Self imposed or not, the team is in a difficult spot. When Tom took over, Falvey was still making moves. Turns out they were trying to go in different directions. Now Falvey is gone, but with the timing of it all, there weren't many free agents available that would have filled holes. Over paying for the questionable bullpen arms that were/are left wouldn't genuinely excite the fan base and they shouldn't sign a player for the sake of making a move. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt for now. See how things proceed from here. What young players step up and prove they belong and hopefully next season (or possibly the trade dealine) they'll be prepared to make exciting moves to actually strengthen the teams nucleus and not just the margins.

Best catcher left on the market after Realmuto signed earlier today. It is an interesting signing. Leaves me wondering how the roster will look come opening day.

95 OPS+ to finish up last season. Possibly the best defensive SS we have now? Idk, trying to find positives

No. He can't play above average, or even average, shortstop anymore. That is the only infield position we need backup for. The rest are all covered.

Its nice to Woods Richardson finally getting some well deserved credit. He's constantly down played or said to not have a firm hold on a rotation spot. He's put up consistent results as a solid pitcher in a decent rotation.

I see a lot of people on this site talking poorly about Wallner because he "only" had a 110 OPS+ last season, but they all fail to mention he was pretty beat up most of the season. Im hoping after an off-season of rest he'll be healthy and back to his old self. My hope for Lewis is this new coaching staff can find whatever part of his game he lost. Maybe its as simple as the confidence and the intentional praise this off-season is a start. And Lee. I can't figure him out. His defense in AAA was good. I can understand the offense taking longer to catch up in the majors but I'd have figured the defense would atleast be good. Again, I'm hoping the new coaches can help him.

There are A lot of these "younger" guys that have struggled in the majors. My hope is the new coaching staff may have new ideas to unlock the real potential. There is a lot of talent here. Just need to translate it to the majors.

I like the idea Phillips, but how available will he really be this season? Relievers can be inconsistent from year to year. Top of my list is filling the closer position. I feel if we can get a quality closer, there will be enough talent to fill out the rest of the pen.

If Buxton wants to be a Twin for life, I feel the team should make that happen. It may be an old school way of thinking, but far too often nowadays great players are traded or let go for "business reasons". As a Twins fan, I've been lucky enough to see a few great players spend their entire career with the Twins in Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett, and Joe Mauer. It would great to see Buxton join them on that list.

For the bullpen, I understand there are a lot of young arms waiting to convert to relief. 1 decent sign or trade for someone to be the closer isn't too much to ask, is it?

You can over analyze any player and find stats to make them look bad. The truth is the guy can hit. Tony Gwynn lite. I would take Arraez over any free agent 1B this year not named Pete. Putting the ball in play makes things happen a lot more than striking out. In this time of homerun or bust, a player like Arraez is undervalued and under appreciated.

I could be wrong, but I feel like this may be the 1st time Royce has ever had difficulty with baseball. He was always better than those around him. He was great when he came up. Then maybe the league figured him out? And now he's struggling to adjust? I hope the new coaching staff can unlock his greatness. We've seen it. O'hearn would be acceptable. Lowe would be ok hoping for a bounce back season. The rest of the list is an absolute no. There are already too many players on the team that can't play defense. If a 1B with decent enough defense and some thump isn't in the price range, I'd like to see that high OBP guy with good defense and sign a DH with Power. We have a few guys on the team already that are supposed to have some thump, but not many with high BA or OBP.

Is the 2025 version of Clemens an ideal starting 1B? Probably not. As we saw last season, he'll win us some games, but I dont think he'll lose us games. Im fine with Clemens being the starting 1B at this time, simply because I believe there are other spots on the roster that need far more attention. There hasn't been any indication of payroll numbers but I can only assume it wont be a lot. Fixing the bullpen is a necessity. After that, upgrade SS and 1B. Clemens and Lee as utility

Goldschmidt has had a great career, but its not where the Twins should be spending money. He had a .731 OPS last season. As a Twin, Kody Clemens had a .725 OPS. Kody is younger and at this point plays better defense at 1B. If these 2 are the choices, I'd stick with Clemens.

If you trade one of Buxton/Ryan/Lopez, just trade them all and add in Larnach and Jeffers while you're at it. I dont want them to trade any of the top 3. But if they do, get back prospects with actual skill and hype. Last trade deadline was sad getting back Outman and players that already debuted and struggled.

Perada as a 3rd catcher is the only of these I can really find a real reason to keep on the 40 man. The rest, and possibly a couple others, will hopefully not be on the roster when the season starts. It almost gives me hope that there will be some moves made to make the team better.

I have to disagree for #2. Just not interested in him for the same reasons im not interested in Larnach staying on the team. Not enough offense for the position and not enough defense. Nathielle Lowe would better a better option, possibly in a similar price range. I would also propose addressing Ryan Jeffers and the catching situation. Either sign him long term or trade him and sign someone like Jonah Heim. Trading Jeffers could possibly bring in a better 1B option.

My bet is Kriedel was brought in to compete with Fitzgerald for that backup SS spot. With Eeles gone, I assume Culpepper will start at AAA. If he continues to perform well, he could find his name called up if Lee falters again. Also, I thought I read somewhere that Marek Houstons glove was MLBready, its his bat that isn't. If thats the case, no need to sign the worst hitter in baseball. Just bring him up for his glove and get help from MLB coaches.

My opinion, we have more than enough OFers. I truly believe atleast 3 of the OFers (probably more) on the roster can produce at an above average level. With Buxton, we are already 1/3 of the way there. I'd be interested in Lowe for a multi year deal to lock up 1B. Aside from his time in Washington, he has been a solid player. My other opinion for non tendered player. Jonah Heim. Now I could be wrong, but there is a lot of talk about cashing in on Jeffers. If he is traded, we'd have Heim and the recently acquired backup. Still a solid catching tandem and it brings back some sort of players, whether it be prospects or MLB ready talent.

Solid but unspectacular trade. Shipped out a player we weren't going to use for a position of need. Does nothing for excitement. Won't know if the trade was good until the games are played. A falvey special, really. A player that hasn't performed well in limited opportunities, hoping he breaks out in a Twins uniform.

The pitchers are intriguing for sure, so why not? Lowe is definitely better than Clemens, but I wouldn't want to sign him for just 1 year. A multi year deal to solidify 1st base for a while. The reason is, outside of the bullpen, I dont want to see any 1 year deals. If we're signing someone, make it count for this coming season and the future. I'd rather see someone already in the system play this year over any scrap heap signing.

I may be in the minority here, but im all for this. He's never been given a real opportunity and last year he hit 19 home runs in about a half season worth of at bats. His defense is good enough and if he plays every day, he could reasonably improve there, as well. 2026 is a season I'm excited to finally see all this young talent waiting in the minors. See what we have. Shore up the bullpen. Get a few of these young guys to show they belong. We have talented starting pitchers. If a few things go right, this team is able to compete. It wouldn't be the first time a team has done this and won. Detroit did it recently.
