  1. Or you could just activate the OF'er that is already on the 40 man roster. Is Arcia really that deep in Gardy's doghouse that they would rather re shuffle the roster than bring him back up? He's healthy enough to play in minor league games, he's had 4, it's not like he missed 3 months. He wouldn't be on a rehab assignment if he wasn't healthy.
  2. What, a Fryer, Herrmann, Florimon bench doesnt do anything for you?
  3. I guess I don't understand why it can't be Arcia? He's had 4 rehab games, how many does he need? Machado only needed 4, and he missed the entire spring training.
  4. If bullpen arms are replaceable (and they are), why would anyone give us anything of value for the easiest bullpen spot to fill, mop up guy?
  5. Looking forward to watching one of my favorite, and most exciting players in baseball this weekend, Manny Machado. Tonights bench: Herrmann and Florimon.
  6. Especially when your team just had 3 consecutive days off? I don't think there is another manager in the league who could have Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday off, yet manage to completely wipe out his 8 relief pitchers by Thursday.
  7. I dunno, I was able to get Drew Hutchison for him in my dynasty league. Perhaps Antony should be putting in a call to Toronto?
  8. The Cubs also have the #4 best second base prospect, who is 22 and OPS'ing .814 at AAA. They may trade Castro, but I don't think it would be for Dozier, I'd think it would be for pitching.
  9. 6 times out of 19 is "as often as not"? I'm no math major, but 13 of one, and 6 of another hardly seem the same.
  10. Maybe a bigger sample size than 7 IP before judging a guy on something with as much variance as Inherited runners scored %? It is actually 4 of 9 that have scored (not 5 of 9.) Which brings his career totals to 6 of 19 scored which is almost right at league average ( 29%). Prior to last night's game it was at 4 of 17, which would have made him better than league average. If you are going to caution people to exercise caution making judgements with small sample sizes, in other threads, it may be prudent to do the same here. We are talking about 7 IP, after all.
  11. My wife and I had an unfit table when we first started out. Had to replace that thing when the firstborn started climbing on it though, that thing wasnt safe.
  12. By "major league pitcher" I'm guessing he meant he doesn't think he'll be successful, not that he won't get a shot. The great part about sports is we eventually get to see how it plays out!
  13. And Law would never make that argument off that info ALONE. Law gets asked questions similar to this all the time in his chats, and he explains that he has contacts that see these guys more than he does who he trusts.
  14. 1) What else are they going to do with the money? We are currently about 20 to 25 million below our "52%" budget. 2) How would that not reflect well on the Twins? Giving a guy free money that you didn't have to would make them look good to the players, not bad.
  15. When Gardy says "leadoff type guy" he means he's fast. After listening to Gardy and guys like Dan Gladden and Roy Smalley, I've decided to just accept the fact that these old school guys dont appreciate OBP and never will.
  16. I don't think you understand what I am asking. I am asking if (instead of waiting for retirement papers) they could have just cut him to open the spot right away. Before I assume that they are just cheap, I'd like to know if that is even proceduraly possible.
  17. Bartlett's salary isnt that much is it? We are well below budget, I don't see why this little bit of money would be an issue.
  18. Florimon is a special player.
  19. If it lasts longer than 4 hours, call your doctor.
  20. Yes, I agree. The poster i quoted said definitively he is NOT ready. I was curious what he's seen to know that for sure.
  21. Couldn't the Twins have just cut Bartlett to make room on the 40 man so they didn't have to waive Mastro? Not saying it matter much in the big picture, but it would be nice to have a little bit more CF depth in the upper minors.
  22. His career average is about 11 HR's/year. If you take out 2009 its about 9 HR's/year. I think people would be thrilled to see Joe hit 20 HR's.
  23. I know its only a few months last year and less than a month this year, but I'm shocked at how he just doesn't seem like a ballplayer to me. I am very worried, even his defense has been pretty awful at times. And he just plain can't hit. Some guys are late bloomers and need 1000 PA's before they start to figure it out. Hicks could be one of those guys, but the unfortunate part is that giving a guy who cant hit 1000 PA's takes a ton of patience.
  24. I can respect that opinion, so long as you are consistent and rip the Twins when they try to break up the double play.
  25. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on May. It seems to me he's about as ready as he's ever going to be. He's 24 years old, and has started the season with a 16:3 K/BB ratio so far, which is a pretty big improvement for him. I havent seen his starts though, so I'm wondering what you've seen that he's not ready.
