  1. Thanks, that was fun. Great editing. Your neighbor's commentary was entertaining as well. Kernels are in Beloit in 2 weeks (an hour from my home) and I'm hoping to see them.
  2. ARCIA GO BOOM!!! I know it's late but I love when I get to say that.
  3. I think your handle should be Gran Bark Reserva, like the bottle.
  4. He's looked good in the field as well. He turned a really sweet DP yesterday- good pickup, perfect throw, hustled back to the bag and was in good position for the return throw.
  5. I thought this was interesting- thanks. I learned things. This sentence certainly conflicted with the tone of the rest of it, though: "Again, this isn’t a really strong relationship, but you can kind of see it." Hmmm...it is always tempting to use our eyes to do statistics when we don't get a strong enough result from the calculator.
  6. Goalies get credited with losses, too, even if they stop 10 breakaways and lose 1-0. If goalies play like crap, the team tends to lose rather than win, though I suppose you could dig and find a couple exceptions. Closers don't do basically the same job as other relievers. Just about every failed closer is someone who was a good reliever during other parts of the game. Except Eck and Smoltz, I guess.
  7. As the father of a soccer goalie, all I can say is AMEN! Forget the offenders who missed the wide-open shot, forget the defender who pulled someone down in the box- it's the goalie who doesn't save the penalty shot who blew the game.
  8. I think you meant to say "a good closet in a bad house", right?
  9. http://img.picturequotes.com/2/323/322639/never-give-up-never-surrender-quote-1.jpg
  10. Time for the pitcher's best friend.
  11. To just barely misquote the Outlaw Josey Wales, "fair's got nuthin' to do with it".
  12. Wait, is that code for you took the dog out and we scored runs?
  13. Actually- why not put Nolasco out there? 0-0 in the 3rd, it's basically a start, rest on the off-day.
  14. What a great play by Rosario there.
  15. And unfortunately, Santana is missing on the bottom corner rather than the left corner.
  16. He's not only calling that corner, he's calling the corner around the corner from that corner.
  17. Fortunately, we're probably going to go into another rain delay so Cy Tillman will leave the game. We'll answer with our long reliever. I guess. This is an astonishing array of Twins K's right now. I wish I hadn't eaten all of Chi-Town's caramel corn. I'm hungry again.
  18. Any updates on the rain delay from someone with a live broadcast?
  19. Hawk lives on the border of Indiana and Michigan, and is quite a ways away from the home park. I think the logic is that he can go on the road, stay in the hotel there, and just stay home when the team plays in Chicago. As a resident of the Chicago TV-shed, I would just like to propose that he never leave Indiana and allow someone less ridiculous to call the games. Which means just about anyone could do the job, except Ed Farmer. Jerry Reinsdorf's loyalty to his employees is unquestionable, and painful to experience as a listener.
  20. No...but I did have a bottle of Jameson's in my office closet for a while. Unfortunately, I drank it all (over a period of several years and with a couple of colleagues) and have not replaced it. My bad.
  21. Lagunitas for me...but I have to get home from work first.
  22. The nice thing about this team is that no matter how bad the pitching might be in a particular game, we're gonna have a chance to win it with the bats. At least we're going to feel like we have a shot. Most days.
  23. Yeah, I hate Jeter too. Both really good ballplayers, clutch, guys who beat my team, and smug jerks. But I'd feel differently if they were our smug jerks.
  24. I lived in the Bay Area during the 80s. He got called Wrench some, anyway- I don't remember it getting used all that much out there, but it was around. He was also the Gladman.
