  1. I'm happy to see a 27 year old non prospect with a career ops of 760 in the minors get a chance. But with Buxton as your starter, you need to prepare with a proper backup. MAT was a brilliant backup for that reason, being a great defensive outfielder with a chance to make an impact with his bat occasionally. Margot was a good thought but the Twins hadn't gotten the memo that his defense had fallen off a cliff. Keirsey is fine. But I'm guessing his defense is average to below average and his ops+ is going to be 85 at best. Him being replacement level isn't really the problem. Buxton being unable to play half a season is the real problem.
  2. I'll give him credit for trading for Michael A Taylor too. That's the kind of low risk trade he should be making. But he tried it again with Margot and that was a complete bust. Still should keep trying those types of trades because the potential reward is much higher than Gasper as 1B or Keirsey as CF.
  3. Falvey really hasn't done a thing in two years. He had a big January 2023 and hasn't done anything to improve the team since. There will not, and should not, be a Salary Cap implemented.
  4. But how many of those players are just not playing because they're not good enough? 129 is between 4 and 5 per team. We should probably expect, given full health, that 7 or 8 of the players on a 26 man roster at the start of the season to play enough. So, we're talking more like 50%.
  5. Many billionaires have a bad history is just a pure statement of fact. Like saying a lot of water is wet.
  6. I'm putting the over under on career WAR left in his career at 6.0. Really not excited to see the rest of the career of a man whose value is derived from speed and power get dramatically slower and weaker. IMO Twins would have been wise to shop him this offseason before he truly becomes a 4th OF, which he's arguably been since 2017 anyways. But this is from someone that doesn't believe in this team at all. If you actually think they have a real chance at 90-95 wins in 2025, it makes a move like that stupid as hell.
  7. Improve Defense Unfortunately the organization has made it incredibly likely that the defense this next season will be significantly worse than in 2024.
  8. 100%. No team cares that much about their backup catcher. Some of the best teams and how they acquired their backup catchers. Dodgers: acquired as a throw in on a trade Phillies: acquired in a minor league trade for a non prospect Mets: claimed off waivers Yankees: acquired with a RP in a backup catcher swap Braves: claimed off waivers
  9. Cosign. They've accomplished nothing but a fluke year in a juiced ball season. And the team and farm are in such a mediocre state currently. 7 years is plenty to determine Falvey just doesn't have the sauce. And Rocco pinch hit Margot so frequently that he set a major league record in futility. New Owners, New Organization.
  10. Super easily. Not even a second thought.
  11. I have watched him, and he has indeed looked very good in short spurts. The problem is how short those spurts are and if there's any reason to believe THIS time he'll be healthy. And I don't think there is. Maybe he learns how to actually take care of his body? But then we'd expect to see a huge drop-off in production.
  12. I agree with this. I just doubt that they have any reason he wouldn't translate as a starter and just want the bullpen depth. But that's me defaulting to this organization being poorly operated. Interestingly, only Gaddis was ever considered a starting pitcher prospect in their system. The other two were either already RP when they entered the system or immediately converted.
  13. That they insist upon stretching out Varland but refuse to allow Jax another chance to start tells me that this organization has no idea what they're doing. Shocking that they've not had any sustained success since 2010.
  14. Regarding Brock Stewart, I frankly don't see why projection systems love a man that was plucked out of indy baseball 5 years ago and has since gone on to pitch to a total of 300 batters with a 1.25 WHIP. Strikeouts are a great skill to have, but if you can't do anything else as a pitcher what value are you to a team? So, for question 1, no, Brock Stewart is almost certainly not going to pitch 58 innings next season. And if he somehow does, it's not going to be with a 3.30 FIP.
  15. I'm well aware how you got that figure. I'm very comfortable with my analysis. Sorry you got mad at a number you don't like.
  16. There was reporting, by gleeman I believe, that they internally forecasted increased attendance as that is usually seen after playoff and general success. So why would we assume their revenue projections would be based on 2023 attendance? So I didn't assume 888 anything. And the reported attendance is one thing, but obviously people that don't show up in September can't buy beer. Do you think it's really outlandish that an incompetent front office (which I believe them to be) missed their own game day revenue projections by 20 million? 3K per game give or take? I agree with you in one regard! I'm guessing the 888 per person figure you're losing your mind over is probably about 10-12x higher than actual. 75-90? Seems possible. Could also be 60, or 120. We won't know until you get back to us with those revenue figures you've been meaning to ask them for.
  17. This is all just a weird nothing stat that means squat. The Mets changed hands 5 years ago and have since won 100 games and went to the NLCS. Did they lose against the Dodgers because of some weird ownership quirk? Did the Twins buck some meaningful hinderence in 1987?
  18. So true. It's probably owned by George Soros. Conservatives have been silenced in the media these days. That's what I heard on Fox News, Facebook, Twitter, and Joe Rogan.
  19. Do you think the Twins anticipated more people or less people to come to the ballpark after a playoff year? And we have no idea about their revenue figures because you still haven't called them for that analysis you've been asking for. Chop chop.
  20. Then just do it already. Jfc.
  21. You go ask the Twins, and at least 3 other mlb teams, for their books and get back to us on that.
  22. Great question. Correa and Buxton both still positives out there, but otherwise every other defender out there feels like either a negative or a question mark (Lee? Probably a positive?). Defense might not be doing the pitching staff any favors.
  23. How many mlb teams do you think have changed ownership in the last couple decades?
  24. None of anything that's written on this website NEEDS to be written. I found it very interesting, and although questionable in some inferences or conclusions, a far more engaging read than the fact that the bullpen is projected to be pretty good.
