  1. You accuse everyone else of being self righteous and then write this drivel? My eyes hurt from how hard you made me roll them.
  2. Nothing will ever erase the mistakes Jackson and Rose made. But we should be beyond that now. He only ever admitted to betting on baseball when he could make money off of it with a book deal. Pete Rose was an absolute scumbag and no one should read that letter and put any weight in it. He lived a liar, and he died a liar. I'm happy, elated even, that he died not getting elected to the Hall of Fame because he didn't deserve that satisfaction. Bad people deserve bad outcomes. Unfortunately we see too little of that in this world but Pete got what he deserved. Further, I think we should be calling Ichiro the Hit King. Pete doesn't deserve that title.
  3. God damnit, you made the same joke but beat me by a lot.
  4. The complete permeation of sports betting into everything to do with sports made this ban harder and harder to justify. I find the constant barrage of sports betting odds really sickening and luckily don't have an addictive personality but MLB is all in and is even sending out game odds from their official Twitter account. I think there's a time and place for gambling, and 9 pm from your couch isn't it, and is just one more sign of the decay of this country's moral fabric. This comment brought to you by DraftKings, the official sportsbook of Major League Baseball. I personally don't care about Pete Rose getting unbanned for his sports betting. Now the rape? That's another discussion.
  5. I have huge criticisms of the Twins organization, but this is just nonsense, completely separated from reality. The man only has 850 PA in all of the minors, less than 250 in AAA and you all are acting like he's been in AAAA purgatory for years. I remember these same hasty calls about Severino, Keirsey, Prato, et al. McCusker will be called up. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But he will get a chance if he earns it, despite the hysterics saying otherwise.
  6. Still waiting for that DaShawn breakout we've been promised from members here.
  7. Mickey Gasper almost broke his SS's leg in spring training. He is atrocious in the field, which is why no team will take a chance on his offensive skillset.
  8. Don't look past some non qualified players like beloved comeback player Javy Baez or sudden star Trent Grisham.
  9. I think that's fair. I prefer to think of defenders in buckets instead of this desire to quantify it. But like you said, with a flyball heavy pitching staff it was incredibly obvious that a defensive upgrade in the OF would be extremely beneficial. I just hope the Twins fans remember this when Bader returns to being a 650 OPS guy.
  10. Who's this "we" you're talking about? You got a mouse in your pocket? 😀
  11. Feel bad for the wasted year. But also can't feel too bad for a team that had a glaring weakness (pitching) and while they made a defensible decision not to resign Burnes, they also failed to build a proper pitching staff after his departure.
  12. Oofda, Royce so bad he got fans asking for a wOBA under .100!
  13. One of the further reasons that ERA is a pretty useless stat, particularly for relievers. Bad defense in the later innings, not a good recipe for success!
  14. No. But one of those slides that makes the catch a bit less awkward than catching it at your shins.
  15. Gimmicks have to be earned and organic. This ****** helmet looks like it was just bought off Amazon, which is exactly the case. Shelf it, and let a homerun gimmick come to you,
  16. Idk. Best we can do is compare him to, I believe, the greatest defensive CF in the previous generation, Andruw Jones. I don't think it's controversial to say Jones should be in the HOF, but he's hardly top of the CF class. Even so, I guess you can make the argument that Buxton lines up, talent wise, with the future HOF Jones. Both exceptional fielders with 111 wRC+. As for this desire to fans to vouch for the character of a man they do not know, it always makes me super uncomfortable. They are an entertainer and you enjoyed the entertainment they provided and the manner in which they did carried themselves while they did so. All valid. But Twins fans twice celebrated long-time CF that turned out to be pretty different than their public personas. I, for one, will not make it thrice.
  17. 2022 All Star I wish him well. He's never been able to be Him because of his health and because his propensity to strikeout in big spots has resulted in him being anti-clutch. But he's still young enough to still have some truly memorable moments that define his career. Fingers crossed for him.
  18. I openly mocked him being ranked #5 on the prospect list. People will ignore results and just point at age for the level.
  19. You wanna pay him 5 yr/70M? Two years of arb plus 3 year FA? That's probably about what it takes.
  20. Yeah, even if you want to claim he's more like 40th best SP, which I think bean could more agree to, calling him top 30 isn't the most unreasonable claim. Seems perfectly in bounds. It's not like anyone's claimed the Twins have 3 #1s. Or at least in this thread. Feel like I have read exactly that from big homers here before. Allow me to throw some support to the Top 30 claim. Projections for the Rest of Season by fWAR: zips: 20th steamer: 17th oopsy: 33rd atc: 21st Now, these projection systems largely look at the same data with a similar method so it's not surprising that he'd be looked at favorably in all of them. But I think calling him Top 30 is perfectly reasonable.
