him in the last half. But ultimately it is pitching that is the issue and we have to look for change next year even if it means eating the contracts of non-effective starters. Perkins should have sat and they need to think about next year - which perkins will it be, is Jepsen the answer, is Tonkin ready to step up? Or will be surprised by Burdi or someone else in the minors. Duffey showed us that young arms can be effective and Berrios probably would have done the same.
  8. Isn't is amazing what can happen when you let a young arm in to the rotation? Here we are with a rookie and a man who is not eligible for the post season anchoring the staff - poor roster management, they need help and the rest of the staff is a finger crossed hope for the best group.
  9. Too soon. I like his time in the majors and I expect him to break out next year and show us the real promise he holds to be much better than Cameron.
  10. I believe there is value in just sitting on the bench and getting in the MLB atmosphere. We have a record of trading centerfielders - would we really do another one? We are still not sure if Buxton is ready and we have no idea if Kepler really is either.
  11. Pelfrey has become a three inning relief pitcher only he does his three innings at the beginning of the game. Wouldn't Dean and Berrios look good in the rotation - a six person rotation would be fine for the team and saving the arms and put Pelfrey in the bullpen where 2 innings would be good?
  12. How could it hurt the Twins to have Kepler on the bench? First no Berrios, now no Kepler. I would add Beresford too - Plouffe is not close to last year and another 3B on the bench would not hurt.
  13. Who would be the Major League starting pitcher of the month? What a question. We sure don't need these minor leaguers during this playoff run when we have such quality to run out each night.
  14. I am always delighted when the young players come up and get a taste of MLB. Santana and Vargas need this to test their improvement. But the call ups must continue - we all know Berrios should be up and I would put Walker on the bench even if it was not intended that he play. We have him going to AZ - give him a sense of what he is working for. And do the same with Kepler.
  15. The catchers are an indication of the team desperation to get someone ready to assume the major league position in the next year.
  16. Berrios should get three innings and a plane ticket to join the Twins. Arcia, Walker, and Vargas would get my nomination. Potential on the bench is worth something and calling them up does not hurt anything. Third catcher is something that our current list does not really give us except Fryer. Another relief pitcher and that is all I can see.
  17. Hicks showed what patience can produce. Bring Vargas up in Sep and let him demonstrate his improved approach.
  18. In the playoffs domination counts and we do not have a dominating pitcher. Remember when Washington decided to rest Strasburg because, of course, they would be back every year! Get our best pitcher up and let him get some meaningful outs.
  19. They are the proverbial spare tire - patches all over the place when a new inner tube or tire is needed. The veterans are not going to do and right now the young are not either, but the Astros showed us that giving the young a year to fail together could lead to a year where they succeed together.
  20. Look at the Twins season - tell me a real reason for keeping Berrios in the minors? Some kids are ready at 21 and do not look back - JO looks like one of them. No more Duffey, Jepson, Achter... bring this kid up and even if he has to go down again the ride to the top will begin.
  21. Confusing conclusions in a confusing season. Arcia is a case in point - what are we doing, Duffey, but not Berrios? Not moving Pelfrey for something? Jepsen for any anything? What was that all about? This is a strange set of facts just like May in the Bullpen, Graham, Blaine, and Duensing in the pen? Terry what is your plan?
  22. Disappointment is his specialty. Someone in the marketing and upper management should remind Terry that this is a business and you might want to do something to make your clients happy.
  23. doing nothing would have served us better. Cn't se just develop those minor league arms and use them?
  24. Experiment - bring up the young players and rotate them through the rest of the season, see if someone develops the hot hand that Santana had last year - Polanco? The catchers are either going to cost too much of the future or be a step back (A J ) and we do not need another old Twin reunion. We have Suzuki and mediocre back up, but hopefully we will develop something before the contract for Suz is up. I am not big on trading from the stable of prospects. I would not mind Gibson for Tulo since Gibson is more likely to regress than star, but Berrios is a big NO.
  25. NO - let's build from within. Do not trade the future for mediocrity or short term. We have done that in the past and there is no plus.
