  1. Houston looks ready to move up to AA. Ive read here his glove is MLB ready. He's holding his own at High A. Culpepper looks ready for a call up too. Im still waiting for Tait to show me something. I thought he was highly touted for his bat and the glove at C was questionable? The Twins FO put a lot of pressure on him to be the catcher of the future trading away Duran for him. Im hoping he can live up to it.
  2. I would absolutely be in favor of extending Jeffers and I hope they do. But not for a $23M qualifying offer. I would think 6 years for 80-90M should work. He would be here throughout the rest of his prime and be able to help Tait or whoever the next catcher will be. If he wont sign an extension before the deadline and if he's healthy, unfortunately the best route will probably be trading him. The thing is, to my knowledge, there wont be a better catcher available as a free agent during the off-season. So I hope they try hard to get a deal done
  3. He is upset about something, but didnt reveal what. Said they will have discussions about this week to correct it. I like it. Keeping the issues in house. How it should be. He is a guy I like on the team and really hope they can extend him. Good competitor and seems to care.
  4. Nice start for Gallagher. A few rough outings after his call up to AAA, maybe he's adjusted a bit and figuring things out. Good to see Wallner heating up. Finally. He was in such a bad funk even the AAA pitching was eating him up for a bit. Glad to see Royce moved off 3B. Get him comfortable at 2B, maybe even 1B too. Culpepper, Fedko, Sabato are all still looking good with the bat. Doesn't seem like there much left to prove at AAA for Fedko and Sabato. Hill with only 8 outs on 70 pitches. Yikes.
  5. After a beating like that, its hard to remember we actually won the series. I know Gray is 5th on the team in RBIs but maybe SS isn't for him. I would really like to see more of Kriedler at SS. He is a better defender than every starter on the team except catcher and probably Buxton. He may not hit a ton but he'll catch the darn ball.
  6. My preference would be to extend Ryan for 4 or 5 years. As mentioned in the article, he is an Ace type pitcher. If we want to compete, we need dominant pitchers like Ryan. Based on what i read here on TD, we have a logjam of talent at AAA waiting to be called up. Roden, Erod, and Jenkins are currently injured, but Culpepper is close. Fedko doesn't seem to have much left to prove at AAA, nor does Sabato. Gonzalez seems ready to, at minimum, be a solid platoon bat. Hendry Mendez has been great at AAA and will be ready for a call up soon. Ross is doing great since his call up too AAA, as has Olivar. Then there's still Roden, who has MLB experience. ERod who is ready but often injured, and Jenkins not far behind. When will we see these guys? Obviously not all will pan out at the MLB level, but I'd sure like to get a look at them. So, while I agree trading Ryan would get us a haul in return, when would we even see them play? Or would it be AA players or lower? If thats the case, hard pass for me.
  7. I understand some folks dont like Clemens, But I am a fan! He is good to very good defensively at a few positions. If he can even be "average" with the bat, he is an extremely valuable player on any team. Then add in an entire month of really good production at the plate and he looks even better.
  8. IIRC, I thought i read somewhere that they had him drop a couple ineffective pitches and its worked well so far.
  9. With the trade for a BP arm, after giving up 2 more runs my best guess is Adams being sent back down? Bit of a rough start for Ryan. Gray with the Slam! Similar spot to his Slam in the Home Opener. 5th on the team in RBIs. He's been clutch.
  10. Rough week. Too many injuries. So many players struggling. Let's see how this plays out.
  11. He's not good at 3B. Thats just the truth of it. He may have a problem with changing positions, but I'm not sure he should have much say on the subject. Change of scenery may be the best option for him. I understand that he is still young and in his prime but the things he says makes it sound like he's not interested in playing here anymore. Just my opinion. He's always destroyed AAA pitching. So that fact he's doing it again is not surprising or unexpected. Give him a 1B glove and see how he responds.
  12. I was a bit more optimistic than most before the season and this is about where I expected the team to be record wise. With the starting pitching we have and expecting positive regression from some of the hitters, I was expecting around .500ish give or take. I was Hopeful of a youth movement and it sounds like that might be coming. Im expecting expiring contracts to be traded away before the deadline and a lot of the younger players finally getting called up. Players like Bell and Larnach shouldn't be part of the future. I was Hopeful we could sign Jeffers to an extension, but I really doubt that will be possible, so unfortunately he too will need to be traded. Cant let him walk for free at the end of the season. Possibly even players like Wallner and Lewis if they have any trade value left? They might need a change of scenery. Outman? I do feel, if not for injuries, we'd have already seen debuts from ERod and maybe even Jenkins. Possibly others. So to this point, I feel Shelton has done well with identifying some of the weak links. It has to be difficult to manage when, in my opinion, we dont have all the right players on the team yet. Keaschalls defense at 2B has been pretty bad and I'm not so sure he'll stick there. Moving Lee off SS was a must, but I'm not sure 3B should be his home either. My opinion is he'd be better suited for 2B. We still need an everyday 1B. Clemens is doing admirable work, especially on defense, but his bat is a bit light for 1B. Great utility guy and I love having him on the team. Just some of my opinions. I dont know how much say he has over roster construction and call ups, etc. But Shelton is doing a decent job so far. I'd give him a B to this point. We have some really good players. Unfortunately, most of them are in the outfield and most of them waiting in AAA are also in the outfield. That makes it difficult, but with some savvy trades and good roster moves, we could be in for a really fun 2nd half of the season. Jenkins in LF Buxton Center ERod in RF Martin as a great super utility for IF / OF Trade Larnach and Outman from the mix and it clears some spots up. Get Culpepper up for SS. They'll have Lee at 3B I assume Keaschall will still be at 2B. I think his bat will come around. Need a solid 1B Clemens and Kriedler as Super Utility guys Trade Bell. Unfortunately trade Jeffers and we'll have Alex and Caratini at C. I'd like to see Alex start most of the time and see what we have in him. His defense is really good. Starting pitchers are doing well. Bullpen I am hoping can be addressed at the deadline. Atleast 1 shutdown arm we can use as a closer. IMO, this team can be pretty good this year yet. And darn fun to watch!
