  1. Houston finally moving up. Him and Diaw should tear it up in AA now. Ive noticed a team wide pitching problem. Every level seems to have an elevated ERA. Even the highly touted prospect pitchers seem to be struggling. Is it an organizational philosophy issue or...?
  2. We've seen this a couple times already this season. Most of the problem with this team has been the bullpen. How many losses came from a Bullpen blowup? Quite a few. How many times has the game been close and the bullpen gave up runs and made the deficit insurmountable? Banda and Gomez are the only guys I trust at this point. Rogers is decent still, but not a late inning guy anymore. Adams is a 1 inning guy. He was left in way too long this week and it was the difference in that game. Rojas coming back will help, especially since it got Lawrence out of here. Morris, Orze have been prone to give up a big inning. Adding a couple more guys you can trust to the bullpen would help the team immensely. It push some of these other guys into lower leverage or off the roster entirely. IMO, we aren't far from being a legitimate wild card team. The problem is bullpen help is so volatile. Even if a guy was good before we trade for him, he could be a disaster after we get him. We've seen it before too many times. The front office needs to do a better job of identifying quality bullpen guys to trade for.
  3. Very glad Rojas is back. Lawrence was terrible. I initially assumed Paredes was a warm body to throw innings while all the starters are injured. He has done well in his short time. At this point, I dont think he'd be the guy I'd send down when/if a starter actually comes back off the IL. Kriedler needs to be the starting SS until Culpepper is ready. I prefer Alex Jackson catching over Caratini. Better defender IMO.
  4. Been saying this since he was called up. Kriedler should be the every day SS until Culpepper is ready for a call up. Not only is he a FAR superior defender (and I believe his numbers will improve with regular playing time), his offensive numbers , so far, have also been better than Gray, Lee, and Arcia. (Although I doubt that will remain the case) On a separate note, I also think it should have been Gray sent down and not Arcia. Simply because Arcia is a much better defender.
  5. How has Wallners defense been at AAA? It was pretty awful at Target Field. With Bells bat coming around recently, would the team still call him up for another chance? Too many bat only poor defenders on the team already.
  6. Well what I'd really like is for the team send him to AAA to work on defense, but i really doubt they would, which is why I said utility. But yeah he is not good on defense.
  7. Gray is awful. Ive been saying for weeks they need to leave Kriedler at SS, simply for his glove. Anything from the bat will be a bonus. Same with Keaschall. As has been stated, love the energy, but his glove and arm are so bad. Lewis looks good at 1B, but can he also look good at 2B? Maybe swap those 2? I really dont know. I think his bat will come around. Can Keaschall handle 1B? Will his bat play at 1B? It seems the team wont send him down for some reason. My answer would be to put Clemens at 2B and move Keaschall to utility. With Clemens at 2B and Kriedler at SS, the defense would be much much better and the offense would actually improve.
  8. So from the CBA rumors, there is obviously talk of a salary floor. My comments here are based on that. If that is strongly believed to be happening by the owners, its slightly possible we could see ownership moving in that direction at the deadline. Possibly trying to lock up Ryan to an extension. Acquiring "decent" bullpen guys. Trying to address the most glaring weakness of any team in the league. (If we had even an "average" bullpen, I gotta believe we'd be over .500 right now) Sorry, got carried away into fantasy land there. But wouldnt it be nice if they went anywhere in that direction?
  9. Banda and Gomez have been the only 2 relievers you can trust. Trading them would be the wrong message for the fan base. I'd prefer they find a solid reliever or 2 to add at the deadline. Larnach is one that should be traded. He's a platoon bat only at this point and the team has too many of those. I dont think trading Ryan would be a good idea. The team needs an Ace. Sure there are decent starting pitchers on the roster, but none are of Ace quality at this time. I'm also hoping he can be extended. If you can find a taker for Caratini, make the trade. Of the 2 catchers, I'd rather have Jackson.
  10. Very glad to see Diaw moved up. He earned it. Houston should be moved up soon, as well. We're all ready for Culpepper. Jenkins and ERod keep getting hurt, might just have to call them up and try to get a few healthy games at Target Field once theyre off the IL.
  11. Ive said it before and I'll say it again, until Culpepper comes up, Kriedler should be the starting SS. Especially after Arcia was DFA today. Gray is not getting it done. Also, with Fedko up, I'd definitely like to see Clemens at 2B more. Keaschall is struggling bad. I like Martin, I was happy he got the starting spot in RF, but hes struggling even more. At minimum, him and Fedko should platoon in RF. But at this point, Martin is struggling so bad, maybe Fedko takes over for a bit and see what he can do? Sounds like some injured guys are getting close. Maybe some of them can come back and create a spark.
  12. Again with this bullpen 🤦‍♂️ Is Sands the only "reinforcement" coming back from the IL any time soon? Even at his best it wont be enough. Even the starters, outside of Ryan, aren't pitching well. 6 runs should be plenty to win a ballgame.
