  1. I'm sorry, not to get personal, but that is pretty shady. I really don't understand why an ump can't just call a ball a ball, and a strike a strike. Let the athletes do their job, and the umps can worry about their own job. If the umps don't like the pace of play, and feel the need to basically extort the pitcher to play at the pace they want them to play, then find a new career.
  2. Yes he is. I too am confused at why the thread was moved. MLB players on rehab assignment have traditionally been discussed on the main board, at least as I can recall.
  3. Yeah, when you compile this, along with refusing to play winter ball, and the whole "showing up not knowing who's pitching" stuff, it certainly seems Hicks marches to the beat of his own drum. That's fine if it works, but it's not going to give you much benefit of the doubt if it doesnt.
  4. Curious what the group thinks of the Mauer projection now?
  5. Why would it be crazy to trade Suzuki or Morales? They are both here on 1 year deals. These are exactly the kind of players that selling teams SHOULD be trading.
  6. He can't talk about a player that they didn't ask about?
  7. Where is the rest of the article where he is just being honest and ripping suzuki for being nearly as bad? Oh that's right he didn't. I don't get what he's doing here, at all.
  8. If that is the case, then I'd rather have a bat on the bench than a glove. I think a pinch hitter has more of a chance to impact a game than a defensive replacement does.
  9. I would have to think the Cards could get much better than that for Jay.
  10. My TV must be broken, because I'm not seeing very much of Pinto.
  11. He can't (unless someone goes on the DL), he has to stay down a minimum of 10 days. The soonest he can be recalled is next Saturday.
  12. Perhaps, but I think you'd be going out on quite a limb to think that 6 XBH's were all the result of sloppy defense. Kohl Stewart pitches with the same defense behind him, and he's allowed half as many hits as Eades, in nearly as many innings. Eades was also a college pitcher, who was facing one of the most punchless lineups from one of the worst farm systems in baseball. He should be downright dominating a lineup like that, period. There isn't any way to sugarcoat it.
  13. Pretty hard to blame the defense when a guy gives up 6 extra base hits. If they were all seeing eye singles, then maybe.
  14. April was fun and a great story but he is not an MLB caliber player, unless its strictly a bench role MAYBE.
  15. Are you trying to balance the Perk/Ethier idea by going just as far the opposite way? I like Perk as much as anyone, but unless Bill Smith is now in charge of the Dodgers, you are not getting an elite spec like Pederson or Seager for what would be the Dodgers LH setup man.
  16. I guess Santana's legs needed a rest too.
  17. And Happy Mother's Day to all the moms in here.
  18. We no longer have a 3rd catcher, so if you're looking for Zuke and Pinto in the same lineup, you'll probably be disappointed most days.
  19. Only if one of them is named Perkins. Even our next 2 best relievers would be lucky to land someones top 20 spec, nevermind top 10. And why would anyone trade for Corriea, Kubel or Willingham right now? Having a bunch of mediocre relievers is not an "excess". Those are the type of guys that everyone in their system has that could be called up at any time. Why would the Phillies want to give up a spec for a reliever when they could just call up Ken Giles?
  20. I know Gibson was hurt by his defense there, but really, he needs to learn how to miss even an occasional bat.
  21. League average K rates, '11 through '14: 2011: 18.6 2012: 19.8 2013: 19.9 2014: 20.5
  22. I'm not watching the game. Was Parm actually trying to steal, or was it a hit and run?
  23. Pinto needs to be sent down to AAA. Without a 3rd catcher, Gardy is not going to play him enough, as long as Suzuki continues to play well. He's too young and raw to ride the bench 5 or 6 days a week.
  24. Nobody is trading anything of value for any of our relievers not named Perkins.
