  1. I think some relief pitching is in order. We need to find someone who can be a closer for us.
  2. He's just a sinker and slider away from being truly dominant.
  3. I think Gabby Gonzalez gets on the 40 man to avoid the rule 5 draft. He's been the one centerpiece besides Topa of the Polanco trade. Losing him would make the trade a loss.
  4. Almost every person dealt is doing better with their new teams and managers. I get players like him because of his "laid back" style of managing, but young players especially need some structure and accountability. I'm guessing they'll be some decent managers available after this season is over. We need a solid lineup not the constant changing of batting orders and people who aren't producing. We need better base running coaches too.
  5. If the moves Falvey made don't work out then he'll be fired. I'm not sure if fans want Rocco back next season. He might be acting like hes changing up things with more aggressive base running, which is fine with me but his need to change lineups and batting orders every game is wacko. The players need a new manager to play under and the fans deserve a change to look forward to.
  6. Low cost returns is what he was aiming for. Sure if we had an owner who was invested in the team and not their own outside interests then we'd have traded for some higher talent in return. I still think the Correa trade could have been better if we got Walker in return, since we'd had owed him a little less than just paying $30M of Correas contract and getting a low ceiling player in return. Abel has a little work to do on command and he'll be good.
  7. Whens someone gonna ask Rocco why he constantly changes the batting order and lineup. When one lineup is successful, the very next day it's the complete opposite. I say pick a solid producing order and make only slight substitutions depending on who's on the mound. Players need some consistency.
  8. The same issues have been ongoing for Wallner. His super open stance and exaggerated leg kick make him mostly late on pitches. If he'd square up a little more and not pull up his leg so much he would get to more pitches. Its something Polanco never worked out till he got to Seattle, now IMO a way better hitter.
  9. What happened to him was he got hit with a 96mph fastball to the head last year vs the Detroit Tigers. After that he just lost all confidence at the plate. Up until then he was like Keashall this season, but Keashall came back from the hit to the arm and didnt lose a step. The head is always the worst though. I always feared that when at the plate.
  10. Problem is inconsistencies and sporadic lineups and pitching substitutions. I'm surprised fans haven't been chanting for the firing of Rocco once again as they were at the end of a brutal collapse last season due to the formentioned issues with his style of managing.
  11. Fans are tired of the lack of change. If Joe really sold the team and the new owners hired on a new manager, and brought in some more talent to be competitive the fans will come again. No one wants to see more of the same lackluster play. And lack of change.
  12. He should by all means have been in the minors working on his swing. Think Torkelson of the Tigers. Baldelli doesn't seem to think it necessary to help players out by doing this.
  13. If Royce has been on the field every day and not injured most of the time its not an issue. I believe if he had been on the field consistently the past 2 years in particular he would have been offered a extension. But if he can't stay on the field he won't get much interest besides a possible minimum deal or short term deal as a DH or something like that.
  14. Still waiting on the ownership groups names and details.
  15. Its because of his stance, it really restricts him getting to high or low pitches. But anything middle middle he clobbers. I would bet if he got traded the new organization would have him square up more and not have such a high leg kick. Allowing him to get to more pitches.
  16. This off-season someone needs to work with him on his stance. A less open and more square stance will help him with his swing. He's got the power already, and like many other tall players has plenty of swing and miss. But he can get better with some adjustments at the plate. The Mariners did with Polanco what years of Twins staff didn't and has had him square up his stance, now he gets more hits and is less susceptible to inside and down/away pitches.
  17. Well the Mariners finished the year with a better record than we did and got the #3 pick. We shaved off quite a bit of our cap space and will most likely shave off even more this offseason. If we dont get a top 3 pick the game is rigged. I believe its why we didnt just make a 1 for 1 trade with the Astros for Walker. But I wish we had since he could have been a huge part of our team next year.
  18. Teams been all over our fast balls lately. As soon as Ryan started throwing more offspeed he had better results.
  19. I say if there's a chance at us getting the #1 or top 3 pick next years draft. We should also look into either extending Vaskey at a much lower rate, maybe $10 for 2 years. Then we can work in Tait the following season. We could also look to the open market and a cheap veteran option like Maldonado.
  20. Both are young talented pitchers, I thought we could have got a better return for Jax though. Just Bradley and no other prospects was kinda low return. They might want to look at maybe theyre tipping pitches. It looked too good to be true for the lowly white Sox, especially since they didnt score more than a run in the rest of both games. We should have kept Erasimo Ramirez, now we're down some reliever depth.
  21. Seattle had ALL the same issues, good pitching but very very inconsistent offense. They fired Servaes and hired on Wilson and Martinez. Now with mostly all the same players are 100% better, including Polanco who changed his batters stance and is producing better at the plate. Wallner, Lewis and the boys could use a former all star slugger manager to motivate and change their game. But as long as Baldelli and Borgshulte are around NOTHING will change.
  22. I'm convinced at this point Baldelli and Falvey just don't know what their doing. If we had a better manager we'd be shifting roster spots with some St. Paul guys who've been killing it. The hopes of a postseason push are OVER. So there's no reason NOT to give big league tryouts now to Fedko, Eeles and other AAA standouts.
  23. If the Pohlands don't use the money they got from selling minory stakes in the team to pay off THEIR own debts, the teams gonna lose more fans and revenue. Extending Baldelli already is gonna lose fans, and games! I see us being around a 60-75 win team next season at MOST. If we truly want to go in a new direction we'd hire on a new skipper and hitting coach. Id probably keep Maki around as pitching coach but that's it!
  24. I think the Twins hopes of a postseason push are over this year. So why not call him up to try out? With Roden down, and only Austin Martin and Buck as righty bats we need more right handed outfielders.
