  1. based on the first inning, stand on the warning track and hope.
  2. re Polanco...not that I want Dozier to go anywhere.
  3. I like Polanco. Let's find a place to play him.
  4. Nice half-inning by E-San. Let's beat the Snell out of Blake.
  5. Just noticed that he's on the 15-day DL, so not this series. Apparently he hurt his elbow while swinging and missing. I'm going to guess he was swinging really, really hard.
  6. I hope Arcia can start playing better...a week from now.
  7. My Kepler man-crush is just getting worse and worse. Or better and better, I guess.
  8. Oh, the old "it's a 75 out of 100 but the top score so you get an A" curve.
  9. I'm mostly disappointed that yesterday Eduardo Nunez got his first stolen base with the Giants, and his helmet stayed on all the way through the slide. What's up with that?
  10. Yeah, it turns out that sliding in shorts really hurts a lot. Figures the White Sox didn't think of that.
  11. That stat had me coughing in my coffee so I looked it up. 75 plate appearances...but still, nice work by him. Currently .294/.351/.515
  12. We need to win this one, just for my personal frame of mind. OK< that means I need to win this one. Let's win one for the big dog. Thank you.
  13. Kiriloff has had a heck of a first month. Wow. Lots of good news in these reports, thanks.
  14. I'm not going to draw any conclusions about the recent events until I review the Zapruder film. Did Antony push Ryan under the bus, or was it a stumble? Hmmm....
  15. -- Are you suggesting that the Pohlads told the AL who they wanted as the Twins representative in the All-Star game???
  16. If that is true, why do I keep running into so many terrible employees (including at my own workplace)? I agree with your sentiment, but it isn't nearly as true in business as it should be.
  17. What I'm anxious to see, but unfortunately don't expect to see, is Polanco getting 200 at-bats in the second half.
  18. Pointing out the value of rankings...that's a top 100 prospect who never made it above AA and has been in independent leagues since age 26. That kind of thing makes me feel even more that I probably overvalue prospects like Hu. Garza and Bartlett for Young struck me at the time as a worse decision than releasing Ortiz, and far worse than Ramos and Testa for Capps. Abad, Kintzler, etc: just flip 'em. Do it.
  19. Agreed on Capps/Ramos. Ramos also missed most of the 2011 season and almost half of each of the two following seasons with injuries. Even if he'd been here he wouldn't have been a full-time replacement for Mauer (unless he'd stayed healthy because of clean Minnesota living or something). I hated giving up Hu, but I also wonder if I am way too high on our prospects. Having Jepsen this year pitching a little worse than last year would have been a lot better than having Jepsen the current train wreck. We could have handled a little regression. I am not so convinced that it's as much of a coaching issue as some argue. Look at Hendriks. He's been gone for 3 years. 2 of the 3, including this year, have been really bad. We haven't missed much. Manship has put together a good year and a half with Cleveland after two dreadful years with two different teams since leaving the Twins. Not exactly an instant turnaround, a painful process other teams had to live with. I'm more convinced by the argument that mid-level RPs are mainly lightning in a bottle. Don't overpay, don't sign to extensions, just keep looking. Heck, Joh Rauch had a good year and a half here.
  20. No. He was the union rep, but not an all star.
  21. I think Jake Reed is the answer to that puzzle. Carter played with Moss.
  22. Yeah, that's my take. I think Arcia should have been used differently in previous years, but at this time and with this roster I think it's time to drop him. But I also think it's time to do a ton of different things, dropping Santana being another timely move. If this is the only move they make, what's the point.