  13. IMO Marek Houston and Kaelen Culpepper are ready to move up a level. Tait is looking terrible. Diaw is absolutely ahead of Tait and looks close to moving up a level, too.
  14. Terrible night for the bullpen. Yikes. Kody Clemens with another good game. .802 OPS now. Incredible career half season for him so far. He's really been defying his career numbers. Bucks bat is on fire 🔥 He is so fun to watch! Royce is heating up! Still early, but maybe I was wrong about him...I hope I was. Lee with his hot and cold bat. Its like a roller-coaster with him. After the great start, Gomez has given up a run in 3 of 4 outings, I believe. Definitely not ideal. Orze was just plain awful tonight. Probably should've left Rogers in for that last out. Couldn't have done any worse.
  15. Kriedler is who I would keep. He has 5 years of team control left and he sets the highest floor defensively. He can backup shortstop and center field best out of any options on the team. Gray would be my first pick to go. He has been pretty terrible defensively and his clutch moments are unlikely to be sustainable. I like Arcia. He has a lower OPS but a decent batting average. Singles are still hits. Plus hes a better defender than gray. I'd keep him until the roster spot is needed.
  16. Im not interested in trading Kody or Gomez. The team struggles enough, why would we trade away some of our few bright spots that still have team control. Especially in the bullpen. We need more guys performing like Gomez is right now, not less. Rogers is a Great veteran presence. Numbers aren't as good as analytics say they should be, so maybe room for improvement? However, if he signed here for the purpose of finishing his career where it started, then I'd ask him before trading him. I feel he's earned that respect. Larnach can be traded. Should've been traded in the off season. The team doesnt need more platoon bats with no defensive value. Isn't this his last season of team control? He's not part of the future and not good enough that you'd want to extend him.
  17. I would not be in favor of trading Kody. He is exactly the type of player I would want on my team. Good attitude. Good energy. Good clubhouse guy. Plays above average defense all over the field. Has a little pop to his bat. Clearly still in his prime. Most importantly for the owners, his cost is low.
  18. Disappointing week. The bullpen has lost so many games this season. Theres a couple decent arms there, but a lot of inconsistencies too. Shelton needs to quit messing around with this closer by committee and stick with Gomez. His response to dropping those ineffective pitches has been great. Banda seems to have turned it around after a very rough start. Morris and Adams just aren't ready yet, but pitching up here out of necessity. Rogers and Orze have looked good one night and questionable the next. Outside of Banda and Gomez, I dont trust anyone else. Clemens is having such a great season so far. Solid to very good defense wherever he's playing. The bat has been more consistent than in the past. Its been really good to watch. Buck and Jeffers playing well, too. Unfortunately both are injured. But the rest of the team has been pretty awful. Larnach has been ... ok ... but I'm still not a fan of his defense. Martin went from great to unplayable. Atleast his defense has been good. Bell is so bad. Brooks Lee keeps flirting with being an average bat, but we need so much more from him. Hopefully his defensive number improve with the move to 3B. I thought Keaschall was turning it around but hes ice cold again. His defense is below average, too. Caratini has been awful. We'll see what happens with Lewis, but early results are not inspiring. At this point, I just dont understand why the guys mashing at AAA aren't getting a look. Fedko, Sabato, etc. They really cant be any worse than what we have.
  19. Absolutely not. Neither was Lewis. A handful of good games against pitching he should Absolutely be crushing doesnt mean hes magically fixed. His defense is non existent. This team has too many bat only players already, and they cant hit either this year. I like Wallner and his bat has, in the past, been capable of changing games. But unless he can crush MLB pitching enough to DH, I just dont see a spot for him.
  20. Kody Clemens is the best hitter on the team when Buxton sits. Another good day at the plate for Kody. Look, I'm a big fan of Kody Clemens. I like him more than most on this page. But I'm also realistic. You just dont have a good team with that statement being true. Was Prielipp pulled for pitch count?
  21. He needs to adjust. If he can adjust, he'll do better. If he can't, he may pitch his way back to AAA. Thats the simple answer, anyways.
  22. Such a frustrating game. Another 6 innings of 1 run ball from Ryan. But no offense. Arcia comes through with the pinch hit tie breaker and the BP let's us down again. Orze lacking the situational awareness to throw to 1st. Basic fundamentals. I understand the reasoning behind it, but I'm tired of the closer by committee. Pick a guy and let him get used to the role. My 1st choice is Gomez.
  23. Cant keep Outman on a ML roster with his production, or lack of. Long overdue, really. Was Lewis ready to return? I doubt it. It would have been nice to see him get more work in at 2B & 1B at AAA.
  24. Did we win the trade? WAR suggests we did. Based on what value we expected to get from the players, I'd say not really. Sim was doing ok until this year. But, IIRC, Martin was touted as a future star. So far this year, he's had a good OBP and I like that, but unfortunately lately hes looked more like a platoon guy. His defense in the corner outfield spots seems to be decent. So, sure, we may have "won" the trade based on analytics, but we didnt get what we were sold on. Ive noticed we've had a rough time developing really any of our high end prospects.