  13. Im enjoying it. The team has, so far, been willing to swap out ineffective players or even cut them. Which is something that hadn't been done much previously. I would much rather see a younger player called up and get a taste of MLB over a struggling vet any day. Seeing Lee moved off SS was great! Getting better defenders on the field is a must!
  14. Nice win. A couple base running blunders, but in the end, did enough to get the W. Great night for the pitching staff. No walks. Really nice start for Ryan. I'd have preferred to see him finish up the 8th but its just because 8 innings looks better on the box score than 7 2/3 😂
  15. Im not counting on Lee here at all. To this point he has shown me he has the ability to be a mediocre infield utility guy. He's bad at SS. IMO hes stretched at 3B. Maybe 2B is his home? He doesnt hit enough to be 1B. Which, to me, absolutely leaves the door open for Lewis. However, I completely agree with the article. He is owed nothing. I liked him in the outfield. But I'd like him to get a 1B glove too. See where he's best because 3B ain't it. IIRC him and Keaschall lead the team in Errors. Speaking of Keaschall, he's another one I feel needs to switch positions. He has not been good at 2B. He might need to look at the outfield. I think his speed will play well out there. I think his bat will come around. Do my opinions leave holes in the infield? Yes. Mostly because I dont believe we have the right players on the team yet. Sounds like Culpepper should stick at SS defensively from the reports here at TD. Atleast until Houston makes it up. Then we'll have Kaelen at 3B. Houston at SS. Lee at 2B? Royce at 1B if he can fix himself? Yes, some of these guys can grow and develop, they are younger. But that doesnt mean they will and im basing my opinions on what they've achieved so far.
  16. He is better defensively than Caratini and Jeffers. With Caratini struggling so bad right now, I think Jackson should be the catcher. Ill take better defenders all day long.
  17. Its impressive to me that ERod is still only 23 and is in his 3rd season at AAA. I hope he doesnt become another what if story with all the injuries. He's managed to play in only 84 games in parts of 3 seasons.
  18. Nice quality start for Zebby. Sim with a couple good innings. Offense couldn't get it done. May not have made a difference, but I wasnt too pleased with pinch hitting Caratini for the only guy with multiple hits today. Caratini is in such a bad slump right now. IMO he should take a break for 2/3 days and try to figure out what's going on.
  19. Has Royce Lewis become a AAAA player? He is destroying AAA pitching but looked so lost against MLB pitching. I hope he figures it out.
  20. IMO, Kriedler has earned the opportunity to be the starting everyday SS. He has the best glove on the team. Period. Im glad Lee was FINALLY moved off SS, but 3B shouldn't be his home either. He is probably best suited for 2B. But the team will probably leave him at 3rd. Keaschall cant handle 2B and is most likely a 1B. But Clemens is much better defensively and currently hitting better, too. I'd be in favor of sending Keaschall down to St Paul to get work at 1B and get his bat going again. Its been a rough year for him. Martin has definitely cooled off a bit, but he wasnt going to sustain a 900+ OPS for an entire season. He may prove me wrong, but I see him as a .750-.800 OPS guy, with mostly equal .375-.400 OBP and Slugging %. With good but not elite defense. Solid all around player. Unfortunately, I dont know that there's a spot on the roster for Matt Wallner long term. Not unless he's able to get his bat going and be a DH only. With Lee at 3B now, I'm not sure where that leaves Lewis. Can he play 2B? Would they move Lee to 2nd and put Lewis back at 3rd? He's another one probably destined for 1B, but, again, Clemens is currently an all around better player there.
  21. Another rough outing for Ober. Hopefully he's ok. Boy is Caratini struggling. That signing is looking worse by the day. His OPS has dropped lower than Outmans. Gomez gave up his first run as a Twin. He's done well so far. Dropping a couple of his ineffective pitches seems to have helped. Bullpen came through again. Nice 1 pitch save for Adams 😂 I am very happy Lee was finally moved off SS. I truly hope his time there is completely done. Arcia and Kriedler have been great there, Kriedler especially. His defense is great at a few positions. And Arcia coming up with the hot bat! Much needed. Today's infield defense was as good as this team can get. Lee at 3rd. Kriedler at SS. Arcia at 2B. Clemens at 1B. They can play that lineup everyday.
  22. Welcome back Taj! Great start. Could tell he was running out of gas in the 5th with 5 straight out of the zone. Nice recovery to finish it out. Rojas had 3 effective innings. He's a bit wild but he's getting it done. Rogers coming in and shutting the door.
  23. Trade Larnach. Trade Bell. Super easy decisions there. If we can't sign Jeffers to an extension, it stinks but we must Trade him. Cant get nothing for such a good catcher. Lewis and Wallner depend on the return. Im open to trading or keeping. Just don't want to give them away. Im keeping Ryan unless I'm absolutely blown away by an offer. And not Alan roden and Kendry Rojas 🙄 "blown away" . I mean actual potentially franchise altering player blown away. Absolutely not trading Buxton ever unless he asks for it. Hoping he stays his entire career
  24. Rough night for Prielipp. Hope its just a hiccup and not a trend. Rough defense...again. Good 1st start for Gonzalez. Is Keaschall heating up?
