  1. and Mauer can be back-up - solving that infield log jam situation with smart solutions..
  2. This version creeped me out as a kid: http://pinkman.mx/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/hyde.jpg
  3. Watching the video it is amazing how hard and cynical Mauer has gotten over the years.
  4. If only we could throw out the worst month of the season, ok if only we could throw out the two worst months of the season.. two and a half months of the season. We would be in contention.\ It is nice to see them playing better. With a bad a start as they had, it would not have been unforeseeable for the club house to go toxic and continue to play in the gutter the rest of the season.
  5. so your people are aware that there are Olympics that are done without snow or ice?
  6. I think this was part of a Yankees ad campaign that was similar to the Twins "get to know him".
  7. Objectively, I know it is better draft wise for them to finish lower and get the better draft pick, but damn it is fun to see them win and get out of the cellar a bit. Plus, maybe if they finish strong they will enter next year with the attitude they can win and that will compensate for a not as good draft pick (not to rationalize or anything...).
  8. I keep forgetting about Park (I have blocked out a lot of April and May). How is he doing in AAA? I know they got him for a decent price, but I remember thinking - do we need another 1B/DH type?
  9. 2018- game 7 - walk off walk. [Chief was faster than me.]
  10. Yes - and they wanted someone with speed who could cover a lot of ground to help compensate for Sano in right field. You can kind of see why Terry Ryan is gone. I was guilty of eating this up. I think during the bad stretch of 2011 to 2014 it was something positive to talk about and hope for, since there was not much positive that was currently on the field. They are young yet, so hopefully if the team gets better around them, they won't feel the pressure of having to elevate the team themselves and will reach more of their potential.
  11. I am a Mauer apologist, so I would love to see him stabilize and have a few more productive, respectable years. He has certainly shown stretches where he still has it mixed with stretches where he looks like he should be a part time player. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season goes and which Mauer is more of the anomaly. I think I saw somewhere once Texiera retires at the end of the year, Mauer will be the only one left from the top of that draft class. Time flies. It also reminded me of how young he was when he came up to the big show. Rookie injury aside, he had a pretty smooth transition for one that young. If TD had existed at that time, I don't think there would have been many threads about whether he should be sent down to AAA, which he skipped in the first place. It is also nice to see how he has improved defensively at 1B the last couple of years.
  12. Didn't Mauer start hitting again once you dropped him from your team? I think you know what you have to do regarding Sano.
  13. How does Nunez's basket not include a batting helmet?

  15. He threw out two runners in one game within the last month. People on the game thread were concerned it might have been one of the signs of the apocalypse.
  16. Has Mauer gone back to eating at Jimmy John's? That can be the only explanation.
  17. Do you and Chief share the same joke book (or in Chief's case joke stone tablet)?
  18. I think being on the same field last week as the Canadian player the White Sox picked up triggered something. They might need to figure a way to get them in close proximity about once a week.
  19. At the very least it will have to be better than almost all of the baseball you watched in April.
  20. Isn't that like saying someone looks like an evil Hitler?
  21. Did that 0 and 9 start really happen? I like to think I was having some bad fever dream and that April was just a figment of my imagination.
  22. We are kind of the Indian's kryptonite. When we back into the play-offs and if we have to play the Indians at some point - they will be toast.
  23. There would have been a time in April where I would have been worried about the lead being blown in the last couple of innings, but instead tonight Winner!
  24. Yes - it has been a pretty good game thread (which I am sure is just a coincidence of Brian being speechless).
