  1. Ah - you are trying to go back to the time and place when there was hope for the season. And that hope was more than hoping for a .400 record that we have right now.
  2. Although It might explain the game threads.
  3. I wish him the best and hope he does well even with the White Sox. I do wonder if it would be better for him if he listened more to his body and considered retirement instead, although I understand why it is so hard for these athletes to make that decision.
  4. The article is pretty on point and you cannot really argue with it. The one thing I don't have a problem with is the little post-game celebration. Sure it might be a little silly and even ridiculous considering the record, but it is a long season and if the players can have a moment to have fun and get their mind off of the futility of the season, it probably does them more good than harm. At this point they need to just take one game at a time and as long as they are taking things seriously and trying to do what they need to do otherwise, if that particular game allows them to have a bit of fun - go for it. I agree about the Ortiz celebration being odd. I thought the interview on the NBC webpage today was particularity bad in that it was not just criticizing the organization, but the fans as well.
  5. For all his success, it seems like Ortiz cannot quite let go of the bitter taste in his mouth of how things ended close to 15 years ago. On one hand, I like an athlete who is honest and not giving the normal cliches. On the other hand, he does come off whiny at times. Let it go David... http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2016/06/09/david-ortiz-on-his-time-with-the-twins-people-didnt-know-who-the-hell-we-were/
  6. When I was in college - it was a golden age of literature -=- Far Side, Bloom County, and Calvin and Hobbes were all on the top of their game. I have spent the evening posting on a webpage game thread as a utility player from the early part of the century - so that will give a hint at my social skills...
  7. I remember there were stories when Mauer was single, his "date" would get one of his Quick Swings, a coupon to Dairy Queen, and pair of Zubaz..
  8. Do you have to put her under whenever Nolasco pitches? [hope she is feeling better]
  9. For peace of mind, some things are best left undiscovered and not known.

  11. I am calling he is going to get the .55 homerun in the wild card play off game which they make by the skin of their teeth after having a historic July, August and September as the hottest team in baseball.
  12. The game threads have standards?
  13. Looks like the official car of the 2016 Twins.
  14. Safe to say - probably not discussion of the game.
  15. Is it a sign the season may not be going ideally, when Chief's jokes are a bright spot of the game?
  16. I think this video might have helped him get this award. Sadly, I am not sure I hit the ball this far in little league.http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/minnesota-twins-joe-mauer-swing-at-2-years-old-was-better-than-yours-is-now-053016
  17. Just curious - how much of that bad period coincides with his time leading off? I know in the long run that should not affect a hitter of his skill and experience - but it such a mental game. I know I have had difficulties keeping my mental focus just being a fan this year. I do think of all the big sports, baseball does have the biggest element of luck, at least for smaller sample sizes. You can have a week or even two where the bounce of the ball or a hard hit missing or not missing a fielder can really elevate or lower the stats for that time. I suppose we really won't know for sure for a few more months of what the real Mauer is now.
  18. I think he liked the tuna - piano - glue joke and it inspired him (he follows the game thread on the phone when he DHs and is not on the field.).
  19. I almost hate to ask this - have we won three in a row since that four game winning streak back when the earth was young?
  20. If it makes you feel better, there is a good chance you will have some time to get used to the 11.
  21. Wise - I have seen far too many innings where we have lost a lead or tie immediately after scoring because of things posted here.
  22. It takes a brave (or crazy) person to admit they think the same way as RB.
  23. I suppose asking Chief what his memories of Cain were would be a little too obvious of a comment.
  24. I have been avoiding Twins news due to the suggestion of my mental health specialist, but where is Perkins in his recovery process (not that he would make me feel safe and secure at this point)?
