  1. This would be a good time to hit Adam Jones as payback for Pinto
  2. I will vote for Dozier. However, 36 14-year-old KC hackers are going to vote 42 million times, so maybe I'll just spend the day at work, working. For a change.
  3. That catch was definitely worth the wait! Nice call. That thing I said earlier about the Rosario-Buxton-Hicks outfield? Excitement is ramping up here.
  4. I'm starting to get kind of excited about the Rosario-Buxton-Hicks outfield of 2016.
  5. Ty-ler Jay! <clap> Ty-ler Jay! <clap> Ty-ler Jay! <clap> Ty-ler Jay! <clap>
  6. Thanks for the link to the video. Would be fun to go see the Lookouts play "hit the ball until it screams". I thought the bat boy was running out to greet Kepler after the catch- no, that's our 5-9, 200 lb second baseman Meneses. Looking at the video, the 5-9 is optimistic and the 200 might be pessimistic...
  7. Nice writeup, thanks. Walker...meaningless run, picked off first base with two outs in the ninth...ouch. Nice to see Mr. Sano doing well.
  8. Very glad to hear it, looking forward to watching him. Welcome to the Bigs, Mr. Meyer!
  9. I agree, and that's my point, actually- if we are giving up on the playoffs, let him learn. If we aren't, go get a real DH who can help the team now. Neither Escobar nor Nunez is a solution.
  10. I'm close to losing it watching Vargas strike out with men on base by taking a strike, or flailing at a pitch in the dirt. There are no good options for DH on the roster right now.
  11. Vargas since his return- .167 BA, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI (36 at-bats). 13 K's, 0 BB's. If we are giving up on the year, let him work through it and hope he develops. If we aren't, we need to fix that spot. Right now he's the Designated Out, unless it's the ninth inning against St. Louis. I promise to still wear my Mauer jersey if Joe sits for a while, though I don't know what sitting him accomplishes at this point.
  12. I agree with you in principle, but so far (and somewhat to my surprise) Hicks is looking like a better-than-replacement level CF. If I have jinxed him now I will forever be sorry.
  13. Thanks a lot, great to have a broader perspective on this. Good luck this season!
  14. And a step above being a journeyman is probably the category Roy SMalley fell into. He still played a lot of positions, moved around a bit, but he always managed to find a better than half-time job for his services. -- Roy Smalley retired with a WAR of 27.8 (finishing 4th in the league in 1979). He led the league in assists for 5 straight years. He was in the top 3 shortstops in the league for the same 5 straight years. He started an All-Star game. 80% of his games were at shortstop. If that's one step above journeyman, it's a heck of a step.
  15. Nice discussion of journeymen and Trevor Plouffe, but I wouldn't put them in the same group. Plouffe's salary for this year is $4.8 million. He's made over $7 million just in the last two years and he's certainly been a solid regular. I don't think there's any doubt Plouffe will get that long-term multi-million dollar deal you mention, though it certainly might not be with the Twins.
  16. Nice effort by Arcia. Too bad he used the glove with the big hole in the pocket.
  17. Wow, Dozier just killed that foul ball.
  18. He would not have been out if he had made a decent slide. Man, Danny's scuffling. Watch for his next at-bat, where he might strike out on two pitches.
  19. You'd think at a minimum, Boras would have encouraged him to be ready to play. Maybe they were no longer talking after that fiasco.
  20. Well, that was quite a half-inning. Very glad it's over.
  21. OK, let's plunk a batter here and see what happens. Won't that be fun?
  22. Well, this might be the start of the new Josmil Pinto era. Zuke looks hurt, and he usually looks like he could shake off a collision with a pickup truck. edit-- nope, just a line drive to his ankle from about 45 feet away. Just shake it off, no problem. Nothing another 8 innings of squatting won't fix.
  23. THE ROYALS MADE AN ERROR!!!! THE ROYALS MADE AN ERROR!!!! ARCIA AND SHAFER HAVE CAUGHT EVERYTHING HIT TO THEM SO FAR!!!! GRAB CANNED FOOD AND THE KIDS AND DRIVE OUT OF TOWN. FAST.
  24. Arcia and Shafer have both made catches in the outfield. Encouraging News or Sign of the Apocalypse? Discuss. Santana looked even more clueless than usual during his "at-bat". Update- Shafer now 2 for 2.
